Brake Scam
I do my own disc brake jobs and have done 20-30 over the years. My van needed new front brakes. When compessing the disc drum so the new fatter pads would fit, the drum shifted off center and some brake fuid leaked out. When this happens, air gets in the line and makes an air line bleed mandatory. I didn't have time, so I finished the brake job and called Belle who said they could do it for $35. I drove up, dropped of the car for the 1 hour job & walked to a barber shop. I told them that I only had an hour and I had to go pick up my kids at camp. Afterwards I went to pick up the car and they had done nothing since my master cylinder was bad and needed to be replaced. Cost over $700. I drove the car home, took another car to pick up my kids 50 miles away and returned with the van the next morning. I asked for proof that my master cylindar was bad. They showed me a discolered spot on the outside and said this was evidence of the "leak". I asked why I didn't have any previous problems, have never added brake fluid or need to, and had no evidence of fluid on my painted garage floor? The proceeded to insinuate that I was unknowledgable, lucky to be alive and gambling with others lives. I insisted they just do the bleed job I asked for. Afterwards the charged me $78 instead of $35. Reason- they had changed all my brake fluid even though I never approved it or asked for it. It was never discussed. I reported them to the State Attorney General who wanted me to prove of all this. I don't have time just to protect others or punish Belle, but maybe someone will read this. I have since put 25, 000 miles on the car with no master cylinder problems
