insurance
I am writing to alert people about the insurance scam regarding computer insurance. I purchased insurance for about $300, for a computer valued at $750. I was told that the insurance involved replacement of product. I was expecting the type of insurance offered by Staples, and the worker told me that is what it was. However, I am now told that I will have to leave the item for repair. I am absolutely furious. I will never purchase from that store again. Horrible customer service; no value for the insurance. I will likely sue. Would love to make this a class action. Issue: insurance is provide without any details and you are left with the whim given by the sales person.

Anyone else with the same issue please email me asap.

Bait and switch
Here's a new wrinkle on Bait and Switch...

Many retailers offer floor displays when new models arrive.

Best Buy claims they have never used floor display models. They use words like "open box" "clearance" "unactive". Try and pin them down and watch them squirm and waver. Get ready for double talk and man who speak with forked tongue. It will pour forth. I bought a never used floor display, the darn thing reached the second spin display and practically blew out out my whole electric supply. All the lights grew dim, my picture on the TV shrunk to half size, I measured the voltage and it dropped to 82 volts on the line! Being more then technically inclined I couldn't believe a new machine would do this. I blamed my wiring. I replaced the line and outlet. I made sure it was a single line with no branches, directly from the service box. Tried, same thing. Tried on a different outlet or two, same thing.

The display was defective. I returned it. Of course it was a good deal and they made no effort to replace it. They offered more costly machines. In fact another machine. Another "display". It had a scratch on the window, they dropped the price. We pulled it out and it had no leveling control legs, I pulled the soap dispenser try out - soap residue. Obviously a used return they claimed was never used. Then they offered me another machine, new...with only $10 off. They increased my cost $200. I fought, they lowered my increase to $160. I accepted and paid the difference. Guess what? None in stock, however I could pick one up at another store. Guess what? The other store had no "new" one. They had a display and a return only. I started on a Sunday, used Monday to re-do wiring, used all day Tuesday to do a return. I've spent half the day Wednesday trying to arrange and find the new unit by now that is fully paid for. I have nothing, except how they attracted my fancy with a cheap price on a defective machine and led me to spending $160 more on a new machine that took a day and half not to get. Most places are legit with these floor displays, to Best Buy all the appearance is truly is? They use floor displays to trick you and forcing you to end up spending more on a new one.

Further? When I returned the first machine they applied my credit towards a gift card and used the gift card to apply towards the new machine. I told them they have wasted enough of my time and I want my money back of course. Well guess what? They applied my initial return towards a gift card and applied that gift card towards my new purchase...ANDDDDDDD? Gift Cards are not refundable and so they have effectively tied up my money to their store forcing me to buy from them or trying to spend the next eternity trying to untangle the web they weaved to imprison my money.

I am a customer who has become a hostage at Best Buy, they tricked me with bait in the form of a defective floor display that forced me to make a higher purchase of which they could not provide or deliver and further complicated my situation by locking my money in a web of entanglement that a physicist couldn't find a formula to solve - thus hijacking me and forcing to Buy from them, Best Buy... "You Best Buy" when we get your money...

Nothing, but problems
Is there a major problem with Best Buy or are they just taking advantage of this situation? At the near end of September I called Best Buy since there was problem in the washing machine and so they sent a technician (Geek Squad) to see the problem at October 6. They ordered the parts which were need to fix the washing machine and informed me by saying that they will call back to me when they have received the parts. So my family has been waiting to receive the call but there is no word from them what so ever. I then called the company over and over again for about 2 or 3 times a day which then caused the technicians to eventually come and see the problem over again (about 2 times). The second time a technician came to fix the problem but he told us that the part he ordered was the right part but the company sent him the wrong one and he said he will come back as soon as possible to get the machine working again. Again and again I have called and did the same thing as I did before, calling 2 or three times a day but there was no sign of anyone from the Geek Squad. Then at Halloween I called them, as usual, to schedule a repair as they replied to me saying that they will replace my washing machine with a new one, although I have not asked them to replace my washing machine. They said they will call to give me an authorization code to replace the washing machine and then again there was no call back from them. The next day I called the companies supervisor and he told me he will give me the authorization code within 2 business days so I told him that I will call back on Monday (11/3). I called them today (11/3) and they told me to call after 2 hours to receive the authorization code. Then again no word from them. I then called again, waited another hour and spoke to the supervisor on Best Buy. She said she will get the Geek Squad to fix my washing machine when they told me that they will replace it for me. So I have to conclude that Best Buy is taking advantage of this situation and wasting time with me. My family cannot do anything because they are all waiting for someone to fix it. I am wasting a lot of money on laundry in the (laundry stores?). At first we just wanted a simple fixing of the washing machine but since Best Buy has given us the idea of getting a replacement of the washing machine, we want that. And also we want the money that we spent on the laundry store back.

