No customer service
I decided, after making one car payment via automated voice prompts over the phone which lost a transaction to try something different. I set my Capital One Auto Finance account up on my Capital One Bank account to where I could make car payments online to save time and money (so I thought). After making two payments to Capital One on consecutive days (Dec. 20, 2007 and Dec. 21, 2007) I thought my problem was solved. The Capital One bank account showed that the two payments came out of my checking account but they never showed up on my automobile finance account.
All of a sudden, about a month ago, Capital One started calling me saying that I had not made my November payment. When I told the person at Capital On Auto Finance that I had not only paid November but December as well. They asked me if I had any proof of that to which I said yes, I have my bank statement showing that two payments came out of my bank account and went to Capital One. They gave me the fax number and I faxed a copy of the bank statement to them expecting this to take care of it.
Not only did they NOT call me back, but when I called them to see if they had received the fax and taken care of my account the woman told me that what I sent was not good enough. She said that I needed the bank to send a copy of an endorsement or a pipeline report. So I took off early and drove from Oklahoma where I am currently working to Capital One bank in Keller, Texas, got with the operations manager of the bank and she wrote them a letter with dates, transaction numbers, a copy of my bank statement and other pieces of information that should have been sufficient to resolve this problem, but it hasn't.
As of this writing, I have talked to dozens of people at Capital One Auto Finance, including managers, without resolve. Meanwhile, late charges are accruing, my credit rating is declining, my aggravation level is increasing and nobody has stepped up to the plate to try and help me.
I have never had so much trouble giving my money to somebody in my life. I'm wondering if every month with Capital One Auto Finance is going to be a Nightmare with them like this one has been.

Harrassment
My car was totalled on August 21, 2009 by someone who ran a red light. I amazingly was not badly injured because I was hit on the driver's side. I had been paying on time every month including the month of August to Capital One like agreed. I had the car since November 2008. When I purchased the car, I also purchased GAP insurance and of course I had full coverage. My insurance paid everything to Capital One less $1900 which
GAP would be paying the balance.
I have been harrassed at home, at work, my cell phone everyday including Sunday demanding I pay them the balance. It has not been even a month since the accident. It was very scary and something I still have nightmares. They have received the insurance check and know GAP is paying within the next week, yet they are making my life a living hell. They have made me feel like I was the one who caused the accident! Is there anything I can do to stop this kind of treatment?

REPO MAN DISCLOSES MY FINANCE INFORMATION TO THIRD PARTY
CAPITAL ONE WITHOUT SENDING ANY NOTICE OF DEFAULT SENT A REPO MAN TO GET MY VEHICLE. ON THERE SECOND ATTEMPT TO REPO THE VEHICLE, THEY BANGED ON MY FRONT DOOR AT ONE IN THE MORNING AND THEN THEY PROCEEDED TO DISCLOSE DETAILED INFORMATION ABOUT MY PAYMENT HISTORY AND TOLD THEM THAT I WAS A LIAR. AND I DON'T THINK THEY HAD A RIGHT TO DISCLOSE THAT TYPE OF INFORMATION. IF ANYONE KNOWS WHAT IF ANY CLAIMS I MAY HAVE AGAINST THEM. THEY HAVE CALLED CLAIMING TO BE A REAL ESTATE AGENT THE NEXT DAY I RECEIVE REGULAR PAYMENT DUE NOTICE WITH REMITTANCE STUB, NO MENTION OF ANY DEFAULT OR REQUIREMENT TO CURE A DEFAULT.

unauthorized credit checks
I did an annual free credit report and found 3 inquiries from Capital One Auto Finance listed on my credit report in the past year. I did not apply for any type of loan from Capital One. I called the 800 number I found online and was told that unless I gave them my social security number they could not help me. I refused to give them my social security number and asked to speak to a supervisor. I was then transferred to a voice mail. I left a message but still have not received any call back.
I just want to warn others that this company seems unscrupulous in it's policies. I did have a Capital One credit card about 10-12 years ago and they charged me a late fees which then placed my account over limit thereby adding ridiculously high overlimit fees. I paid them off and shredded the card.
My advice is to anyone reading this, Do not deal with Capital One for any type of loan or credit card and be sure to check your credit records regularly.

title to car
My name is Yvonne Taylor-Rice, my address is 2423 larose ave memphis, tn telephone # is 901-744-2133. I have made several attempts to contact Capital One Auto Finance in regards to the title to my car. In 2/23/2005, I was unter chapter 13. I have my paper work from the courts were Capital One Auto Finance requested $4, 923.45 as the amount that I owe them on my car. This amount was paid to them in full. No additional amount was filed by them. I have to this date never received any other billing from Capital One Auto Finance. Paid in full means paid in full. If I owed any additional money why was it not filed? I have documentation on all of the above information.
In addition to the problem of being unable to get my title for my car. They have made my credit rating not in good standing, therefore I am unable to purchase a new car. I had to repair my car several times, spending money that I could have used to put down on a new car. I need some type of resolution to this problem. I also have a cell phone where I can reach, it is 901-497-8077. All I am trying to do is purchase a new car under this old car law which ends by the end of September. I need my title and my account cleared on my credit report.

