incompetent service & defective merchandise
Total Horrible experience dealing with Bob's. Purchased Entertainment Wall Unit from Bob's for $1, 299. Installation upon delivery was incomplete and had a few defects in the tv console and glass front cabinet and missing pieces for shelving. Bob's "state of the art" delivery system is NOT only NOT state of the art, it is "state of incompetence". Service technicians showing up at times other than the 2 hrs window, at 8pm, 2hrs before scheduled delivery etc. The glass cabinet could not be repaired and had to be replaced 2 times (in addition to the original delivery) because of defects in the cabinet. There is NO Quality control at the manufacturing OR their warehouses. It took 6 wks from initial delivery (and 5 days off from work) until the final resolution. After a 5 page complaint letter directly to Bob himself, I was offered only a return of my $129 delivery fee and a $100 Bob's gift card (which I would never go to again, so it is essentially. worthless. Would never recommend this company.

Damaged furniture
I ordered the Super Bob's Sofa and Love Seat for $1399 plus paid an extra $249 for the Goof Proof Protection Warranty. My cat damaged both pieces and Guardian (the underwriter for the Goof Proof Protection Warranty) told me that I could get a new Super Bob's Sofa and Love Seat to replace the damaged ones. All I had to do was contact Bob's to schedule the delivery.

Bob's tried to deliver my replacement items twice, each time I rejected the deliveries because the replacement items were heavily damaged with pin marks, fluid stains, tears, rips, etc. So I called Customer Care after each delivery attempt to complain. After waiting on hold for upwards of 25 minutes each time, all the customer care rep did was reschedule another delivery. The first rep I spoke to after the first delivery added a note to my file telling the warehouse in CT to inspect my replacement items before shipping them out to me because, according to the rep, Bob's doesn't have time to inspect furniture before it leaves the warehouse. But even after all that, on the next delivery attempt Bob's still delivered the sofa and love seat to me damaged with stains and pin marks.

Yes folks, Bob's normally does not have time to inspect furniture before it leaves their warehouse! So you may think you're getting new furniture after you've paid the full price for it but you're probably getting damaged furniture! Even the delivery guy told us that Bob's usually just cleans up the damaged furniture they take back and resells it to another customer at full price. He also said that he had to deliver replacement furniture to customers 6 or 7 times before the customer finally got new furniture. We thought it was weird for the delivery guys to ask us to come down and inspect the furniture before they brought it up to our house but it makes total sense now!

Bob's is cheap for a reason and I guess you get what you pay for. I would NOT recommend buying anything from Bob's Discount Furniture! I've requested a full refund since Bob's cannot own up to its promise to replace damaged furniture with new furniture under their Goof Proof Protection Warranty.

terrible service and product
this store is the worse, and i would love for anyone who has dealt with the nightmare like me and my girlfriend, with terrible customer service and product, to join me in taking them down.. email me at [email protected].. only for those who have dealt with losing time with work and recieving poor delivery and product more than once.. we should not let them get away with it.. email me and we will discuss what we can do..

Terrible product, poor CS, lying sales team, on and on and on
If you are looking for furniture that stands the test of time and whose namesake backs up their product; stay far away from Bobs! Their customer service is not helpful, but they are polite. The CS at Bob's Corporate does not return phone messages (we left 7 over the span of a month). Their "Goof Proof" covers nothing, is a scam, and is a waste of money. The "Goof Proof" reps chalk up everything as "customer misuse" despite their product being garbage.

Here's the Bob's complaint list:

1 $1, 000 couch, 3 missed days of work due to claims visits to investigate 1" tears in places where we don't even sit (not on time by the way), 1 extremely rude claims representative that visits your house, 1 lying salesman (who produced a pen and stabbed the couch 50 times to show us that it would not rip or tear), 1 tear within 1 month of purchase, 5 tears within 6 months of purchase, 1 piece of wood which is poorly padded (just happens to be the place you lay your head) and 16 months of trying to get satisfaction from this company. Pointless. Spend the money, go to a reputable furniture store with reputable product and respectable customer service. Bob's merchandise isn't even worthy of a compost pile in my humble opinion.

Scam
On June 27th, 2010 I went with my two cousins and my niece to get furniture for them because they recenty moved here to NY. Going to the Bob's discount furniture store, spent over $2, 000 and I was told that it would be delivered to my house Friday July 2nd, 2010. They told me there was no specfic time and I had to pretty much wait all day for them to arrive. While we were waiting for them at 10 a.m., the shipment arrived about 2 p.m. Out of the 12 items I purchased, only 4 came. I called the office and all I was told repeatedly by a woman named Diane that the delivery was sent and to just sit and wait. I asked them if there was anyway they could find out or give me any information and she told me once again "All day, All day!" I had a feeling something was wrong because I didn't understand why my shipment would come at different times and not all at once. I then called around 5 and once again "All Day" was told to me. Finally I called at 9 p.m. and spoke with someone named Will and they told me the warehouse was closed and that they will take care of it first thing in the morning and they will call back tomorrow. It was very bitter for me because I had an empty condo with nothing in it!!! Also, I didn't want to leave my condo because I was afraid I'd miss them! I wasted my whole day waiting for them to call and now I'm being forced to wait for them to call me the next day!! I called them today (July 3rd, 2010) because they didn't get back to me and they told me to call back because they were in a meeting. I asked if the store manager named Andre Rodriguez can personally call me. It is now 3:30 p.m. and I still havent gotten a call back from anybody especially from the store manager.

I DO NOT recommend going to Bob's because their Customer Service is Horrible. I am waiting for them to call back just so I can return the items!! Maybe if they read this I'll get a call!!!

Two thousand bucks worth of furniture!