Simply awful
I’m writing you in regards of my bad experience from Best Buy service, Best Buy customer service. I bought very nice (as I thought) and very expensive Whirlpool washer and dryer from Best Buy store in Madison, WI back in February, 2006. Since then it was like a nightmare for me, my wife and our three kids. Washer had issues with it from the first day they delivered it to my house. Water was leaking and I called technician. It took for him (Tom) to arrive 10 days. He so called fixed it and went away; needless to say it broke again. And I called, and he “fixed” it and it broke again and again and again. So, 8 times since March 2006 I was without the washer for couple of weeks every time it broke. And, I forgot to mention, at one point water damaged ceiling in my lower level.

Finally, it broke down again on October, 2008. And I called the 1-800-number, and after 46 minutes on hold they scheduled service for October 22, 2008. That is 14 days without the washer with 3 young kids!!! Technician was scheduled to be here in between 8-12pm today, but he never came. My question to you is: What kind of service is it? You charge that much money for service plan and then what? I, probably, will never buy anything from Best Buy again.

Bad Service For Refund
I purchased a desk top computer from best buy for xmas and I am already having problems with the computer. I tried contacting them with the problem and they are putting the blame on me. They are saying that the problems are because of the fact that I do not know how to use a computer! I have not used it for anything besides checking my business email! How is that my fault.

false adverstisement
I was sold a Sony Bravia 47" T.V. in March of 2007. It was the only one left and therfore had no box or book with it. It was advertised and sold to me as a 1080p, which is what I had been looking for and wanted. Lo and behold two years later I find out it was a 720p. I found my receipt and it sad they had sold me a 1080 p. When I went to the store, the store managers tried to tell me that it was Sony's fault because they advertised the TV as a 1080p and they were just following Sony's specs. Needless to say there was nothing they could do. I learned avaluable and expensive lesson. I will never purcahse a nother thing from Best Buy.

TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE
On December 15, 2009 I order a gas range online from Best Buy. The AGREED AND CONFIRMED delivery date for this range was January 2, 2010. Thus, I set up an appliance installation via the number on Best Buy Website (1-800-624-4434) for January 4, 2010.

Now this morning I received an email from Best Buy saying my range is going to be delivered on January 16, 2010. This is 2 weeks from the date I had AGREED upon! In addition, I had to reschedule my appliance installation date.

Not only is this UNACCEPTABLE, when I called customer service this morning, they informed me it is because the web site appliance delivery calendar is not 'real time'. While that sounds like the normal thing to say to a customer to give them the run-around and as an excuse, please also realize that the original delivery date was 3 weeks away from the order date - that the web site CLAIMED to be an actual available delivery date!! And if the 'system' is not done in 'real time', why is it up online as if it's the official one? So inconveniencing customers by delaying their delivery by 2 weeks is a normal procedure for the Best Buy Company?

And when I called customer service and explained of how I don't understand why I had to reschedule the installation when the delay is NOT caused by me, the customer service representative went ahead and forwarded me to the main line.
To top it off, I cannot even get a date for installation. Somebody has to call me back to set up a date.

Best Buy, REAL NICE CUSTOMER SERVICE!! I will make sure to inform as many people as I can of such terrible experience so that they do not have to go through the same thing I did.

Misrepresentation
I applied for and was approved for a best buy credit card only for the 0% for 36 months option. the stipulation was that i had to purchase over $999. I spent 2 hours on the phone ordering my products for them to tell me at the end that the 36 months 0% financing only applied to home theatre merchandise. Then a superviosor named Brock gets on the phone to tell me that he's sorry but no one can do anything about it and there is no one above him to speak too. He said there is no one that can call me back. I hung up and tried again and got another rep who assured me I would get my 0% for 36 months. AGAIN, when we got to the end, she tells me I don't qualify for the 36 months because i didn't buy $999 worth of home theatre merchandise.

On top of that the specifications on some of their items are totally incorrect. They have several tv stands listed at 58" tall when in fact they are only 26" tall or less.

The reps will sell you a washer and dryer but neglect to tell you that the hoses, vents, power cords, and other important essentials that are needed for the product to work are not included, and need to be purchased seperately.

When you call the store for an advertised item to purchase, they tell you the item is not in the store, not in the warehouse, and you can only purchase it online.

Online the shipping and handling is rediculous. My purchase totaled $1817, I wanted to add something for $100, and my total ended up being over $2000, they added a second shipping and handling fee on top of the $100 delivery fee I started with.

Their price matching is a joke! When you want an item it's not in the store or in the warehouse, so you have to order it online, and guess what? They don't price match online.

And NOW what do I do with this best buy credit card? Everything I want or need is not in the store, the warehouse, and they jacked up the price online so I can't afford it or finance it.

Dishonest style
I attempted to puchase a t.v online, showed it was available at the store in G.I for pick-up, , they charged my C.C act. the item was NOT available. still they didn't remove the charge, I finally got it removed or so I thought, then called the credit card company, my account was duplicate billed and locked till jan 17th, when I called the store "lyne" the "SO CALLED" manager was UNPROFESSIONAL, , and short with me, never ever trust this bussiness or this person. you will regret it.
