Did not keep promise
I talked to my current mortgage holder (Countrywide) about a refinance in March of 2009. They changed over to Bank of America shortly after I started the process. I was told that the only out of pocket cost was the appraisal. I paid them for the appraisal. Two months later, after repeated phone calls with no reply, even to managers, I finally spoke to someone. I was told that I needed to pay for an engineerign report and tie downs. I complained and they then said those fees could come out of the loan at closing. The report came back good. After having my paperwork transfered to time to different people without my knowledge, I was again finally able to reach a live person. I was told then that the loan was denied beacuse my home, a manufactured home had been moved once before. How did they not know this when they held the orioginal martgage and the second? Why was this not asked up front. I now have paid $400 for an appriasal and owe $1075 more to the engineering firm for a report and tie downs that I do not need. By the time this was over, 4 months later, my credit had began to slip and I do not have good enough credit to go to another lender. I believe they should pay for the appraisal, engineer report, and tie downs. I was told I was approved from the start, and the reason listed on the denial letter (that I received two months later) was late payments. I didn't have any when I started the refinance process and wouldn't have had any if what they had told me was the truth!!