auto loan paid off?
We had a 66 month contract with Capital One Auto Finance which began with the first payment due on 11/1/2003. Somewhere along the way (hurricanes and evacuations/no power or phones) the contract was extended to 68 months. On June 1, 2009 I knew that my balance was $1138.47 plus $643.76 for the late charges that we had accumulated over the course of the loan. I had been paying my $559.99 payment to them on line or through my bank since 2005. On 6/19/09 I went on line and Capital One was stating that my payment of $559.99 was due on 6/1/09. I paid the $559.99. After this payment had cleared my bank account I went back on line and Capital One is now stating that on 6/1/09 another payment of $559.99 was due and now the total due on the account is $589.76. This amount did NOT include the late charges. I called Capital One Auto Finance and was told that my contract had expired on 6/1/09 and that I was required to pay the entire $1138.47 and I had only paid $548.71 toward that amount ($11.27 had been applied to interest). I asked this agent that if we indeed did owe them $1138.47 on 6/1/09 why, when I went on line to pay our June payment did it not state that my 6/1/09 payment due was $1138.47 instead of the $559.99 that the on line account wanted for payment. I was told that my payment was applied to interest first and then to principal. I then asked why I still owed money on a loan when I had made all of my 66 payments. I was told that the additional $589.76 that I still owed was interest accrued (on a daily basis) over the course of the loan because I didn't always pay my payment on the day it was due. I agreed to pay them the $589.76 on 7/20/09 and on 8/20/09 I would pay the $643.76 in late charges. I received two sets of transaction history reports, both of them showing that my loan balance due was $589.76. On 7/20/09 I paid the loan balance due of $589.76 on line. On 7/25/09 I went back to Capital One's web site and my balance due is still $589.76 but my payment history shows that my payment of $589.76 was received on 7/20/09. I sent them a message on their web site asking why, if I paid the $589.76 on 7/20/09, was my balance owed still $589.76. Their reply on 7/26/09 was that they took my $589.76 and applied it to my late charges. I still owe them the balance of 589.76, interest on the 589.76 of 9.45 plus $54.00 in late charges.
They took my loan balance due payment and applied it to late charges because that way they could still charge me interest on the balance due. They can NOT charge interest on the late charges but they can on the balance due. Their payoff figure is only good until 8/5/09 whereupon they can, on 8/6/09 start charging me more interest on the loan balance due figure of $589.76.
Can I legally get them to reverse where they applied my 589.76 so that they can NOT charge me interest?

Calling Me on My Job!!!!!
On July 28, 2009 a agent from Capital One Auto Finance called me on my job. The last time I checked it was against the law for a company to call someone on there job about a late payment.

Hold lien of paid off vehicles too long
I have paid my Capital One Auto Loan in full, having never missed a payment in nearly 4 years, and sold the vehicle. Now, they say they cannot release the Lien on the vehicle as I used "unsecured funds" to pay off the loan. I paid the loan at their web site, using their system to draw the funds electronically from my account. The money is gone, and I have an impatient person who purchased the car and would like a clear title. I have been told it could take up to 30 days. And talking to them on the phone is horrible, as nobody speaks English, or just came out of 3RD grade. I keep getting the old run-around. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY, I promise you, you will regret it.

Trying to negotiate a Payoff
I finance my car with Capital One Auto finance 3 years ago. My monthly payments are $432.00 and I currently have a balance on the loan of $7200.00. I lost my job a while ago and my unemployment has run out. I sent Capital One a buy out offer of $4500.00 thinking that they would counter offer about $5500.00. The car is 8 years old and the kelly blue book value in good condition is $5200.00. They never responded my offer so I called them to inquire the status of my offer. I was told that I would have to pay $6900.00. I asked how did they come up with that figure and they stated from the kelly blue book which was not true. I explained that if I owe $7200.00 and I paid this months car payment of $432.00 the amount owed would be less than $6900.00. They stated no it would not because the interest is accruing daily on the principle. I explained that I had no further income and was borrowing money from a freind and the most I could come up with is $5500.00 which is more than the kelly blue book. They stated that was their final offer. I asked if I could get the offer in writing and was told because I filed bankruptcy last year they could not send me a letter stating the payoff amount. I was very upset because they was not willing to work with me nor was the willing to put thier offer in writing.
I will tell every person I encounter not to finance threw Capital One, with the economy being what it is today you would think they would be willing to work with someone who pay thier monthly payment on time and has fallen on heard times.

Relentless Call Center on day of husbands funeral
While my husband lay dying, Capital One took 2 payments rather than 1 out of my account and would not return it... they caused my account to be 600.00 over drawn!!!
And the day of the funeral they hounded me for money after I said he was DEAD and it was the day of the funeral... I would talk to them the next day... NO they just kept hounding me in front of my family. I finally hung up on them. They are relentless on their calling and I have had a loan with them for almost 5 years!!!
Do not ever do a payment over the phone.. they will get it wrong
And after making arrangements, I had a funeral back in the state we are from originally and they did it that day as well!!! in front of relatives again... I was appalled at thier treatment of a customer they are making thousands of dollars off of at a time like that
