On September 14, 2009 I order the so called fast delivery theater chairs from Boston Tables. I asked that the merchandise be delivered on September 16 or 17, 2009. I received a call from Pitt Ohio Express, the Freight company who would be delivering the merchandise we set a delivery time for September 17, 2009. Boston Tables only offers free curbside delivery. In accordance with the companies curbside policy, I had assistance at my on to help me to bring the merchandise in my home.
Around 4:00 pm on the delivery day, I decided to check to see if the mercandise was in route, it was at that time I was informed my mercandise had not been shipped because the shipping company forgot to include my merchandise in with its shipments for that day. The company ask me if I could accept the delivery the next day, I said no because I would not have any assistance at my home to help me move the merchandise in my home. So I told them I am will have to cancel the order. They called me back and asked if they could deliver the merchandise between 6pm & 8pm. I told them the only way I could accept a delivery between 6 & 8 if it the shipping company would assist me with putting the mercandise in my home if I no longer had my own assistance. My assistance had been at my home since prior to 1:00pm and could not stay until possibly 8:00pm. They decline and so I told them to still consider the order cancelled.
Boston Tables has refused to give me a full refund charging me for shipping cost even though the shipping company made the error and the mercandise was never in route to my home. They also respond to a complaint I filed with the BBB that they shipped the merchandise on the agreed upon day, therefore they held up their end of the agreement. The shipping policy states the freight company should make an delivery time and date appointment within 24 hours of the delivery, and they should give reasonable notice of the delivery time to assure the customer has made appropriate arrangement to get large or heavy items in to their homes. Informing me after 4:00 pm that they could not deliver the shipment at the scheduled time between 1pm & 5pm, and asking me to reschedule was not reasonable.
The merchandise was never in route to my home, the company also did not give reasonable notice of changes in delivery time, and therefore is not owed any shipping fees for shipping merchandise to my home.
The customer service rep Deana was very rude after I cancelled the order and the company President Mr. Robinson is equally rude. They put all kind of lies in the companys' response to my complaint with the BBB. Including the lie that the freight company was in route to my home when I cancelled the order. The shipping trace clearly shows the mercandise was never scheduled to be delivered to my home in Upper Marlboro, MD on September 17, 2009.
