Management
I'm a former employee of the Sonic Drive In. I was employed there for over a year, and during that time I witnessed the employees, myself included, being degraded and verbally abused by the management. However, the abuse escalated when Boom Foods brought back Lisa, a former manager to take the GM position. She continuously berated the staff including the other managers in front of the crew. In addition, she would come into the store and spend the entire day on her cell phone, I caught her sitting on the stockroom shelves several times. She would call and berate the suppliers, for example the bread man for what she deemed his "ignorance of how much product to supply the store with". Not to count the fact that employees are often made to work 12 plus hour days with no time allotted for a break or even the opportunity to go to the bathroom. Initially I was told by other employees that Lisa was going to "whip the store back into shape" because she didn't put up with anything. But instead it has come down to a matter of whether or not the employees are going to be able to withstand the abuse from Ms. Richmond. Upon giving my notice to her I was berated for being a irresponsible employee although I was quite responsible enough for her to call in to cover the schedule when she failed to schedule enough employees to cover the shifts adequately, for example having a single carhop during Happy Hours or one cook in the kitchen during lunch. Ms. Richmond needs to reasses the way that she treats her employees, as well as the customers. Personally I feel that Boom Foods needs to asses the way that they are allowing their investments to be run because Sonic has the potential to be a lucrative business but with employers like Lisa there is likely going to be no one willing to work there to ensure that the business remains functioning.
