Bad service
I had purchased a 2006 Bentley 240 Cruise Pontoon Boat from Shy Beaver Pro Shop (RD 1, Box 178A, James creek, PA 16657) on August 19th 2006 for a total of $29, 865.00 I noticed a problem with the boat within the first 20 minutes of use and notified the dealer that same day. I also contacted the motor manufacturer (Mercury Marine) because I did not know if it was a problem with the motor. Upon contacting mercury they had me take the boat to Kleber Brothers Inc (RT 8 GLENSHAW, PA 15116) at which time after a few days notified me that the problem was the design of the boat not the motor. I relayed this info to the dealer where I purchased it (Shy Beaver) and he talked to Bentley who refused to admit it was their design problem. Bentley told the dealer I would have to take it back to (Shy Beaver) which is located 3.5 hours from where I live. I took the boat back to Shy Beaver and test rode the boat on the lake with the sales manager and the service technician both who concluded the motor pod was just not designed right. The dealer contacted Bentley who continued to blame the problem on Mercury. The dealer contacted Mercury and Mercury sent a factory technician twice to ride on my boat the Mercury technician concluded both times it was Bentleys motor pod design that was causing the problem. Supposedly the dealer (Shy Beaver) was told by Bentley that they finally admit the problem and they were going to redesign the motor pod and ship one out to replace the defective one. However when I emailed Bentley on 2-5-06 about the progress they had no idea what I was talking about. The dealer has done way more than I expected to try to resolve this issue including storing the boat for me and winterizing it but his hands are tied until Bentley resolves the problem. It is now February 7 2006 and I have only got to use the boat several times yet the warranty is still ticking away. I have owned this boat for almost 6 months and probably 4 of those months I did not have the boat, and still don't, as it is sitting waiting on Bentley to repair it.
