I've had Bellsouth landline and DSL services now for three months. Since switching from a cellphone to a landline, I've been inundated with telemarketing calls. My bill at Bellsouth (promised to be under 100 dollars a month for high speed DSL and unlimited long distance) has been at almost double the quoted price for two months now due to not receiving my rebates (billing error they claim) and various charges and fees that were not disclosed to me during the initial quote and setup. AND since they've been aggressive at selling the fastest DSL speed available to all of their customers, they've bogged down their broadband to a snail's pace. Between the hours of 3pm to 1am, I can barely register 1.5 mbps despite paying for 6. And they practically guarantee this congestion by pushing the 6 mbps plan and making it a financial loss to go with any other. The next plan down (which offers 1/2 speed) is only five dollars cheaper, and the absolute "rock bottom price" speed is only ten dollars cheaper than the 6 mb plan despite being barely better than dial-up speed.
But that's not even what drove me to write this complaint. No, what drove me to write this complaint was that this morning...at 8:20 am...some saccharine sweet Bellsouth rep called me to inform me that my bill was ONE DAY LATE and would I like to make payment arrangements now. At eight in the damn morning!!! Even telemarketers and collection agencies are legally obligated not to call before 9. And all because it was one day late. Not a week, not a month. One single day. Did the bill slip my mind? Yes. I've had issues with my DSL line, a repairman came out yesterday, I just got a new job after three months of unemployment and then, unexpectedly, got offered interviews for two more, and in the mad rush of this past week, I forgot the bill was due. Totally my fault. But does that mean I have to be harassed? Did they think that if they sent an email notification, instead of a phone call, that it would go ignored? Was a one day delinquency so much of a priority that they had to harass me at a time that most businesses and even friends and family deem as too early to be polite?
Who the hell runs this company? Because from the decisions they've been making so far, I'd say it was a brain-dead idiot.
As soon as I can build up a bit of a financial reserve, I'm canceling my service. Sub par service by itself is bad enough. Coupled with sub par customer service/relations is more than I can stomach.
