faulty installation
In april past I bought 2 windshield wipers and june 3rd one of them fell off as I was driving down the highway on Vancouver Island. I had to pull over in the rain and take it off and drive in the rain to Canadian Tire in Duncan. One of the managers of the automotive dept. inasmuch told me if I didn't have a receipt I was out of luck, she gave me an 800 number and they they had the same attitude.
I then called North Vancouver where I bought them and again got blown off. It's raining today and I have dr's appointments and it's very difficult to drive even to go somewhere to buy a new one.
I am 63 years old and am not trying to scam anyone, I just want what I paid for. Shame on Canadian Tire for making me feel like a thief, it definetely will change my mind about shopping there ever again.

Very rude customer service
Found the Canadian Tire customer service very very rude.I bought a faucet for my kitchen sink, but it was too big and i decided to return it. since i was working I was not able to return it before 5 days that I pursued it. After common customer service questions, the customer service rep opened the package to make sure everything is in package. Then she took the faucet out of package and banged it so hard on the table. By doing this few water drops came out, she got so mad and accused me of not being honest. She was going on and on about it that how home i am not telling the truth! I explained it politely and tried not to interfere with what she was doing. She kept checking the manual and readind it for few minutes. I was standing and waiting for my money to be returned with my receipt in my hand. After a few minutes she started again, by telling me that she has to check it again since company might not take it back and... so on. I said, i never seen such a customer service, people returning the broken stuff! She said, it's because u used it!!! And she called somebody else to come and finish the return (she just could not handle it with nooo reason) a gentleman came, and I asked for manager. He claimed to be a manager, however, he did not have any name tag or title!!! I explained the situation. He said that he will talk to lady(still no apology yet). At this time phone rang, the gentleman went to picked up the phone (while there was another lady in customer service who could have done it). He gave me my money back while still on the phone and I left. That's how you will be treated in Canadian Tire in the following address:
11388 STEVESTON HWY
SOUTH RICHMOND, BC
V7A 5J5
Phone: 604-271-6651
You don't believe me go and see!!!

Dishonest and rude
The following letter contains events that happened at the Canadian Tire south, located at 2510-50 ave. Red Deer, Alberta.
On April 26, 2008, I brought my PT Cruiser in to this location to take advantage of the “deal” at Canadian Tire where I purchase tires and receive a free wheel alignment. I received the tires. Terry Hogan put them on and also made the deal with me. First, I was lead to believe these tires were priced at 89.00 each- I paid 97.86 each. I also paid for the labor and other things until the bill came to 518.97. I didn’t expect that but I paid it. I was then told that I would have to bring my car back for the wheel alignment. Three days later I’m still trying to get it into the shop (after traveling 2 different days into Red Deer from Bentley, hoping they would fit me in somewhere). I tell “ Dan”(the name he gave me- @ 22 years old, very rude) that I put a lot of miles on my vehicle and would like the “free” wheel alignment done. He finally told me to bring it in at 3 pm. I did so and met “Dan”. He told me my alignment would take 2 hours (Terry told me ½ hour). I told “Dan” that “my” mechanic said it would take only ½ hour. “Dan” was not friendly. Fine- I needed my car done. He told me to pick it up at 5pm. I left him my cell # so “Dan” could reach me if there was any problems, etc. At 4:52 pm. He calls me and says that the Tie rods and the bushings need replacing (843.53$). I was just steps from the door of the store and went in and asked “Dan” how he figured that. “Dan” got feisty again. I ended up leaving without a wheel alignment, very embarrassed because of his tone (a couple of children were standing there) and he also told me I couldn’t have a wheel alignment until I got this work done. My car had just come from the shop and my mechanic told me that all I needed was new tires and an alignment. I had shopped around and found that Canadian Tire seemed to have the best deal and also I thought they would treat me well (there seems to be a problem when a woman goes to certain mechanics). I brought my car to my mechanic, again, he put it up on the hoist, again and said there’s nothing wrong- again. After missing days of work (because my vehicle is my job), no wheel alignment and spending way more money than I could afford---I am now writing to you. I usually don’t complain and I don’t know if you can do anything about this but I thought it was something you would want to know. My husband nor I will not shop there again.
Thank you for your time.

After changing the oil mechanic forgot to tight the engine oil drain bolt
I recently went to Canadian tire Keel/St. Clair or my Honda Accord 2000, for Oil Change. Job was done and i was called that my Car is ready. This work was done on May 22, 2008 @ 14:29hrs, My invoice no 394619. On May 23, 2008 I noticed that my car is leaking oil, I was surprised that how come suddenly my car is leaking oil so much. It used to be clean and not a single drop under my car, My car has only 124792 km, I put my car on jack and went down an found that you Canadian Tire brilliant and extraordinary mechanic, forgot to tight the engine oil drain bolt. This is such a irresponsible and poor work which could cost me thousand of dollar. If I lose the bolt on the highway.

Overcharged and very poor service
I took my 2004 civic in to get them to replace the wheel stud a $2.97 part and was quoted 1/2 hour which should come to about $50.00 when i returned to canadian tire an hour later they said it took 2 hours and charged me $200.00. I phoned the manager and he said them are the rates and there is nothing he could do about it and then hung up. I phone about 15 other shops and most of them said $30.00 max highest was $50.00.
This is absolutely ridiculous. I hope everyone stops going to canadian tire.

