Bait and switch
KDL-46EX700 46" flat panel TV from the Buy.com website. The advertised price of $1, 099.00 with free shipping was about $200 cheaper than any other advertised price that I was able to find. The item was (still is...) listed as a marketplace seller offer from TigerDirect that stated "usually ships in 1-2 days". Well, I placed the order and waited 10 days without hearing a word from either Buy.com or TigerDirect - at which time I emailed TigerDirect. After allowing 2 more days to go by, TigerDirect finally emailed back saying "due to circumstances beyond our control, we cannot ship the product you ordered". Not the biggest problem I've ever had with a retailer... But, then the TigerDirect customer service department included an unsolicited offer to substitute a "comparable product". Ok, so now I'm angry - this looks exactly like a classic "bait and switch scam". I told them to cancel my order and make sure my credit card was not charged. I then emailed Buy.com to let them know that I didn't appreciate being exposed to that kind of scam from one of their marketplace sellers and that I expected them to correct this situation. In response, the Buy.com customer service department sent an email saying "we really have no control over (and...no responsibility for) the conduct of our marketplace sellers...and they included a $20 gift certificate for my trouble. I was more than a little offended to think that Buy.com was asking me to go away for $20 - and doing nothing to correct the problem - but I might have left it at that until I opened the Buy.com web page and discovered that the fraudulent advertisement for a Sony KDL-46EX700 flat panel TV for $1, 099 with free shipping. As of this writing (on November 13th) this misleading bait and switch ad remains on Buy.com.
So, because Buy.com obviously intends to do nothing to abate the bait and switch scheme being perpetrated on their website, as I promised I would, I will publish this bad service story far and wide...and I will never again patronize Buy.com or TigerDirect. I hope plenty of others will read this and make the same choice.

fraud in pricing online
Ordered Mintstudio Wireless Speaker system. Price shown on website was $122.37 + $10.10 S&H = $132.47 total.
This is the price shown online and in my cart. A receipt was sent via email.
It showed a higher price: $134.73 + $10.10 S&H = $144.83.
I went back to the website to check. It still showed $122.37 + 10.10 S&H. I contacted BUY.COM via online chat. The agent responded that "the website constantly updates". I responded that "this is the price on your website right now!"
He responded: "The prices may change without prior notice even when in the cart" !!!
So, basically, he is saying they can charge you any price, without telling you-- and you won't know about it unless you read your email receipt and notice the discrepancy, or notice the discrepancy on your credit card bill.
This is totally fraudulent.

Bait and Switch
I ordered a DVD player from Buy.com paying their price for a new unit. However, what I received was a refurbished unit. When I contacted their customer service, I was told that the item was out of stock and was offered the choice of either returning the unit for a full refund, or taking a $40 credit. They flatly refused to honor their price for a new unit. This is bait and switch at its worst to dump refurbished units on unsuspecting customers. While I am usually amenable to refurbished items, with the appropriate discounts, in this case the manufacturer slashed the warranty period on their refurbished units making them even less attractive.

Dropping packages off without signing for it.
Back in the day, I used to order a 10 pack of mindiscs. They took my order, but they delayed it for about over 5 days. When my order got to my door, it got dropped off at my house without me signing up for the package. I did not even get a tracking number or anything like other online merchants. I do not appreciate that, and they better shape up with with the shipping.

Customer Service
If you can avoid buying from this company, please consider doing so. They are one of a class of companies with no phone number and hence no way to talk to anyone in the event of a problem. Repeated emails from myself, in an attempt to correct a simple problem, were answered with form responses that never addressed the issue. While I will not go as far as to call Buy.com a crooked company, I will go as far as to say that if you do business with these 'nonpeople' you do so at your own risk.

Increased price $10 to $45 without warning
On buy.com I was purchasing an item at $10 shipped, it was in my cart and just as I was pushing the last button to confirm the order they changed the price to $45+ shipped. After I complained, they told me that their supply from one vendor at $10 had run out and another vendor offered it at a higher rate. The problem with this story is that this a preorder for software and nobody has stock. The item isn't even manufactured for another 10 days. Despite at least a dozen transactions of over $1000 in the last 10 years, I can't ever see myself trusting this site again.

Nothing, but problems
I purchased an external hard drive from buy.com a little over a year and ahalf ago, along with a two year extended replacement warranty (in this case a buy.com gift card. I am having trouble with the drive and initally contacted them on 12/18 about either replacing or reimbursing me under the terms of the warranty. They indicated that they would be sending the labels to return the product within 3 buisness days. Two follow-uop phone calls and an e-mail later, I was told that the labels were processed on 1/2/09 and it would take up to 5 business days for them to reach me, and I have no doubt that it will take weeks before they send the gift card to me. They claim they have world class customer service. World class customer incompetence is more like it!

Avoid them
Oct 27, 2008 I purchased 2 USB Flash Drives that listed FREE SHIPPING. I was notified On the 28th BOTH Items shipped. The cheaper USB Flash Drive was received in just a few days. After 10 days I still have not received the SanDisk Flash Drive. I live in the exact center of the USA, and can mail a item USPS to anywhere USA and it will get there in 2-3 days! I could have mailed the USB stick in a padded envelope and paid the postage for less than 1 dollar! I have tried to contact Buy.Con only to get the standard generated E-mails back.
NOTICE: Buy.com does NOT have a phone # to call!
Recommendation: NEVER Pay with PayPal as it is impossible to get a quick response from them either! If you pay with credit card, at least you can stop the payment!

I bought 2 memory modules, that were suppose to work in my computer. I recieved them and installed them into my computer. My computer would not turn on. I emailed Buy.com and they sent me an email saying that I had to deal with the manufacturer directly. I contacted the memory manufacturer directly and their technical support could not get the memory to work. They told me to return the items to Buy.com. Buy.com will not take them back under any circumstances because they state that the item was under their special return policy. I was somehow suppose to know that this was one of the items under their special return policy.
The manufacturer is not happy that Buy.com will not take back the memory, they simply will not work in my laptop and the manufacturer has updated their configuration finder to state so. So I cannot exchange them for new memory, because they will not work in my laptop. I cannot get a refund from them because I did not buy it directly from them. I had no problems with the manufacturer and suggest that you buy directly from them (www.addoncomputer.com).

RETURN POLICY
This is the problem I am having with BUY.COM after years of great service - BUYER BEWARE OF RETURN POLICY FOR THIS COMPANY - They treat you like a common criminal if you dont keep original box------------------------------------- I AM APPALLED AT YOUR RETURN POLICY!!! - I PURCHASED THIS RADIO AND IT WORKED FINE THEN SUDDENLY STOPPED WORKING - CONTACTED THE MANUFACTURER; THEY SAID IT WAS DEFECTIVE AND TO SEND IT BACK TO WHERE I PURCHASED IT. I AM TOLD THAT YOU CANNOT RETURN WITHOUT THE ORIGINAL BOX (WHICH I GOT RID OF AFTER A FEW DAYS BECAUSE RADIO WAS WORKING) WHY ISNT THIS INFORMATION GIVEN TO YOU BEFORE YOU TRY AND RETURN IT!?!!
