I went to this bubble tea shop in Elias Mall and ordered a cup of red tea, this female China woman made the drink (no problem here), then she gave me the cup and I paid her, it was very obvious that the signboard says $1 per cup of red tea without pearls. 'Miss, 1 cup of red tea.' Those were my words (in chinese) when I ordered the drink. When I gave her $1, she suddenly said $1.30, I asked her why, she said she added pearls to the drink.
I said I don't want the pearls and looked up to check if I was wrong in seeing the board, I wasn't though. I skimmed through the menu at the top and saw, at the side, an optional list of extras you may want to add.The keyword being OPTIONAL. The woman then said to me in chinese, her eyes flashing ire, 'But you have to tell me that you don't want the pearls so I will know that you don't want the pearls.'
I was speechless, how can she say that, the menu clearly writes OPTIONAL, that means it's the consumer's choice whether or not to add extra things they want to put in their drink.
To make the whole situation even worse, the pearls she added were not even nice, they are very hard on the inside and soggy outside. I threw the pearls away after I finished my drink, which was very fast, about 2 minutes I will say, not because I drank fast but because ice consisted 2/3 of the whole cup, the drink was diluted and tasteless.
One thing I'm sure about that shop is that I will NEVER purchase another thing from them again, what a rip off!
