The 96 oz Blendtec (5-sided) container with the 4 inch blade is not a 96 oz or 3 quart container. After testing I can proof and demonstrate that it only fits 76 fluid ounces of content into the container before spilling / lid is put in place.
As many know, Blendtec promotes the 3 quart container as the latest hype for greater portion blending. Some consumers out there surely make a blendtec decision just because of the 3 quart container choice. However, now that we know it is not, perhaps consumers consider just buying the blendtec hp3a with the 64 oz jar.
Or, why not just getting the vitamix blender with the 64 oz jar? This 64oz Vitamix jar / container actually fits 80 fl oz and has more power (referring to the 3 hp commercial Vitamix Vita Prep 3). It costs more money but it is also better built. And for those, who don't want to spend $ 495, maybe the OMNI blender with also a 3 hp motor and the 64 oz Polycarbonate container for $ 250 is a greater choice.
Bottom line, I believe factories need to start being more honest. It is not an honest thing to state that a container is a 3 quart / 96 oz container when actually it is about 21 % smaller. That is pretty significant.
Thanks. See the website www.3blenders.com for more info on the subject.
