Complaint as posted on BP Website:

Sir / Madam,
On May 8th 2011, I had pumped 13.364 gallons of gas (grade: Gold) from pump #17 at BP site ID: 00008740177 ( 945 N Battlefield Chesapeake VA). The auto-shutoff clip mechanism on the lever had malfunctioned leading to an overflow. This is a true fire hazard!!! As a vigilant customer I immediately released the clip. I also reported this incident to the store attendant Ebony immediately. Her response was unsatisfactory and truly careless. She explained that I did not know to use the clip mechanism. However my question to you is why would you have a faulty hazardous mechanism without instructions on usage.

Sir/Madam, this incident could have caused lives! Neither the store attendant or you should take this lightly. Please get back to me for any further details. Hope you respond to this complaint and fix that pump as soon as possible.

On Wednesday, April 21, I attempted to purchase gas from this gas station at approximately 5:35 a.m. in the morning. My account balance was roughly $87.00. I inserted my debit card into the machine, it verified the account and I proceeded to start the pump. At this time, the pump would not start; therefore, I restarted the transaction. When I started the transaction again, my card was denied.

I discussed this incident with the attendant/teller at the gas station, and he was not customer friendly, extremely rude, and on top of that, told me that I had nothing on my card. My card was depleted. Therefore, I left the store, preceded home, with no gas. At this point, I could not get to school or work.

Therefore, due to this careless action, I lost two days of school time which equal to: $250-$500 per day and lost wages of $150, in addition to losing the balance on my card.
I want to be compensated for this mishap and negligence.

About 7 weeks ago I changed gas stations because mine closed down. I started using BP gas. All of a sudden my truck started bucking, sometimes it wouldn't start. I had to have it towed to my mechanic many times. well nobody could figure out what was wrong. 3 different mechanics. diagnostics done and $2800.00 later still the same problems. Every part on my truck was changed. I have had this truck for 9 years and I was to the point of selling it for parts to try to recoup some of my money if it couldn't be fixed. well I about 10 days ago I was thinking what has changed. Then I thought THE GAS. Nobody believed me, but I switched gas stations and the problems stopped. HAS ANYBODY HAD SIMILAR PROBLEMS, I REALLY WOULD LIKE TO KNOW. Its only been 10 days but it starts even in the coldest of weather. It runs great now. But that was an expensive lesson. I have not talked with the manager of BP gas yet. I will wait until after the holidays to make absolutely sure it was the gas. I would like to get some of my money back. My mechanic is on my side. CAN ANYONE TELL ME WHAT THEY THINK MY ODDS ARE. SORRY THIS IS SO LONG Thanks Frustrated at Christmas.
