On Oct 23 my wife and I sat through a presentation at Wisconsin Dells to be informed about the recent updates that Bluegreen had. We currently are an owner and were interested in what more they had to offer. We had plans to upgrade at at a later date but they made us an offer we felt was reasonable. We too bought the sampler pack to lock in a later day price for future points. The one and only criteria we had was that we did not want to have anything submitted to the credit companies as we were in the process of refinancing and wanted nothing what so ever to affect this. We made this very clear to the salesman and the financial officer. Both assured us this would not be the case as it was in house financing. Again we empasized how important this was to us and we wanted nothing to mess this up. No problem they stated!!
Well much to my surprise I checked my credit report the next day and what shows up but a Hard inquiry from Bluegreen. I called Bluegreen and was told by Jay Olson that of course it would be reported to check our credit but he thought it would just be a soft inquiry. So he knew all along that this would get reported. This is not the first time we caught these people up in lies. If you listen to their presentations you will find them contradicting themselves constantly but this is what they are taught so I don't totally blame them. A salesman we had previously told us that they are literally told to push harder if they weren't pushing hard enough and to use whatever it takes... right before he quit. We talk occasionally since that time and he said it was a brutal business that leaves you very stressed out as being deceptive wasn't the exception it was the norm.We contacted a lawyer and were told we could easily sue them from decpetive practices but as he told us the damage was already done and mostly likely they weren't going to care anyway as this is just everyday business for them.
We actually don't have a problem with the time share part of it as we use it frequently but this blatant lie left a very bitter taste in our mouth towards Bluegreen and if our loan is affected in anyway by this legal action will not be out of the question.
A word of caution to anyone that is interested in buying a timeshare from Bluegreen, 1)they will use high pressure sales tactics to get you to sign, even trying the double team technique on you so be very careful as they are good at what they do. 2)There is always a better deal so don't jump on the first one if you are interested in buying.(we got the same deal 9 months later that was a one time deal never to be seen again!) 3)You will never ever sell it for what you paid for it if you can sell it at all. 4)It is NOT an investment no matter what they tell you. (Try to take a loan out on it for the equity you supposedly have in it) 4)It is a vacation and if you can't afford it DON"T buy it. Your maintenance fees will NEVER go away and most likely will increase. Those are lifetime investments and will be there even if you pass it on to your kids. You will pay when you are alive and your kids will pay when you are dead!! Just remember this is a lifetime commitment that you need to seriously look at to see if you can afford it. Do your homework and don't believe everything they tell you...maybe half! If in doubt walk away it costs you nothing but a little time.
We are now stuck. If they offered us what we paid for it we would walk away today. For now we have to take advantage of what we got. Best of luck!

For all of you like myself who bought a timeshare from Bluegreen and was told that they would buy it back if you were unhappy and now you find that what they told you was a lie, I have found a lawyer willing to file a class action suite against Bluegreen. It is about time these people are held accountable. I am now retired and have had my membership for six years. I have never been able to use it. I am banned now because I refuse to pay my maintenance fee.
