File better business bureau complaint
I'd strongly suggest that the 57 others who have registered a complaint here also file a formal online complaint with the NYC BBB. Easy to do: takes all of ten minutes. This can be done at:

Dishonest selling practices
These guys are dishonest and weaselly. I found a "new" Canon camcorder (the FS-100) for about sixty bucks cheaper than elsewhere. I bought. On an impulse, I called to be certain that it was truly new. The sales rep confirmed that it was, then asked if I wanted to purchase a battery. I know from the Canon site that the FS-100 comes with a rechargeable battery pack. Sales rep said a) the camera I purchased from them does not come with a battery, b) the FS-100 does not ever come with a battery, and c) that it is "standard" for all new camcorders to be sold without a battery.

A quick call to Canon showed him to be flat out lying about points b) and c). The angle is to sell for $60 cheaper while withholding part of the package and then making it up by selling that part separately for that amount. And then to purposefully deceive those who call them on the dishonest practice.

I canceled the order and bought from a reputable dealer. (That dealer, by the way, confirmed that my camcorder comes with the battery, scoffed at the Camera Addict claim that camcorders generally don't, and seemed very familiar with C.A.'s disreputable trade practices.)

A bunch of crooks
Same old story. They advertised the camcorder for a great price. I placed the order online. A day later an email - please call to confirm. When I called, the guy tried to sell me a bunch of accessories. When I refused to buy them, he mentioned that the camera is a "Japanese" model, with all menus in Japanese, and hoped that was ok with me. I said it wasn't ok, and he informed me that he would be happy to sell me the "American" model, for $50 extra.

I insisted that there was no mention of any of this on the website, and he denied. I then said I am not interested in the camera, and he was glad to cancel the order and get rid of me. I have a feeling they only want customers that spend a lot of money on their accessories. If you don't buy those, they play the "Japanese" model trick to get rid of you.

Avoid doing any business with these crooks!

Identity theft
I placed an order with these scammers. I gave them my credit card info the same as i have for numerous other businesses that i have bought products from with no problems. 2 days after i place this order i get a call from them asking me to send them a faxed copy of the front and back of my credit card! PLUS they wanted me to send them a photo I.D. That corresponded with my credit card!! They had already run a inquiry on my card and found that it was good for the amount being ordered. I checked this with my credit card company and they confirmed that this had already been done by cameraaddict.com. So when they asked this info to be faxed to them, i asked them if they were into identity theft? Even my major credit card company said this is not proper conduct and that this needed reporting, which they also did. Once they put your credit card info through and receive an authorization from the credit card company thats as good as money in the bank to them. So why ask for photo I.D. to be sent along with copies of credit cards... can you say identity theft? Stay away from these crooks!

Scam
CameraAddict.com needs to be shut down immediately.

I ordered a big screen TV from them, for what I thought was a great price. The next day, I received an email to call to confirm the order. I called the company, and after a long time on hold, a very rude man came on the line. I could barely understand him, as he was eating and talking to other people. He tried to sell me a $199 remote control for my TV, a $199 HDMI cable, and a $499 warranty. After I kept saying no, I got the feeling this was a scam. He said I had to have their "special 1.8 HDMI cable" for $199, and that I must not be familiar with this TV. It also didn't come with a remote, and I needed their "special" remote, also for $199. After I repeatedly said no to all these things, that I just want the TV, he mocked me, then quoted the final charge to my credit card, which was $200 more than I agreed to. I already knew I was going to cancel from this total scam operation, but I asked him anyway what the extra $200 was for. First he tried to imply that was the charge I had agreed to. Then he said it was for "handling".

I just told him to cancel my order. This is where it got interesting. He mocked me. Then he said to wait a minute. He blew a horn in the phone three times. Then he rudely asked me if I knew what that sound was. I hung up.

About ten minutes later, I received an email saying my order had been cancelled. Thankfully, it doesn't look like my credit card was charged.

I feel bad for the people who don't know any better about their outright lies about the "extras", or who can't stick up for themselves to this kind of telephone bullying.

They need to be shut down.

