I also took "advantage" of these two offers. I am from Napa, CA, and I saw an ad that said something like "Napa Mom takes advantage of 2 teeth whitening samples, and discovers that, if used together, the results are as good or better than professional whitening." She wanted to share this with other consumers during these "tough financial times." This was an online ad, and all over it it said things like "As seen on NBC, The Today show, and (about 5 other networks)."
I DID see on one of the ads (in the fine print) that the "Napa Mom" was fictional and the "endorsements" by the various TV stations and shows were not real. I probably should have stopped there! But, I thought, I'd just get the free gel and that would be it.
The Dazzle people had asked for my cell phone #. They called a few days later and said that I'd really need custom made trays to get any real benefit. I declined, and that was the end of that. I hope!
But, bright smile charged my card $79.00 2 weeks later. I will admit that I DID see a paper in the box they sent that said that I'd have 2 weeks to respond, and that if they didn't hear from me they'd enroll me in there program. I forgot about it--my bad. But still! I just got off the phone with a rep and he agreed to cancel my "account." I said that I hadn't received whatever it was they charged me the $79 for, and he responded that the charge was for the trial. I said that the trial was supposed to be free, except for the shipping. And he said "No, RISK free." He wanted me to get online and go to the site so that I could check for myself. I said that this whole offer was extremely misleading and unfair. I wanted to send back what I had to get my money back, but he said that it was too late--I'd missed the 14 day deadline.
I asked several times to speak with a manager. He put me on hold for a minute, and then came back and said that there were not any managers there at the moment, that he was a "senior" account rep and had full authority, and that the manager was just going to tell me the same thing. I asked to be called anyway and he FINALLY agreed to have someone call me. Also, he interrupted and talked over me so many times, that I finally asked if I could finish my sentence without him interrupting me. He was verging on hostile, so it was pretty ironic when he said "Thank you for calling Brite Smile and have a wonderful day."
I am so glad that I googled Brite Smile and found a full page of scam referrences!
Has anyone had any success getting their charges removed?
