On a trip my van began to over heat. Since my family was on an out of town trip I stopped at the first garage we found open. Which happen to be a BP Procare Automotive Service Center.
The mechanic looked my car over and told me that it would cost $509.33 to fix. He stated that I needed a new radiator and thermostat. The mechanic stated that he inspected the engine for any further damage "none was apparent". Being out of town with two small children I didn't feel I had any options. So we allowed him to do the repairs.
Well, the repairs lasted for three hours. The car again began to overheat. This time I was able to take it to my usual garage. With only the description of the problem my usual mechanic told me I was losing the head gasket on the engine. He said the head gasket was the reason for my original problem. To this day we have not had a problem since the gasket was replaced.
Procare's warranty states "If the results of the repair or service fail to correct the problem for which they were made…we will, at our option, either make the necessary adjustment free of charge, or refund the original cost of the repair." Since I was over three hours from the nearest Procare the only viable option was to refund the cost of the repair. Procare has refused to do so, only refunding the cost of the thermostat $69.72.
Clearly this company does not stand behind their warranty. Don't trust them.
