SafeGaurd protection
Purchased high dark wood cherry kitchen table with the built in leaf inside back in 2005. YOu can walk by it and the screws from the chairs would just fall out.
Well I finally opened the table up wiht the help of 6 of my adult friends, we were able to use the that extra piece to make the table larger. For years I would call up and they kept givning me an accuss, oh the wood swelled up.. Its Winter. ..
Well make a long story short, No one is willing to help me, open the table and tuck the leaf back in .. My table is stuck and wont open...
BOB DISCOUNT SPEAKS FOR ITS NAME.. POOR QUIALITY, POOR CUSTOMER SERVICES,
he stands by nothing but your money..

I will NEVER buy anything from them again..

also purchease a living room set.. I wont even tell you about that case..

Poor Quality and service
I purchased a bedroom set about fifteen months ago. While I was recuperating from a severe abdominal surgery, I attempted to use the side of the headboard (mattress height) to offer myself assistance to get out of bed because the mattress I purchased from them as well, has acquired a settled slump where I sleep. The TOP of the headboard snapped and sent me sprawling onto my bedroom floor, my face and the four healing wounds on my stomach. I got a ride into the store and attempted to speak to a sales woman about the situation. She had no idea what to say to me besides call customer service, "we don't carry that set anymore" (hmmm... wonder why?) when I began asking questions about replacing it, the saleswoman answered that she didn't know..which is how the remainder of my questions were also answered. So I call customer service and explain that not only is the mattress defective but so is the headboard. To which the woman replied Oh, I'm SO sorry for the inconveinence over and over again. And then tells me that no, they don't carry it anymore and even if they DID??? They can't do anything to help me because my year warranty has expired. I said, "youre kidding me right?" So you sell me a defective piece of furniture, which in all senses should last beyond a year, and youre okay with this? you obviously don't stand behind your merchandise. Customer service responds with "we don't make the furniture ma'am, we just sell it". I said, " I work in retail, my dear. We don't make our product either, but when it comes back and its defective? We satisfy our customer because we stand behind our product and we give a damn if they return to our stores...SO, lets set up the appt for someone coming to look at the mattress and then put me thru to someone above you" to which she actually HUFFED into the phone, put me on hold and for fifteen minutes, I sat there listening to repeated clicks of someone putting me on hold over and again. THIS is how I get rewarded for spending over two thousand dollars of my HARD EARNED money??? I didn't sell anyone a bunch of junk to get my paycheck-- I sold quality merchandise to SATISFIED customers to pay for that bedroom set and never once in my eighteen years of retail management have I ever spoken the sentence, "we really can't do anything for you". thats the worst thing to say to someone who not only deals directly with hundreds of people per day, but, who clearly knows that word of mouth carries quite quickly when the news is negative and ten people will hear about one bad review before one single one hears a positive one.. especially in today's economy when the dollar is tight and people still need things from you. I will never return to that store, my family and friends will refrain from shopping there, and my response to that is "oh, I'm SO SORRY for the inconveinence " of reduced sales.

Mattress
I recently fell under the sucker category falling for the price gimics and "it's the same as the brand name but with a different label" tricks. I purchased a Black Label pillow top mattress from Bob's and it's lumpy, shorter than a normal Queen size, and the headboard end of the mattress is not square, but it's cut at an angle and when the mattress is flush against the headboard there is 2-3 inch angular-gap from left to right. It's so ridiculous looking. And, I went back to the other major player (the ones whcih shows Imax movies) hint...hint... and tried the real thing again and now I'm kicking myself. And yes, the associates (not all...) but most are pushy and in one case I had down right rude. It was like we were bothering him because he had to reduce himself to help me out in the mattress dept.

My advice...pay a bit more...be satisfied with your purchase...and sometime it's not worth going generic!