Fraud and scams!
I ordered a kodak easyshare z812 camera. I was e-mailed, i needed to call and confirm information on credit card. When I did The man said my camera memory card would only hold 65 pictures, and the battery would only last 2 hours. So if I had there catalog they had a package deal. Only cost $4.more than if I got memory card and better battery. Well camera was $170.00 but package was $169.00.I called my credit card company and filed charge of fraud on camera company. Cameraaddict said order went in same day I called and nothing I could due. Just wait till package came. So long and short of this use your credit card and call them all the same day. They will cancel payment and I will fill out fraud charge. Was glad I looked on this web site.

fraudulent sales tactics
I tried to buy a Pentax K20D. When I called to "confirm" my order, the salesman tried to sell me several accessories. When I refused the accessories, they tried to change my mind using many aggressive tricks. Several tactics included: putting me on hold so that I could think about "whether or not [I] had done enough research about the camera;" telling me if i didn't get the 3 year US Warranty I was going to be sent a version of the camera with Japanese firmware, and I wouldn't be able to use it; telling me that items Pentax Imaging claims are packaged with the camera body, are not in the box... though, they "will be once you buy them;" claiming that their many stipulations (like the non working, Japanese versions of their products) are clearly stated on the website, but refusing to point me to the exact page that states "Japanese cameras will be sold to anyone who doesn't buy a US Warranty, " or to the part of the website that lists the exact items that are in (or are not in) the factory sealed Pentax box.

I called Pentax about this, and they claim that no K20D camera body would be packaged without the minimum accessories - battery, charger, SD card.

Once I canceled the order the sales guy refused to give me a cancellation number, something the cameraaddict.com website claimed I needed. I called back several times before I received the number, and I was reminded how lucky I was to remember to get the number or else I would have been "charged a restocking fee" when I shipped it back. According to the web site, that would have been around $50 not including the shipping.

Cameraaddict.com should be shut down. They are fraudulent, and abusive.

Frauds on Internet
DONT BUY ANYTHING FROM THESE GUYS. I placed with www.Cameraddict.com for Canon Powershot A650-IS camera. Price was 254$(and as of the day of this complaint being logged, its still 254$ on their website. After 3 days of me having paid for it, they called me at work and tried to sell me several other accessories, which I did not buy. Then the person said, we cannot send you this product for 254$ and you need to pay 359$. I asked if this was a price issue where the price was accidentally put incorrectly on website (which can be just a clerical error and can be understood). He mentioned "no thats not the issue (and I know its not as the price is still showing 254$ on their website) He went on to tell me, we can ship you the product without any warranty(I suspect old or refurbished), however if you need warranty you pay 359$". - "your order will be cancelled. You are not getting the camera for 254$" and hung up. Since then I have tried several times to approach them, but they do not return my emails, dont pickup the phone. Its been 5 days since I paid, I dont have a camera when I am leaving for vacation. I am not afraid of getting my money back, which is easy since I bought it on credit card. However I am concerned that this organization will continue to fraud numerous unsuspecting buyers with these seedy practices. Companies like these given Internet Shopping a bad name. Bait and switch. Salesperson who called seemed was uneducated, rude. DONT BUY ANYTHING FROM THESE GUYS

bait and switch
Bait and switch. Ordered a canon s3 powershot camera. It was about $20-$30 cheaper than the going price. Got an email telling me to call and confirm the order. This put me on guard because very few online stores I deal with need further correspondence. I called in and the salesman starts trying to sell me accessories. I told him three times I didn't want anything but what I ordered. He got rude with me and I canceled the order. I called their customer service dept and complained as well. The order was canceled quickly however.

Fraud Misrepresentation
Ordered camera via web site. Days after ordering I was notified that camera that I was ordering didn't come with a battery nor battery charger. When asked why no charger the sales rep indicated that the battery charged internally and took in excess of 12 hrs. That these were separate costs. Sales person indicated that he would send a 2nd battery curtosy of co. That no battery was shipped normally with camera. When item arrived noticed that tye charger and battery were identical to that as packaged at local store with no extra charge. When I finally got throught to Camera addicts customer service I was told that the sales person apparently forhot to tell me that this particulr camera was marked for over seas sales and as such didn't include these items normally packaged with camera sold in the good old USofA. I returned camera. These guys are scam artists. BUYER BE WARE