Replacement key!
After purchasing a Yardworks lawn tractor I was unable to have a spare ignition key cut for the product. The tractor was bought at this location yet they were unable to cut me a spare key or tell me how to obtain one.

Return policy
I have made my last trip to Canadian Tire. A few weeks ago I purchased several items from a local CT. I made it as far as the parking lot when I realized that one of the items was packaged incorrectly -- the contents of the box were not what they should have been. So I went to the return desk. The woman working the desk was the same cashier who had sold me the product not five minutes earlier, and she remembered me. I had the original receipt, the original CT money, even the original bag (not to mention the debit card I had just used to buy the item), but they insisted they needed photo ID to do a return. Nobody, including the idiot "manager" who was called, knew why they collect the information, what they do with it, or how long they keep it. Ultimately I was able to return the item without showing my driver's licence.
Yesterday, however, I had purchased an item from a different location and went back to exchange it for a higher priced item. Once again, I was at the same store where I purchased the item, I had the original receipt, original CT money, the debit card used to purchase it, even the original bag, but they insisted on ID. The manager came and gave me what seems to be (from reading this site) the standard nonsense about "fraud, " telling me they keep the information for 2 years and use to it see if anyone is making "too many" returns.
Following a huge fight they ultimately refused to do the exchange without photo ID. Not wanting to give them any more of my money than I already had, I relented and provided ID, but I won't be back.
And all this for an item costing less than $10.

Lied about dead car battery
I made the mistake of purchasing a car battery from Canadian Tire, foolishly believing that they would honour their 3-year replacement warranty. After 18 months the battery would not hold its charge, so I took it into the store to get my free replacement. The fellow at the counter looked at me and condescendingly told me that it was empty and needed to be charged before testing. I told him that of course it was empty; it wasn't holding its charge. That was why I brought it back. After about a half hour of charging he informed me that the battery was perfectly good and that I should have the alternator and voltage regulator checked. Three days later the battery would not charge at all, even with my battery charger. I had to call a tow truck to jump start my car, and I elected to take it to the dealer for service, as it was time for its oil change anyway. The dealer performed an AVR test and told me that the battery was dead and that it should have been fairly obvious from the voltage spikes during charging -- meaning that the Canadian Tire guy had lied to my face. The alternator was perfectly good. I had the dealer replace my battery. Between the AVR test, new battery and tow truck I was out over $200. I angrily went back to Canadian Tire and showed the manager the invoice from the dealer, and that I had brought the battery in for testing, and was told that my dead battery was still good. I felt that at the very least I should get a refund on the original purchase price of the battery. All he would do was give me a replacement battery -- which I no longer needed.
The moral of the story: do not buy a Canadian Tire car battery. Their warranty is not worth the paper it's written on.

Refuse to returen electric bike after 2 days
I bought an electric bike at Canadian tire and was totally unhappy so I went to return the product after two days.
They refused, first the girl that works at the counter looked at a book and said that this is non returnable - when I asked her why it's not on my receipt or why I wan not informed before buying it she said "our return policy is none of the customer business"
I spoke to the manager and got a negative answer.
The next day I spoke with the owner who called me a layer and that her employee told me its non returnable.
This product is available to purchase on line with no note what so ever about no return so what if I would buy it on line what excuse they use then?
Also the owner said that on the receipt there is a condition "some restrictions apply" - well that mean that they can get out of any warranty or return for any product.
Beware of this shit tire and DONT ever buy from them.
I'm going to court with this guys and a picture I took from the store saying "we stand behind what we sell & easy returns save your receipt"
This is the worst service I found in Canada and suite 3rd world countries and not the 2nd large chain here.

Terrible customer service!
Just a reminder to everyone... PLEASE try to be civil and respect the employees in customer service at Canadian Tire, or for that matter, anywhere. They ALWAYS have some way to help you, it all depends on your attitude and how you speak to them. The managers will back up whatever the employees say about the issue. If you're rude to them, don't expect them to take it and not be rude back. It's human nature. And just because an item broke, or you didn't like it, don't blame it on the employee. Chances are pretty good that he/she DID NOT make it, and is not responsible for you breaking it, or it being defective. He/she DID NOT make the "rules of return" and is just told to follow them. Most people working in those stores are just working there as a part time job, trying to get through school with a little money to pay for schooling fees or have a little extra cash in there pocket. They DO NOT care if you morally disagree with there policies or think it's their fault. If you disagree with something then POLITELY say you don't agree and chances are they'll say they're sorry, they don't make the rules and they have to follow them. If you're still just so upset at the injustice of a couple cents, that weren't yours to begin with, or you think you should get something brand new for free if you bring in your disgusting, overused product, then contact the head of Canadian Tire. And leave the employee out of it. If the employee was rude to you, then please before you get all huffy and demand to speak with a manager look at your own attitude and how you're treating them. Besides, the manager and employee will probably laugh at you when you leave anyways!
I hope this post has helped some people with basic common courtesy when dealing with employees who have a choice to the extent they decide to help a customer! Have a great day everyone!!