BED BUGS
This Spring I purchased a bedroom set from Bob’s Discount Furniture. After a week and a half later I noticed that my daughter and I were getting bitten by an insect. It never occurred to me that these bites were being caused by bed bug and that soon my apartment would be infested with them.

After 3 week of getting bitten and two visits to the pediatrician I was informed by my daughter’s doctor that the bites were most likely due to bedbugs.

I then proceeded to visit a hardware store and purchased
$50 worth of products. After using the products the bed bug problem was confirmed. I never had this problem before, a family member requested I do some online research on other customers who had the same problem after purchasing from Bob’s. I then proceeded to do online research on bed bugs and on customers who had similar problems and I found the following same complaints;

After my research I was stunned to know that my hard earned money went to such a cruel scam. I contacted Bob’s and they informed me that the insurance I had purchased does not cover bedbugs. (Of course it does not, if it did, no one would purchase a thing from them)
After contacting Bob’s Customer Service, the Better Business Bureau and Bob’s cooperate office I received the following statement:
From Tiffany Long, Bob’s Corporate Liaison: Bed bugs are a nationwide problem that affects retailers, hotels, colleges, multiple dwelling units and many other public domains. Bob's Discount Furniture takes scheduled drastic measurements to ensure that our trucks, warehouses and merchandise are not infested with any type of bugs, rodents etc. For this reason as well as, the length of time between delivery of the furniture and the day the bugs were reported they are unable to exchange or provide a refund. They are not accepting my claim.

This is Bull, if this was true why so many others have similar stories. I have spent hundreds of dollars on an exterminator, extermination products, cleaners, laundry etc. I have had to get rid of my daughter’s favorite toys, memorable belongings, furniture etc.

I’m emotionally drained, my daughter has developed migraine headaches and has been seen by a physician numerous of times due to this condition. It has been determined that the headaches are due to the products I am obligated to use in my apartment and on our daily clothing.

At this time I would like to continue to stay in contact with other customers who have had the same experience. I there is a lawyer out there that is willing to provide free advise or free representation please email me. We should work on filing a CLASS ACTION LAW SUIT ON BOB's.

REPLACMENT OTTOMAN
BOBS DISCOUNT IS A FRAUD. I PURCHASED A SECTIONAL PIECE THAT INCLUDED AN OTTOMAN. AFTER HAVING THIS PIECE FOR A YEAR THE OTTOMAN BEGIN TO FALL APART. WHEN I PUCHASED THIS PIECE I ALSO PURCHASED AN ADDTIONAL WARRANTY. I PUT IN A REQUEST FOR A REPACMENT BACK IN JANUARY AD IT IS KNOW THE MIDDLE OF MAY AND STILL NO OTTOMAN. I CALLED THE STORE AND I HVE BEEN HUNG UP ON FROM A SUPPOSE TO BE HIGH RANKING PERSON THE "SUPERVISOR". MY OTTOMAN IS PUSHED OFF INTO A CORNER BECAUSE IT LOOK BAD WHEN I HAVE COMPANY HOW IS THIS FOR CUSTOMER SERVICE. IT I AD IT MY WAY I WOULD WARN OTHERS NOT TO PURCHASE FURNITURE FROM THIS STORE THEY DONT CAREABOUT YOU IT IS ALL ABOUT YOUR MONEY.

Defective Furniture
to start with discount in the name says it all. We bought a living room set to find out no sooner the store stopped carrying the set I bought. The fabric is fading and discolored and is getting stretched like crazy. Awaiting a tech but since the one year warranty is over and even though I have the goof protection I'll probably be stuck with this junk.
A salesman at the store made it sound like they would credit us my purchase price but customer service made no such inference.

Stay away at all costs
Don't bother purchasing Bob's insurance. My kids drawers on their bed and on their dressers are all broke and when they came out to check, they said first they don't carry that set any long and second, if it was an accident, like the dresser fell or the drawers fell and broke, then they would cover them otherwise the insurance wont. Now tell me how can drawers break and fall if they are 2 inches from the floor. I asked her if I basically have to lie to get another set, and she said basically. I told her that it was not right to have to lie, when all the faces came off the drawer because it was held on by staples. Not worth the trouble.

Lies
In November we ordered a livingroom set. It was due to come in within 6-8 weeks. Went to the store 5 weeks later and paid the balance. I asked then when it would be delivered and found out it would not be in until the middle of January. I was mad they did not call and let me know. I talked to our salesman Don 5 minutes later and he didn't believe it. He went on his computer and then told me the set would not be in until the end of February. Big difference in time. Talked to my husband and we decided to change sets. My husband is a retired contractor. He measured the downstairs for me and I brought the measurement with me to Bob's. Their sales person Rose then helped me. She measured everything to make sure it would fit through the door. She said the couch was only 36inches wide. Along comes delivery day. The loveseat is 41 inches wide and the couch in 44 inches wide. The couch has to be returned. We ordered another loveseat to be delivered that week. I spoke with their sales person Jamie. He said I would get a $53.00 refund and the check would be sent in the mail. That beings us to today(12/28/09). It's been over 10 days and no check. I just got off the phone and was informed that in order to receive the check Jamie had to request it from customer service which he did not do. Even after all this we were still going to get one more chair that matched the set. I was told that we could not just come in and pick up the chair in Orange. We would have to have it delivered and pay another delivery charge or we could go pick it up in Norwich(45 minutes from us) and not be charged for delivery. You would think that after all these screw ups that they would do something to correct all their mistakes. I would not recommend anyone to purchase anything from Bob's in Orange, Ct. since they no clue on how to conduct business. Nor do they have proper business ethics. Linda Miller
