wanted me to pay 189 us dollars for detection of malfunction
I bought a HP Pavillion DV6 Notebook serial no: CNF9472JJD from Bestbuy store Izmir, Balcova in TURKEY, at 11 january 2010.
Also I have extended quarantee. After 6 months, due to battery charger-battery problem and some buttons not functional LAPTOP went to service. After 30 day I got the Laptop. Only 1, 5 month later battery problem is exactly same and screen was cracked unprompted without any knock or hit.
27 September 2010, I went to Best buy store to give the Laptop to the service again. They called me on 7th October, but problem was still same, service did not anything. They sent it again to service. They telephoned and wanted 189 TL (135 US DOLLAR )FOR DETECTION OF MALFUNCTION from me. I rejected to pay money for that. I went to store and talked to manager. I have talked almost 3 hours because I did not understand why I should pay 135 US DOLLAR. After that they accepted not to get money for that. My LAPTOP still on service. service wanted me to pay 352 tl (260 us dollar) for fixing screen.
I am still paying my instalment.
I am really sad that for shopping from BESTBUY. I will never go again for shopping to BESTBUY, and I will share all those things in all internet forums.

Be careful
I was buy a net book in the Best Buy with a Webroot Spysweeper with AntiVirus Software, for 6 months of use, the vendor says me if I will do not need to cancel anything and I will not be charged again, but 6 months later I receive a e-mail inform that I will charge again in my credit card in US$ 39, 99. I send a e-mail to best buy making my complain but the atendent says me if I need to call to Best Buy to cancel the service, but how can I cancel a service if I do not order? This is ilegal!

Rip off
I recently switched my cell service to Verizon from AT&T through Best Buy. While in the store, the sales people admired my AT&T Sony Ericsson Walkman phone and suggested I trade it in through their Trade-In program. During the process of switching plans, the salesman tested my old phone, transferred contacts and photo's, etc. Twice during this process, I received calls on the Sony phone.

The next morning, I looked up the information as to how to receive a gift card from Best Buy by trading in the old phone. The online form asked for the make of the phone and model. Walkman was stamped on the side of the phone, though the manual had a number model on the cover; they were essentially the same phone. It asked if the phone was working; yes, as I had used it in the store the day before, did I have the power cords and finally, was there any water damage (no). The only flaw in the phone was the center navigation button was missing the tiny plastic cover; something the store even took note of but said made no difference as the button was functional.

I printed out the quote for $22.00 for trading in the phone and shipped it out. A week later I received a reply telling me that they were giving me nothing for the phone and if I wanted it back, I had to pay THEM return postage and Shipping and handling charges that may exceed $48.00!!! They claim the phone was misrepresented by a wrong model number. As I said, Walkman was stamped directly on the phone and that it didn't work.

I wrote back telling them YES it did work and who were they kidding. There reply was now that it WAS SEVERELY DAMAGED and I still wouldn't receive any credit for it and then rubbed my nose in the fact that they would charge me money to return it.

DO NOT TRADE IN anything to these people. The whole program is a scam so they can resell or refurbish products at a 100% profit. They are liars and cheats!!! I have no problem with the stores; they are upfront and honest but you are sending your items to faceless con men and have no retribution. Let this posting be your warning and PLEASE, PASS IT ON.

Runs a con job
Best Buy's customer service is not the only thing that's a joke now. I bought a pair of skullcandy headphones from them and purchased a replacement warranty for them. Three months later, one of the buds falls off. So I go into Best Buy to replace these headphones and the customer service rep sends me off to grab a new pair. While I was gone, his supervisor had come up from where he was lurking and informed the rep that they weren't touching the replacement on the buds because clearly, since the other bud was still intact, there was no way it could have possibly fallen off on a defect. Seriously? If I had purchased these buds through Skullcandy, the manufacturer themselves would have still given me 50% off if they didn't think the buds were defective. I have electronics purchases upwards of $2, 000 planned out, but it's nice to know that a $30 pair of headphones was totally worth the rest of my money.

