I had applied on line for a loan of $ 5000.00 on a Friday Evening (Sept 2008) and had received a call on Monday morning from Brunswick Financial group asking me to obtain paystubs, driver license, bank statement, etc.. to be faxed to a Daniel Greene(He was the caller at Brunswick Financial, He stated that I was approved but needed to review the documents and would call me back later that day. I gathered the information and faxed to the number provided and shortly thereafter I received a contract from them stating all the information. I was also told at that time that I needed to wire them 860.00 as this would be collateral and service as my first 4 month of payments. I was instructed to go to the nearest walmart and complete this transaction, call them with the approval code and they would call me back. They called me back and said the funds would be in my account the next day. The next day came and no deposit. I called the company and had a hard time getting thru as they scan their calls. I finally got thru to the number I was calling with the same extension but it went to a different guy and he said that the independent investor said that this was a high risk loan and that I needed to give them another $ 860.00 I did as basically I had to because obviously I applied for this loan because I needed the money now and really didn't have an option, was told over and over again that they can not reassess my account again per policy and that I know will not owe any payments for the first 8 months. Guarantee that the money would be there the next day. The next day came and no deposit. I called that day all day long with no phone calls then at the end of the day I finally got thru and they said [snip] who was the person I wired the money to as well as the investor pulled out of the contract and wouldn't say why to them. I demanded my money back as fast as it was sent and he said per the contract they do refunds once a month on the 24th. I said I can not wait until then and he said he would see what he could do to speed this up and would call me back, A couple of days passed and no return call from him so I called to check the status and couldn't get a hold of him. I had to go out of town so while I was gone I had received a voice mail from them stating that the date would be the 24th and they are adding a $ 200.00 extra for the loss. I never received so I called back and the phone number that I always used picked up and said Good Bye and hung up. I tried the website that was active and running and it was cancelled as well. I am out 1800.00 and will never see this again. I checked the Better Business Bureau and they are now reporting lots and lots of fraud about them as well, previously not on there as I had checked it out before sending the money. I called the FTC and BBB. They took this information but really could not assist as they have so many frauds happening anymore. I also called the Canadian government as this [snip] received the wire transaction in Catalina Canada. They could not help either than give advise on how to avoid fraud and to close my bank accounts, etc. I already of course did this before calling. There are numerous web sites posted about same stories happening to them from the same company. This is so sad that they can get away with this and nobody can help, trace numbers, etc.. I would think with todays technology that FBI, etc could of somehow contacted them.
