Beware of this company Bank of America uses for collections! I had a bill that I did legally owe to Bank of America. I was making payments, but apparently not fast enough. The original bill was for $300. I received a letter from CACH LLC stating that I owed over $1900!! When I called to inquire about the amount within the 30 day allowed period, they transferred the amount to a lawyer and added another $1500. I ended up settling with the Law Offices of Alan Laskin for about $1700 two months ago (legal office was very helpful and extremely fair).
CACH has still not taken this amount off my credit report. I called today to inquire and was told they didn't have any record from the Law Office of Alan Laskin that I had paid off the amount. I called the law office back and guess what, they informed CACH a month ago and are sending me documentation to prove it.
I called CACH back and they started with the same lies they did in the first call, that they hadn't received any documentation yet. When I informed them that I was receiving a copy of the documentation from the law office, they all of a sudden found that my account was paid and closed!
The receptionist is rude and is using illegal practices, just because she doesn't feel like doing her job. I'm sure in the state of the current economy, someone would love to take her place.
It's too bad we don't really have any rights with collection companies. They could send me a fake letter right now saying I owe $1000 and put it on my credit report and there isn't a darn thing I could do about it.