Terrible customer service
We purchased a laptop computer along with their extended warranty. After 6 months the computer had a catastrophic failure. They tried to replace it with a cheaper model because the model we purchased was no longer available. After arguing for an hour we got at least an equal model. 6 months later that computer failed. We took it back to the famous geek squad. After 4 weeks we called in to check the progress. They lost the computer! Two weeks later they called and said the computer was ready to pick up. We picked up the computer and the operating system was wiped clean. We asked to have the operating system reinstalled. The geek squad refused unless we paid an additional $150 for a new copy of windows. We argued for three hours and refused to pay. They told us to go to the manufacturer or get the original disks. So much for their warranty???? Best Buy does not give the original disks with the computers anymore! I will never buy a thing from this store. Their business model stinks! Their Geek Squad is a joke! Their Customer Service is non-existent!

Return Polcy of just 14 days
Ridiculously brief return policy (Violated many credit card agreements): I attempted to exchange a digital Samsung camera purchased about 3 weeks ago with its original packaging and my sales receipt, a purchase I made about 3 weeks ago @ the Columbus Avenue, NYC store. However, I was told buy the "Geek Squad" representative that "your stuck with this model... we have a 14 return policy... sorry".

I was not aware of this ridiculously brief policy, the original Best buy sales staff and "Geek Squad" was eager to sell a camera and other items, but never informed me that I only had 14 day to try the camera and return it if unsatisfied.

I simply would like to exchange this very difficult to use model for a more user friendly camera.

Lies
Bought a Dyson vacuum cleaner as was told that if I ever had a problem with it that they would give a replacement. One of the tubes busted so I drove the sixty miles to take it in. They said that they could not give me a replacement and they would send it in. They assured me that it would be back in a week. I explained what the saleman had said about a replacement because my wife has a daycare in the home and vaccuumed every day. They said they could do nothing and to come back in a week when it would be back. I called for three weeks and each week they said it would be in soon. I called on a Wednesday and they promised me that the vaccuum would be in by Saturday and that I could come and pick it up. I drove the sixty miles to pick it up and when I arrived they said it had no come in as promised. I explained that I had to have a vaccuum cleaner and they again told me they could do nothing. I then requested that when it came in, they could deliver it to my home which was sixty miles away. They told me that they did not deliver. I told them that they would this time as I was not coming back in the store again. It ended up with my son in law picking it up and when we went to see the grandchildren, I picked it up then. I have never and will never set foot in that store again and I have told my story to as many people as will listen.

Pissed off
I just went back to use the BLACK TIE warranty service and was harassed for 60 minutes while they told me i must have misunderstood their policy (although they have been charging me 9.95 for the last 10 months. The plan was expressed that if the BLACK TIE protection plan allows a person to bring their phone back to best (rip off) BUY and if they can no fix it ...they will replace it (PALM PIXI)...the part they left out (the flippin idiots) was that they have to send it off and we could be without it for 3-6 weeks. This was the mount Juliet, TN store and the department manager Holly Black was one of the most Sarcastic kid i ever met. The other person Mark (the person making the sale but leaving me without "the whole truth" kept us waiting for over 1 hour while he set up the "loaner phone" and literally joked and laughed with another employee the entire time. Best Buy...not only do you have a problem with your warranty/protection plans (should be called black hole protection...not black tie)...but your associates need a whole lot of training. So I am going to take my storey to the next share holder meeting (yes I own stock) and speak to all who attend the share holder meeting.

Defective Product - Don't Care
I purchase an LG washer and dryer at Best Buy. After four months, the dryer broke. Wouldn't power up (fancy model with bells and whistles). A machine four months old should not break and should replaced. Although I was on the phone for 5 hours with their Cust. Service and "Consumer Affairs" I was still forced to wait three weeks until they received a part and had their contract service come and fix it. With three kids that really sucks.

Credit purchase not allowed
I have an $1800 credit line, purchased over $200 worth of goods in June, paid over the minimum for July by $35, then was late for my next payment because I thought I had it set up online for automatic withdrawal. My bad. So I go online and just pay off the card, late fees and all.

Today I go into Best Buy to purchase $750 worth of product and they deny my card. The payment hasn't showed up yet. I have been a customer for years! I have an excellent history with them, and they wouldn't authorize me to make the purchase because of me being late--once. They couldn't see that I had made the payment because they say this can take several days and to come back then. Even though it showed I have a $1650 credit line on my account, they wouldn't let me use it. Ridiculous.

I live two hours from the nearest store and said this was such an inconvenience. They didn't care. They transferred me to five different people, one transferred me to a Spanish recording, another just hung up on me. Awful service.

So I don't have what I needed, and am considering going with a different company. This hassle just isn't worth it.