I purchased furniture from "BOB'S' that was a special order. It was delivered on 06-07-08. I immediately had to call the same day with a problem and subsecently 2 other times within 90 day's. The furniture was sent back due to defect's which could not be rectified, I.E. we no longer carry this item"LANE", to you can come in and select something different and we'll make up the difference up to 100.00 in the form of a gift card.Now I'am told that I not only can't get back the sales tax but I'm out the 130.00 for the delivery charge!THEY WERE CALLED THE SAME DAY THE FURNITURE WAS DELIVERED DUE TO A DEFECT!" Now I'm called 3 day's after the delivery telling me I must come in to input my "PIN #" so I can receive a partial payment! EXCUSE ME IT 'S FROM THE SAME ACCT.!" This was on Sunday 11-09-08., by the time I went there and returned home the "Debit part had already been credited to my acct., the same acct that was put thru as a credit by them and still no money! I tried to emaial them thru 2 different server's and the maial was returned undeliverable!? "EXCUSE ME!" His ad's state "NO PHONY GIMMICK'S JUST PURE VALUE!" He has his product back were's my money!?

Company is a Joke
I wish I had found these reviews prior to going to Bob's Discount Furniture. I have never received such awful customer service-especially now when they should be appreciating any business they can get! I got my table set home, only to open it up the next day to find the wrong color was enclosed-even though correct color noted on box. I was basically told it was my fault for not checking sooner, then told they could not come exchange it. Once they finally "did me the favor" of putting in the exchange, I actually had to PAY and additional fee to have the incorrect one taken away, and correct one brought. I could not return it, because I would only get a store credit, for an item that was incorrect on their end! I paid the fee, as a credit to a store I will NEVER set foot in again would be worthless, so I might as well try and get something out of my horrible experience!!

Terrible service
Ok so we have had our furniture for 3 years now. I have had to call for service 5 times so far on our sofa, cuddle seat and our bed. This last time that someone came out was for the fact that the microfiber is starting to peel off the sofa. Well they cant fix it because of the fabric that it is.

Over the last year we have been having problems with our bed. The delivery people are worthless and never put the bed together the right way, so over the 1st year the bed was getting damaged. So I called and they came out and put some metal things on my wooden frame. Okay that lasted awhile. Now the frame makes some much noise that even when my 42 lb 4 year climbs on the bed it makes noise. It can actually wake you up at night when my husband or I even move. We have had the bed for 3 years and there is nothing else they can do for us, since they already came out once to fix the problem.

So needless to say we got what we paid for.

Defective Furniture
I ordered an electric fireplace from Bob's, to be delivered which was mandated, would not allow me to pick up this piece. Came to my house damaged, door was warped. Speaking to their delivery men was difficult, especially since they spoke little English. They put me in touch with their "Customer Service" department, they wanted to send a repair man to fix, I told them I wanted a new piece, the door was defective. After discussing at length, they agreed to send me a new one. On the following Saturday, delivery was scheduled for 8:56AM to 11:56AM. At 7:30AM a message is left on my phone requesting an earlier delivery, please call back in 15 minutes if this is okay. At 7:32AM they were at my door with the WRONG PIECE. When I called their CUSTOMER SERVICE department, they had no record of my delivery for that day. I went to the store in Farmingdale and was assured by the store manager Ilan Amouyal that the next delivery would be fine. On Wednesday, the delivery was scheduled for first stop, 7:30AM approximately. At 7:40AM I receive a call from CUSTOMER SERVICE that the delivery man is ringing my bell, no answer. I am home, check the door, no truck. No one on the phone anymore either. 5 minutes later the delivery man calls, will be by you in 30 minutes, never at my home earlier. Calls to CUSTOMER SERVICE that morning never returned, put on hold for 25 minutes. Furniture arrives, and guess what, both doors on the piece are defective. I refused the piece, went to the store and spoke to manager "B" Randy Singh. He too promised a resolution by that evening or the next morning. Still no return phone call. Visited the store on Saturday and spoke to Ilan who credited me back 30% of sale, I requested the delivery charge to be waived, would not. Offered gift cards, never received them. Worst furniture, CUSTOMER SERVICE, AND MANAGEMENT team. Bob's Discount Furniture seems to be Bob's Junk Furniture instead!

