Took hard drive and destroyed information
Bought a PC from BEST BUY, when the PC failed to work I brought the defective PC to Best Buy (which was still under warranty) The GEEK squad (what a joke) kept it for a week, running tests, problem (according to their Geek squad) was NOT hard drive, sent PC to Best Buy repair facility to be repaired (don't do repairs in house), Best Buy store put on my paperwork NO NEED TO BACKUP AS IT WASN'T A HARD DRIVE ISSUE. When The Best Buy repair facility received it they said it was the hard drive and replace with new one, without calling me before it was done. When I tried to retrieve my information, was told it would cost me $350 to $1500. I lost my mothers pictures from her funeral (irreplaceable) because I did not have the money to get my data back. If I had known that I needed a backup I would have done it, but the BB store told me no need.

I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER PC FROM BEST BUY!

Best Buy won't honor extended service agreement
In May I renewed the extended service agreement on a television purchased at Best Buy. On June 16th, I took the television in for repair. The Geek Squad couldn't find me in the system. I showed a copy of the agreement, but was told it hadn't been entered into the computer system. I was given a number to call about the agreement. I talked with a service rep who said he would send it to the accounting department and it would be updated in 7-10 days. (Repair could not begin on the television until it was "in the system."

As of today, it's still not entered into the system. When I called today and asked for a supervisor, I was told they would escalate it and it would be entered in the system in 7-10 days.

Work on the TV can't even start until the agreement is entered into the computer system.

Bad company
Why is there not a board that tell of all the great stuff these companies do... I am reading these stories and just have to laugh. I got charged all of this extra interest because I did not pay my bill on time dumba-- no interest for 90days or 12months or 24months if paid in full and min payments are made each month ranging from 1%to 3% of the balance. If payment is missed or later ALL INTEREST FORM DATE OF SALE IS CHARGED I think is cut a dry and is on your statement oh you don't read that stuff well tough you owe... I no the retailer is at fault for you not paying your bill on time... You buy from these companies because they have what you want they did not hold a gun to your head and make you buy. I got a deal I paid less than the next guy I got something for free. I am entitled to pay less than the company paid for that product just because...

Terrible service on appliances
I have had problems with an LG washer for over 3 of the 4 years I've owned it. I was finally talked into one of those service plans that I normally hate to buy. Well here I am 3 years later with the same problem, too many calls to count with several unreturned from customer service department, a supervisor that won't give me anyone else to call in management and still a broken LG washer. It has to be broken and fixed for 90 days before it qualifies as a repair. My machine was fixed 4 weeks ago again supposedly and it is now having the same problem and I'm being told this does not qualify as a repair. Amazing. So for 3 years if your machine breaks down every 89 days it will not be replaced by Best Buy even though you paid $300 plus dollars for the service agreement that protects you.

Amazing. My advice... Go to Sears. They sell great products, they treat their customers with respect and they back their products. Call Jerry in customer service one night and ask him for help and you will see what I'm talking about. He reads from a script does not apologize for the inconvenience and never calls you back.

Tell him I said hello!!!

They're the worst
Went into Best Buy today to buy a Wii Fit. Sales guy went and found one for me in the back. It was the last one in the store. He walked me to the register where we were met by some managerial type idiot who decided that my Wii Fit belonged to the lady standing in the checkout area who had allegedly "called to put it on hold" despite the fact that it had no note on it, was not set aside, and was found for me by the other sales guy. I asked what he thought he was doing (his name was Eaten), and he told me that she called. I said I called. He literally took it out of my hands. So surreal. Then he told me to leave because I was upset. I will never shop at Best Buy ever again. There is always another outlet. I already got a Wii Fit somewhere else.

