Bombay Company Reviews

Spam e-mail advertisements

I've been bothered by frequent e-mail advertisements sent by The Bombay US Company (a furniture store)

Actually, I started living in Canada several months ago and was looking for furniture at several stores including "The Bombay" in Canada.

I found some goods very interesting there and started checking their web and noticed that I was able to go net shopping. But later, through phone communication, I was told that most of them are only available for US customers and I even noticed that Canadian web is no longer available. Why could I register with my Canadian address, then??

Strange thing is when I visited The Bombay store nearby to inquire some items I found in the web page, and asked if I could get e-mail address to place an order or check the availability, a staff didn't give me his address and just told me web address which is no longer helpful.

I gave up shopping at The Bombay and asked the company to stop sending adds mails. Once they accepted my request by returning my mail, however, they keep confusing e-mails (I mean I cannot shop through these web) I reminded them two more times. But it seems like they ignore my e-mails... It has nothing to do with sales contract or anything, but I insist that they sychologically bother me by sending adds every second days!!!

I came to hate even passing the nearby store these days. Please tell me how to solve this problem.

p.s. Please see the following e-mail communication between The Bombay's representative and me.

Thank you for your request. I have removed you from our US emailed newsletter, if you would like I can add you to our US version. Thank you for choosing Bombay!

Comments: I'd like to ask you not send me e-mails any more. I live in Canada and your information doesn't help much. (I had several inquiries and everytime I only got disappointed as you have limited items in 'Canadian' stock.... )

False advertising, refuse to accept return
The description and picture of this item clearly states that the blocks have rattan, wood, metal and stone on each one, and look good in the picture. I received these in late September, but because I was painting the room I wanted to hang them in, I didn't open the box for several weeks. I was shocked to see they were merely painted, with no embellishments. I began sending emails to return these in November, and after four attempts, finally got a reply saying "sorry, you can only return after 30 days". I think any reputable company would take back merchandise that has so clearly been falsely advertised and promoted. I wonder if anyone actually got the blocks that were described.
