On Feb 14, 2010 I got a very sour experience at the Auto Service Centre, Canadian Tire #611. My van required brakes replacement and service. The told me that they will perform the diagnostic first which cost $30.00. If I opt for the work and their estimate they will not charge me the diagnostic fee. I told them that my car needs fresh nitrogen for the tires (orginal nitrogen was also filled by Canadian Tire, some other location). They told me that because my car repair needs heavy bill, they will oblige me not to charge for the labour for the nitrogen filling.
After 3-1/2 hours, my car was fixed, they prepared the invoice, when I reviewed the invoice, there was charge for the labor to nitrogen fill, they said "The other guy prepared the invoice", so they prepared another invoice. I asked few questions about the work they did on my car on brakes etc, like "did someone test the car for road". They affirmed. When I drove, I notices that my brakes are very weak as compared to old brakes. At home I again checked the invoice and found that they have charged me for "diagnostics". I went back to store and told that the brakes are weaker than before, and invoice is wrong. The again said "The other guy prepared the invoice, he should have not charged for diagnostics". They again prepared another invoice, and refunded diagnostic charges.
I am worried that both the guys on customer service knew what we discussed before hand and what was agreed, and the quality of work (having news parts and service to brakes), is not to the standard it was before. They insisted that after 50 km the brakes would be fine, but they never told me what will happen if some thing goes wrong before 50 km due to weak brakes.
I am not sure, how I can label this complaint, incompetency, carelessness or malpractice. But it is in addition to my previous experiences for the same complaints. Thinking I should permanently say "Goodbye" to Canadian Tire.
