Awful quality products
My husband purchased at best buy online a window unit with heat and air only a few months ago and it melted the cover. We paid over 800.00 for something defective. I spoke with the manufacturer and best buy and continue to get the run around. No one can tell us where the replacement is or when to expect it. we are cold in our home with temperatures in the 30's and need this replaced. The manufacturer tells us we need to talk to best buy and they tell us to call the manufacturer back. No one can answer our questions. When you ask for a district manager of corporate number to complain you get the run around on that too. I am really upset. We should be compensated in some way for all our trouble.

Poor /no warrenty service
I bought a Dell lap top on a vaction trip in MN at Best Buy. I do not have a store near me, so I thougt this is a good time to buy. Well I was wrong, the Dell hard drive failed. I called Dell who said they would send me out a new hardrive with in 3 bussiness days. Boy, I was glad I bought a dell, until I got a call back from Dell stating that since I bought the computer from the Best Buy store they could not provide me any warenty work. I then called Best buy who said I had to bring the lap top to a store. I advised them that I live 2 hrs from a Best Buy store. Well long story...end result after 8 hrs of phone calls...Best buy will not accept any item buy mail ( even if you buy from the net). I tried to call Corp. and talk to a District MGR, after a week of no call back, I called consumer affairs (BEST BUY) and was told that MGR's do not talk with the customer...thats good service there. DO NOT BUY A COMPUTER FROM THESE GUYS UNLESS U LIVE BUY A STORE. I fixed the NEW computer out of my own pocket $170.oo.
Thanks Again Best Buy

Fraudsters and cheaters
I had a year old Hewlett- Packard PC that I didn't have time to tinker with myself after it broke. So I figured I would give Geek Squad a try. After taking a week to get back to me, they said they had no idea what was wrong with the system. I paid my $60 service fee (could have been worse) but then when I went home, the damn thing wouldn't even turn on anymore! When I opened up the machine I found that most of the screws securing the various parts including the power switch were completely missing. Its literally as if I paid for them to break it even more!

Payments
I overlooked sending my Beat Buy monthly payment, so I went to a Best Buy to make my payment to avoid being late. Only I was informed that Best Buy no longer takes payments at the store. Imagine that, an electronics store that is not capable of processing a payment at the sore. I was told that I could either make it online but it would not be posted for several days and a late charge of $39.00 would be added to my account it if didn't get processed before the due date on my statement or over the phone where I would be charged a processing fee of $15.00. This is a nothing but a SCAM! Target will now supply all of my electronic needs and by the way, you can pay your bill at the store.

manager doing illegal things
I was at Cascade Station Bestbuy which is on Airport Way purchasing a labtop. The manager, without my consent ran my credit card to check all my past purchasing history. A few minutes later, the manager comes out and say he cant sell me another labtop because I bought one from a different store in the morning. Isn't that illegal?

one labtop per week
The best buy in Tualitan Oregon only allows consumer to purchase ONE LAPTOP Per week, again that is ONE PER WEEK. They keep track by making you fill out a stupid geek squad paper, and they check before selling to anyone. Especially Asians.

Terrible Customer Service
Terrible Best Buy Customer Service
Re: Conf Nr. BBY01270637001251
Case Nr . 53963215
On November 5, 2008, I ordered a LG Steam Washer 4.5 Cu. Ft Red. @ bestbuy.com . They delivered the washing machine on November 10, 2008. The machine was licking trough the front door, so I called them again and have the machine replaced. On November 13, 2008 they came and pick up the machine but NO other one. I ask them to bring me another one but they said It is not possible because they have to clear the credit card first and then I have to call and place another order. Now the credit card will clear in 2- 4 days and another order. Then 1 more week to get the new machine delivered. I called best buy.com trying to speck with a supervisor for 2 HOURS and no result. Bestbuy.com appliance reps transfer my call to Geek Squard and back again, and than back again. When I got tired and ask for a supervisor I got disconnected, every time and I tried for aprox 2 hours I got disconnected . How is this possible??? Terrible customer service @ bestbuy.com appliances and I prefer to wash by hand than to go trough this again…

