I am right in the middle of an issue with these same people. First, when I spoke to them they gave me an estimate price of $4.20 per cf. This put their estimate over the price of another company so when I said I was going with the other company they offered me a discount of $224.91 which put them below the other estimates so I agreed. Additionally they said if I sent in a $375.00 deposit that day (it was 4p E) they would take an additional $24.49 so I did. Everything was fine & they were courteous & answered all my phone calls directly. They scheduled me a pickup date for July 23rd between 7-10a. 2days before that date they called asking if they could reschedule for an earlier pickup. As I explained why I couldn't be ready they made offers to ack my stuff, which I declined, they tried to make it seem as I wouldn't be able to get a pickup to which I said my stuff needs to be picked up on the date agreed upon. OK. I call them on that date at 10a asking when they were coming since they were to be there already. They said by 3p, then that rolled over & they said they'd call 30 minutes prior to getting there. There was never a phone call & at 5:30p a plain white truck pulled in front of my house. I had never been informed that my job was being subcontracted to another moving company that I've never heard of. I actually was thinking I was dealing with the reputable moving company BEKINS but I was dealing with BECKENS. That should have been my 1st red flag. I'd also told them on the phone I wanted to be sure I was going with a reputable company due to the horror stories I'd heard about moving companies. They assured me they were reputable. They offered to email me an estimate showing the discounts, their BBB report, & some comments from customers proving their reliability. I made a huge mistake by only looking at what links they'd sent me because now I see online countless complaints from people having the same issues as I am. ok, back to the story... after all my items were in their truck George comes in with a many documents for me to sign. I asked for copies of everything I signed which he stated he would give to me. At the time of signing he only gave me 4 copies of some of those documents. He said he would bring in a copy of the other documents from his truck. The price he gave me was $400.00 more than the original estimate. I understand paying a higher price for more space, which he said I had 25cf more than in original estimate, OK. But at $4.20 a cf this only increases my price by $105.00 so I see that he has NOT included any of the discounts offered to me which is the reason I signed on with them. In front of a witness George stated that he was not able to give discounts because he is just the driver. I needed to get BECKENS to notify his boss at EXPIERENCED VAN LINES about the discounts & he stated that when he delivered my belongings in Texas he would adjust the price I owed to include the discounts. OK. He stated that it would be "no problem" OK. As I waited inside for him to bring me the last copies of the documents I'd signed within a couple minutes I'd realized that he had taken off. This was Friday, July 23rd at 6:30p. So each day after I tried calling BECKENS to work out the details of the discounts. JOE always answers the phone. I asked to speak with VICTOR (who had made all the arrangments & offered the discounts) but was told he was out of the office. I also asked to speak to JASON whom I'd have a couple of previous contacts. Neither 1 was in the office but JOE offered to help. I explained it all & he said that he would check the documents & if they were not included he would fix the price so that upon delivery I'd get the discount. This was what I was told after calling daily for 3 days. In those 3 days I was leaving messages & told by JOE that VICTOR or JASON would return my calls but they never did. At the time of my estimate quote as well as at the time of pick-up I was told 7-10 days for delivery. OK, but I told them that my flight was the 28th so they offered to put a delivery date of July 29th. OK. 29th came... no truck. I called, JOE tried to pass me off to 'dispatch' so I told CATHY SUMMERS about my problem(s) which she replied all the managers were in a meeting & she took a detailed message saying she'd have 1 of them return my call... no call was ever returned. So I call BECKENS again, can only speak to JOE who portrays himself as a consultant with no authority but offers to give me the phone numbers to the individuals whom I've been calling leaving messages with no return calls, these are the same exact numbers I already have. So July 30th I speak, again, to JOE who informs me it is 7-14 days for delivery which puts my delivery date today August 6th. OK. Today I call to find out what time the truck will get here only to be directed to call dispatch of EXPIERENCED VAN LINES which I do. I am connected to GEORGE who says he is the manager. I ask about my discounts to which he replies "we do not give any discounts" I ask about my delivery then he tells me to call the truck driver GEORGE who calls me back to tell me maybe next Tuesday I might get delivery. When I said No, you're contract with me says 7-10 days he stats "look lady I have a big truck here with los of customers" to which I replied " I don't care how big your truck is or how many customers you have you made an agreement with me & I want my stuff." He continued to argue with me refusing to listen or explain anything else other than the size of his truck, so I hung up & called BECKENS. JOE told me "no, it is 7-14 days from the date of my 1st delivery date, not 7-14 days from the time they picked up my belongings. When I informed him that I was angry because of all the issues I was having & how everything had piled up into a nightmare & how I'd not been informed of them subcontracting out my job & how I was alarmed at all the complaints I'd discovered on his company as well as the subcontractor they used JOE became extremely rude, interrupting me, not allowing me to finish a sentence & very rudely asking "who did you speak to over there?" 3 times. I raised my voice answering "GEORGE"... JOE then tells me " I do not have to talk to anyone yelling at me AND HE HUNG UP THE PHONE ON ME!!! I called back, he hung up. I call3ed back saying "please let me speak to a manager" to which he said " I do not have to deal with rude people" & HE HUNG UP ON ME AGAIN. Several times after this I have called back to either an answering machine or JOE hangs up on me as soon as he hears my voice.
This is how it stands now. I cannot contact anyone, they have all my belongings & there is nothing I can do or no one I can speak to to handle this matter thru the company. I had been extremly cooperative with them thru all this. I have had a positive outlook on it all remaining positive thru everything they've dished out. I spoke to JOE several days back telling him that I was getting concerned since all these little issues were building up & no one was returning my calls or handling them. I told him that I was trying to remain confident that he was going to honor his companies original statements & make things right. JOE assured me that they wanted happy customers & that they were going to look over all documents & make sure that I'd recieve my discounts promised to me in writing. I'd called him that day because my delivery date (supposedly) was fast approaching with no word from a returned call or messge telling me my discounts would be honored. I asked for a statement in writting emailed to me saying I was to recieve these discounts & they were to be deducted from amount owed at time of delivery. He said he would himself look into it & send me a document & he would call me himself to inform me of having done this...guess what?? he didn't! I still wait fr my belongings to be delivered to me...what date? I don't know... what condition will they be in?? I don't know... I have decided to videotape the entire delivery process as well as any statements made by the delivery people.
Meanwhile I am reporting to whomever I can trying to figure out what recourses I have... I've already made a police report here in San Antonio. I will be making police reports in Georgia where they picked up my belongings as well as in Brooklyn NY where their offices are located. I am filing with the Better Business Bureau, Attorney General, Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration & anyone else I can find who governs this. Additionally I am following legal procedures so that if ALL of my items are not delivered in 15 days I will be filing criminal charges against the drivers for "Larceny after trust" as well as filing civilly agaisnt BECKENS & EXPIERENCED VAN LINES.. Not to mention that I called BEKINS (the reputable company offering moving services) & told them all about this company. I honestly thought that I was dealing with them & remembered seeing their trucks & adds over many years as well as hearing good compliments. I see now how BECKENS is using this typo on their name to foster a false sense of security in customers. The president of BEKINS will be notified of all of this on Monday...
Please, do not use this company. They sure are polite & forthcoming in the beginning but once they get your money & your possessions it is a completely different story. Do not fall for their lies...Additionally...this is a somewhat 'condensed' version of what's happened. It really is more intense which should be a warning to you all
