BMG may no longer be in business as of this posting. BE WARNED! NRA and otgher collection agencies are trying to collect money for their client, BMG Music Services, which may appear on your credit report.
First, you must contact the collection agency by letter (assuming they contacted you first...if not, you must call them) and request "validation of credit". They MUST supply you with the information they recieved from BMG. You can also request the contact information from them which pertqins to BMG and where they would send the money if they are working on behalf of BMG. If the purchased the debt, it's between you and them.
Second, they need to verify the debt. They will have to contact the original creditor for ALL information pertaining to this debt. If the debt is unverifiable they cannot continue to collect. They must also remove themselves from your credit report.
Be honest...if you owe the money the rightn thing to do is pay. But...if you feel you have been pursued illegally, take action! I am trying to find as many people as possible so that a class action suit can be filed. Write me: [email protected]
I've battled collection companies and won. If you feel, "I did not owe and may have been a victim of identity theft", or, "The statute of limitations was expired", take action. There are many reasons you can go on the attack.
I'm not a lawyer, but they don'y know that!