Best buy, NEVER AGAIN ! ! !
In my TV setup I have a converter box for premium cable feeding a VCR/DVD/DVR. I've also used a separate VCR fed with basic cable for a input to my picture-in-picture on the TV. This lets me either watch one channel while I record another, or record 2 different channels. The tuner in the old VCR died so I went shopping this afternoon for for a replacement.
Do you know that you just about can't buy them anymore.
The first 2 places I went didn't have any video recorders with built in tuners, none...
I was on Hwy 74 heading toward Monroe so I thought maybe I'd give Best Buy a look, I wasn't really sure I wanted to mess with them at all since I've never been in a Best Buy but what I didn't leave pissed off.
But I figured, what the heck I'm right here at it, let's look.
I went to the video department where a sales person named Gary came over and asked if he could help. I explained to him what I was looking for and he started showing me the premium high end combo units, I told him all I wanted it to do is have a tuner and be able to record.
He said "I've got just the thing you need" and he lead me to another aisle where he pulled out a TiVo unit, I told him I wasn't interested in paying a subscription to TiVo just to record, he said "oh no, you don't have to, that's what that most people don't understand, the TiVo unit will work as a video recorder without connecting to TiVo". I said "are you sure?" he said "absolutely positive".
I read the specs on the box and it really looked interesting, not only did it have a tuner, it had 2 tuners, so it could record 2 different channels at the same time
and it was a DVR that would record 80 hours on it's hard drive.
WOW this looked great, I asked him again if he was sure I didn't need to subscribe to TiVo, "absolutely not" was his reply.
I thought that all that for $150 wasn't bad so I bought it.
After I got home it was a quick install and in just a few moments I was going
through the setup. Then I got to a screen where it wanted me to connect it to the internet or a phone line so it could contact TiVo to download the setup
data. Well, I didn't want to connect to TiVo, I just wanted to be able to record.
After messing with it for about a hour and not getting anywhere I called the Best Buy store where I bought and asked for home video department. It seems Gary had gone home already, so I told the other young guy what my problem was, he said "Gary LIED to you, you have to pay a subscription fee to TiVo to use that unit".
I couldn't believe it.
I told him I wanted to speak to the store manager, he said he was kinda busy but if I'd like to hold he'd page him... When he put me on hold I just hung up and hit redial, when they answered I asked for the manager, I got some young girl assistant manager, I asked her why they had sales people working there that would lie to a customer? She said they didn't and I replied I beg your pardon but you do, I told her the story and what the other guy said about Gary having lied to me.
Of course there's was nothing for me to do but take it all back apart, put it
back in the box, drive the 20 mile round trip and return it.
And I still don't have a new video recorder, the only other thing they
have is almost $300, I'm just not ready to pay that much for one...
Mark my words,
I WILL NEVER, NEVER, NEVER SET FOOT IN BEST BUY AGAIN ! ! !

Broken TV
On May 03, 2008 I purchased a Toshiba Regaza 42" LCD TV. Worked fine until October 4th 2008 when it would not turn on. I contacted 1-800-BESTBUY and got their "Service Department." After waiting a week a service tech came out, looked at the TV for 5 minutes and said he would need to order a part which would arrive in 4-5 business days. After 3 weeks I contacted the "Service Department" and was told the part was on back order until November 26th (which apparently means this model of TV is breaking down all over the country!) I told them this was unacceptable and wanted a new TV, the service manager said he would put an order in and see if this was possible. By some miracle the part showed up a week later. After another week a tech was able to come out, when he compared it to the part he took out of the TV the new part was 4 times smaller than the original. He said according to the info in the box this was allegedly a replacement, then stated that it would probably not work and to watch it. I went back to work came home and the TV would not come back on. Called customer service again and demanded a new TV as it was ridicules that I am now 5 weeks without my $1500 TV. They stated that because of their procedures nothing could be done until a tech came out and verified the TV wasn't working...apparently I must have been lying about it not working.
So, here we are, me having to take more time off work at a personal expense to me to wait so they can "verify" the TV isn't working. Wonder how long I will have to wait for another shoddy, aftermarket part to come in. Allegedly, because this is taking so long I may be able to get a new TV, but how long will that take?
It's wonderful that a retail company like Best Buy, in this economy can afford to string customers along like this. Especially going into the Christmas season when they make over 25% of their store income. I have spent over $5000 in that store this year and will never, every buy from them again. I will recommend to all my friends and family to never buy from Best Buy again and will now go to Sears or some other retailer next time I need to make a major purchase.

Credit (Household Bank)
In 2003, I purchased a computer from Best Buy for a total of around $1, 100 on their "no payments for 12 months" plan. I made regular payments which got the price down to $600 when I lost my job and missed one payment. They demanded everything up front, and of course there was no way that I could pay the full amount, so they (Household Bank) began to add ridiculous fees and interest adding up to about $50 per month. I could do nothing by this time, since they would accept nothing less than the total amount. By the time the total of my bill reached $2, 200 (remember, this was originally $600), they turned it over to creditors, who were willing to make a settlement of $900. I arranged a repayment plan with the creditors, but Best Buy demanded that they extract a payment sooner than my arrangement would allow.
In short, DO NOT EVEN CONSIDER applying for credit with Best Buy, unless you are willing to gamble with your good credit rating. Their credit department is a predatory and vindictive organization that is little better than a legalize mafia.
