unauthorized payments
In January 2010 I ordered/purchased Bit-Defender Anti-Virus 2010 via the internet, at that time I had a dialup internet connection. After numerous attempts to download the product without success I contacted Bit-Defender via email to inform them that I could not download their product and request a refund. They told me that I had to contact Avangate.com to request the refund which I did, they said I had waited too long to request the refund (one month) I had forgotten to contact them because I was so frustrated by the inability to maintain an internet connection long enough to complete the download of first Bit Defender, then another Anti-Virus product. When I explained this situation to them they stood fast against refunding my money. I them informed them via email and phone that I did not want and would not pay for their service again, Jan. 2, 2011 they sent an email informing me that my 2010 license was about to expire and that I needed to purchase a renewal if I wished to continue this service, and that when I made that purchase I could also enable an "auto-renew" license option. I was also informed in the same email that I would be able to disable the "auto-renew option" at any time by accessing my account at https://secure.avangate.com/myaccount. I notified them via email and phone that I do not want this program and also insured "according to them" that the auto-renew was NOT turned on re; my account. After all this they removed the funds from my checknig acccount AGAIN! DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THEM!

Worst customer and technical support I have ever experienced
Bit Defender has the WORST customer and technical support I have ever experienced. If you are not a computer expert don't buy their product.

Unauthorized charges
This company has charged my bank account without authorization. The subscription to their product had run out and I was not going to renew it. They just took it upon themselves to renew, without my permission.

Un-Authorized credit Card charges
Purchase bit defender previously. Like product. At renewal time, recieved a notice from bit defender that I would automatically be renewed unliess I opted out, no amount stated. Vistied their website but could find no renewal price so decided to opt out. Submitted opt out request. No response, nothing. A few days later I get the same notice again. Again I opt out. This time I get a reply that says the email box to which I replied is not in service and that I needed to contact customer support at provide link. Provided link took me into bit defender / digital river (I have run into digital river before and had similar awful experiences). On the site forms are provided which have drop down lists of problems to select from, none of which include declination of auto renewal. This cycle concludes with bitdefender sending an email that I have been renewed.

I tried various support options through the bit defender web site. The chat does not work. There are numerous avenues to forms similar to requests I submitted already to no avail. Finally found a blank text from that promised a 24 hour response but of course never heard anything.

Found a corprate number. First try I get transferred to customer service, which then ultimatley, after holding, simply disconnects. Kept calling the number, trying various options until I got a real person who promptly transferred me to customer service.

Lack of support
I ordered BitDefender last week and got the online version. Turned out I had the Virus "Antivirus 2010" on my computer. They had me send them much info from my computer, but never sent me the fix as they said they were going to "in the next 30 minutes" -- that was five days ago. Since then I wait for an "attendant" on the phone line but after 6 minutes it disconnects me--this happened 3 times. I have tried their online chat support, but no one shows up. It's as though they have closed up shop. Not sure what to do next except buy a different Anti Virus program. Bit Defender came highly recommeneded on a couple websites. Maybe I was duped.
