Saturday, April 16th, we were trapped in Bellagio's 90-degree plus parking structure with thousands of other vehicles for 2 full hours despite access to a back way out of the structure that the security staff refused to allow their guests. Due to people walking across the exit on Las Vegas Blvd, no cars were able to leave the Bellagio premises. After finally getting through to the security office, I was laughed at and ridiculed when I told them that I, along with thousands of others, were trapped in their garage. I got things like, "Well that's Las Vegas! and What would you like me to do Madam, put on a vest and direct traffic for you?" Well, YES!!! That is your job! Protecting the safety of your customers is your job! Trapping them in a hot garage with thousands of angry and desperate people...yeah...that is your problem and you need to fix it!
FInally after nearly two hours, the powers that be at Bellagio decided they had been cruel long enough and re-routed the cars back through the garage, promising a back way out. Unfortunately the guy at the exit gate had not been informed and refused us exit. When folks got mad and demanded he let us out he acted like a scorned child and started yelling at us. He said if we didn't calm down he would keep us in the garage all night! As if being stuck for that long wasn't punishment enough! What an idiot!
One woman even got out of her car and tried to manually pull up the guard rails. This really upset the security guard and he threatened us again. After riding off on his bike to check with his superiors, he came back and opened the gate. The exit took us out onto a side street where we easily merged onto Las Vegas Blvd!
Two HOURS we were imprisoned and they had access to this backway out all along and didn't use it? I just don't understand. Bellagio should be ashamed of themselves!!!