Awful products
We bought a sofa and loveseat set back in April. The delivery, price and appearance of the sofa were all good. However we had to order a new sofa cushion after our puppy peed on it. We ordered it at the beginning of June and it is now October 13 and still no cushion. They cashed our check though back in June. at least 15 calls later they promised it would be here by Oct. 10- guess what! no cushion. I will never shop at Bob's again. And don't buy their "goof proof" protection- it is a rip off. They sent someone out and all they did was spray stuff on it and rub it in with a wire brush, and we still had to pay for a new cushion that we never got.

Most awful service
I have never had such horrible service! Bob's Discount furniture first delivered the wrong slats to our bed 5 times! They also would not set up a special delivery time for us, when THEY WERE THE ONES WHO MESSED UP! Every time I spoke with them they made me feel like it was my fault. The people they have working customer service are the rudest people I have ever spoken to. Finally after many calls to corporate, I received a gift card. Bob's Discount also must have the worst computer system because no matter how many times you give them information, they continue to tell you that they don't have your information. I tried to order an additional night stand for our bed room set (which was discontinued) from the pit center and instead of charging us $62 dollars, my fiancee checked his banking online and they charged us $340. The women that he spoke with was rude once again and clueless and told him she couldn't do anything. When she tried to pull up our order she kept saying that she did not have the phone number he gave, yet we had just spoke to the pit center who pulled the order up with the same phone number. Everyone is useless that works for this company and at this point we probably won't even use the credit that they gave us because we are so sick and tired of horrible horrible service. Every time I see the commercials about how great there customer service is, I WANT TO THROW UP!!

Awful service
We purchased bedroom set for 14 year old girl 12/02. By April of 04 the dresser was bowing in the middle. We purchased the goof proof for an extra $100.00. Guardsman told me "you live too close to the beach, that caused the particle board to warp, and so sorry, we don't cover warping..."

Appalled, I let this go. I admit, my fault. Recently stopped by Bob's to see if maybe we could replace the dresser, as of course it has worsened. Now none of the drawers close. (this child is now 18). Salesman told me they would come out on best effort service.

Tech came out on 8/8/08 He said "staples hold this thing together" so he replaced the staples with screws but said "you have to call guardsman to have them come out and rebuild the dresser". He put me on the phone with parts dept at Bobs who assured me even though warranty expired with Guardsman, he would speak to his liaison and help me out. He dropped the call, but I was still holding with the Guardsman music.

Guardsman said, we see your claim, it's been PENDING since April 2004. WHAT???? OK, what do you need? They requested copy of invoice with case number, which I immediately mailed to them, as I had my notes on it from the call in 4/04.

On 8/19/08 Guardsman called to deny any claim, stating that I was out of warranty, and they waited 4 years for me to mail the copy of my invoice! I asked to speak to a sup, and was referred back to Bob's customer service.

Now the Bob's rep says, we'll send the tech back to your house, because "I AIN'T GOT NO IDEA WHAT HE TALKIN BOUT"... that call was set up for 8/26.

Ah, no show, no call. I called. Found out that call had been cancelled by the service department, on 8/21 as tech said he couldn't do anything else, and was caused by customer abuse!

This rep called Guardsman, who said out of warranty is out of warranty, and the claim has aged out of the system. Guardsman says "no further options".

Bob's rep says, let me send a DIFFERENT rep to your house. He showed up today 9/4/04, and guess what... this is a manufactures defect... center bar snapped, support under top of dresser off... oh well, so sad lady, can't help you.

He put me on the phone with yet another Bob's rep, who reiterated the same. You're out of warranty...

I asked how to contact someone other than her, and was told, "there isn't anyone, but you can write to Consumer Relations
