This business owner (Rob) is one class-A jerk. And he is training his employees to be the same.
After a year of monthly service and a track record of paying my bill on time, I was billed for the last service (outting the bill on the front door mat is the way they bill) I did not receive the bill. Perhaps it blew away in the wind - of which we have alot in the summer and fall because we live on the water in the California Delta.
Anyway, I get a service call notice last month from them, soliciting more of my business. I called the office to tell them that I did not want service due to the rains. Spraying for pests does not make sense in a deluge of water. At that time, no mention of an outstanding balance was mentioned.
This month I get a notice from a collection agency (on my cell phone, no less) for the outstanding balance. I called Discovery Pest to find out why I was never notified of the outstanding balance (in particular why not when I spoke with their office a few weeks ago, when they were soliciting my business)
To me it makes no sense to be soliciting more business from a customer whom you have sent to collections.
The represntative was rude and accusing on the phone from the beginning. This is no doubt a trait that had been passed-on to the employees from the boss who is just as accusing.
When Rob finally called back, he was ubrupt, rude, threatening and at one point suggeted that he would just keep me in collections - even though I made it clear that my intent was to pay the outstanding balance immediately.
Instead he argued with me and threatened me and when I said that he had lost a good customer in me due to his rude way of doing business, he was too consumed with collecting his $60 back billing then he was trying to save a customer so he threatenend to "just keep me in collections".
I will not do business with Discovery Pest any more. I wouldn't do business with them if they paid me! Besides, I can get the same service from tthe extremely nice people at Bug Zappers for way less!
