Bristol Real Properties listed a property on craigslist and then immediately went travelling, with only sporadic access to email and telephone, and their fax machine did not work. In general, they were extremely slow in responding; multiple days between attempts at communication were the norm.
Their rental agreement stated A) "Please be aware that the application is a commitment to rent the place pending screening" and B) "We should contact you in a day or two after we receive the application." which prevented me from applying to other places, thinking that if it fell through, I would know in one or two days.
Despite their having dropped the ball with respect to the fax machine, they refused to take my application via email.
It took five business days, not one or two as stated, for them to tell me that some other couple (who had been through the same charade) had had their application prioritized over mine. In the meantime, the other apartments in which I was interested became occupied. I feel as though they strung me along just in case the other couple had fallen through, not wanting to tell me that somebody was ahead of me in line, which would have caused me to shift my interest elsewhere.
In summary, Bristol Real Properties are unprofessional -- the word "deadbeats" comes to mind -- and I hope that you never have to do business with them. Perhaps I was lucky not to sign a lease with them, as I can't begin to imagine that they would respond to maintenance issues in a timely manner.
