I still owe after canceled service - 22 false alarms
I signed up with my new home purchase and agreed to prepay one year & pay $99 activation fee. Shortly there after I was in Europe on business and recieved a call that my front door alarm was going off, resetting and going off again. Came home a week later to find 5 notes from police and a fine for false alarms. Repair man came out and spent 4 hours going over system. Worked for one week straight, then the same false alarm. Another day off work to wait on repair man. Two more hours and system deemed fixed after puting all new sensors in. Flash forward a few month of no issues till my next business trip in Chicago. Same MO, front door alarm going off and resetting. Come home with fine from Police and form letter stating that the Police has put a DNR (do not respond) on my address. I call my friends at Brinks to complain and tell them to cancel my service immediately...this is June 2007. After that I never set the alarm again. Now I recieved a call from a collections agency saying I owe them $335 on my contract. I am shocked as you might imagine. I call their customer service, get run around, and am told there is no-one in the company that will talk to me about the matter...but I can write a letter. Even after I expalined I do not recall signing a three year contartct and even if I did I should have the right to cancel as the service was awful. DO NOT DEAL WITH THESE PEOPLE!! I am still in denial about how this is going to play out but I am certain I will be out some money...

6yrs customer- Responsible for 3mths of charge even after canceling
I have been a Brinks customer for 6 years. I called to cancel the service a while ago but they kept sending balance due notices. I called again to cancel and the guy talked me into signing a contract for $180 a year and issued a "Credit" for the earlier balance due. After I received the contract, I decided not to pursue it as it was still expensive for me for the level of service I was receving. I called to inform them that I will not be signing the contract and to cancel all the services. The lady was really nice when she was still trying to sell me the contract. But when I insisted on canceling, she put the earlier balance due (that was "Credit"ed by the other guy) back on my account. I kept saying that I called earlier to cancel but she wouldnt listen because I am no longer a contract. They dont have a "record" me calling them to cancel. Is that my fault?

In summary Horrible customer service. If you treat a customer of yours for six years (paying every month like clock work) like this - not sure how you will survive in this down economy. I am for sure going to tell everyone I know and all the websites I can complain on.

Will not release from contract
I was transferred in my job from Wesley Chapel FL to Indianapolis IN and moved with friends until my house sold in FL. I called Brinks to discontinue my service with them and was told I was under a 3 year contract ( which was not explained when purchased ) and that unless Icould show proof that I joined the military or was renting, I could not be released from my contract and threatened to turn me over to collection if I did not pay. I could provide neither. On 01/01/09 my house in Florida sold and once again I called to try to cancel my contract, which remains in force for another 15 months. What poor business practices ... is there anything that can be done ? Recommend Brinks ... hardly !! Customer friendly ...not !! Not my choice to move ... but certainly my choice not to ever use this company again. Shame on these people for being they way they are - and bragging about what they aren't.

cancel contract
Wrote a letter to the EDT dept.asking to end my service as I was moving out of state and the house was under other contact. They mail me a letter to show proof that I moved, which I did. Called their customer service .switch me to collection I explain the problem, still with many calls and letters no help, also the contact I sign didn't have any length of time on it. They sent me the copy with a 3 yrs contract, the same contract I have where someone wrote a 3 yr. in the block on the contract, my copy doesn't have that. Which I mailed them, still no help. Now I am recieving a notice from a collection patry. What can I do? Help ME

Extended Warranty
Why purchase the extended warranty? I just recently went through Hurricane Ike and now my system does not work. I have their extended warranty plan so I called for assistance. Only to be informed that the insurance I have been paying for doesn't cover any type of disaster.

What a joke!

Failure to pay damages!
We had Brinks Home Security install a home alarm system. I have no problems with their alarm. It seems to work fine. Their installers, however, unplugged our freezer during their installation and it resulted in $1,500 worth of steaks and other food being destroyed. We called Brinks and after 6 months of phone calls, they decided they'll pay us $500. Even though we have the damaged good, they're claiming we have no proof. They claim they wanted paper receipts for all items. We gave them pictures of all the damaged items showing the prices. They still refused to give us the full value of the food. This company will screw you.

Horrible company!
I bought an alarm system from Brinks Home security at the beginning of 2007 and have had nothing but problems. The alarm goes off at least once a week for no apparent reason. After calling Brinks and being transferred to 8 different people, I finally was able to speak to someone who told me that I would have to wait a week to get a service appointment. I am paying an additional $5 for a service contract and the rep on the phone says it only covers limited things and this is not one of them. WHAT AM I PAYING $5 EXTRA FOR??? I asked to cancel the $5 service plan and she goes on to tell me that I cannot cancel it because it is in my contract terms. Now I am furious so I say fine just send someone out to my house. I called on a Tuesday and they sent someone out on Wed (8 days later). The tech did a full check up and said it was the motion sensor, he changed the motion sensor. He leaves, I set it and go to work, I am at work for about 2 hrs and I get a call from Brinks that my alarm is going off again. WTF!!! I just had someone at my house that "fixed" it. They make arrangements to send a tech back to my house to meet me after 5pm (I'm not missing any more work). A different tech comes and tells me, its not the motion, it is the glass break detector in my family room so, he changes that. About a week goes by, everything seems to be back to normal, than my wife comes home from the grocery store to find a cop car in front of the house and all of the neighbors out on their front lawns. THE ALARM WAS TRIPPING FOR 30 MINUTES AND NOBODY BOTHERED TO CALL MYSELF OR MY WIFE. Now I have had it with Brinks, I told them to power down the system and take it out of the house, they do so. They have been auto billing me every month $37.03 out of my checking account for an Alarm that I don't even have anymore. I am in the process of getting legal help to get my money back. I warn all out there, stay away from Brinks, the sales rep made everything sound peachy keen when he came out. The installers ran wires all over my house (I will never go hardwired ever again). Their customer service IS THE WORST. I hope for your sake, you never have to go through this. Brinks has single handedly aged me 20 years due to this. GOOD LUCK!!!