Another scam
I purchased a brand new Pioneer Elite Plasma Television for $2, 939.99. It was being held at a Boston, MA store location until I was ready to receive shipment. I came to pick up the television to find the box had been opened and television was removed from the packaging. The sales associate assured me that it was "brand new" and was removed by mistake and was safely put back in the box, which was completely false. Upon further inspection, I noticed the unit was covered in layers of dust and looked to have been handled extensively. I then noticed that the serial number of the Pioneer television did not match the serial number on the box that it was said to come in. The product had been switched! At this point the associates tried to discount the TV as an open item and offered me free screen cleaner to make it look “like new”, which was a direct insult to me given the amount of money I had spent on this item. I refused the offer and clearly & simply stated that I wanted an unopened, brand new Pioneer Elite Plasma television (same make and model or better) that I had originally purchased on 4/10/08. Best Buy/Magnolia Home Theatre relentlessly denied me my right to a new unopened television and flatly refused to ship a new one to me and continued to coerce me into a situation to accept the model that had been opened and switched as my only alternative. After several more failed attempts the next day to get what I paid for, I turned to Attorney General’s office for help. It was only after the threat of Consumer Protection that the Best Buy Manager finally complied and said they were able to locate a brand new, unopened television.

I gave Best Buy every opportunity to solve this issue on site and they chose to use a tactic of trying to wear the consumer (me) down over time to get me to agree to their terms to absorb costs associated with their mix-up.

I am seeking damages associated with the store's questionable activity.

Rip off artists
My father bought me a laptop for christmas, and it was a very nice sleek, Toshiba, cost about 2k. Well when we got to the checkout they asked if we wanted their warranty, and insurance. Which cost an extra 200 dollars. We got it as a precautionary. Not 6months later, something went wrong. Suddenly my screen kept on giving me a "Hardware error" so we took it into the Geek squad. They said they would try to fix it, and if I wanted they would make a backup disc(s) for the things on my computer. I agreed, and was charged 100 dollars.

I come back later, (they never called to tell me it was finished, I eventually just went to the store.) and they told me that they couldn't fix it. Well since I had the Insurance and Warranty, I figured it wouldn't be so bad. NOPE! They said that it appeared to be a user error, and that was one thing the warranty, and insurance doesn't cover. They wouldn't tell me WHAT had gone wrong, they just said it was my fault, and so I couldn't get a new laptop.

Well finally I have a new laptop (NOT by Best Buy) and I have those backup discs. I had saved videos that I had from a camera, games, videos I had made, and many pictures. Well I put them in to my laptop, and open the folder. Only like 5 of the videos I had saved on my laptop were on there. So why the fuck did I have to pay 100 dollars, for basically NOTHING that I had on my laptop?

Terrible service
I will NEVER step foot into a Best Buy Store again! They have the WORST service I have ever dealt with. I purchased a JVC 52 inch TV in 9-06 along with the extended warranty. They replaced the lamp last year, then 3 wks ago the TV would turn off, then we would have to wait about 10 min. and restart it. They came out and replaced the lamp and that same day, the problem reoccurred. Obviously, that wasn't the solution, but they did not wait around to test it. A week later, they removed our TV, which at that time, said if it was going to be longer than a week, we could have our TV back till the part arrived. We called yesterday, a week after they removed the TV, and they said it would be another 5-7 days. When I inquired about a loaner, they said it was not in my warranty. I asked them to have my TV brought back until the part came in and they said I would be charged a delivery and pick up fee!

I have heard stories from other people about the horrible service from Best Buy, and now I truly believe it and have been affected by it. I will NEVER buy another product from Best Buy again!

Sincerely,
Denise Sapp.

Consumers beware
Bought a Compaq from the Commack NY store. It didn't work when I got it home. Brought it in for a replacement, was told no they had to 'repair' it. Well, 3 trips of going back and forth and no satisfaction until the 4th time and then it wound up costing me, and I had a warranty, $210.00 for repairs and the technician's 'time' for fixing it. They never honoured anything in the warranty and the Compaq still ***. Went and bought a better model elsewhere’s...Their customer service is the worst! Consumers beware. Do your homework.
