auto loan scam
I took out a loan on a new 2007 Ford Focus and borrowed around $15, 000. Never late on a payment and the rate was reasonable. After a year I decided it was time to reduce my debt load and tried to pay off the loan. Tried being the operative word here. Called Capital One for the payoff and was told on 3 separate occaisons the payoff was $11.723.90. Went to my bank, sent Capital One a cashiers check for $11, 723.90 which was processed on 2/23/09 one day BEFORE the date Capital One said the payoff amount was good through. But NOOOOO! Now there is a mystery $50.52 in "additional principal" due. I had to use Western Union for an additional $13.95 to send in the additional $50.52 to "satisfy" the already paid off loan. The buyer of the vehicle is waiting for his lien release having paid cash for the vehicle. Capital One says it will take them another 72 hours to produce a lien release, even though they KNOW the loan has been satisfied.
Take it from someone who KNOWS. Captial One's auto finance rates look attractive to you. Think again. I will NEVER borrow from Capital One again. Ever. Whats in YOUR wallet? It ain't in mine.

Terrible experience
I hope I read all these reports before I applied or Capital One Auto Loan...
Here's the Story...
3 weeks ago I traded in my rare car for a newer car... long story short, I had a preapproved loan with the amount on the blank check provided. After 1 1/2 weeks Porsche dealer called me that the check from Capital One had bounced. I have the preapproval document and check. I called capital one and told me that they need my income docs, so I said ok, i faxed it to them, then a week later all of a sudden they cant do a loan for me, and refuses to say why. I have a good credit score and high income.
So now, the car that I traded is sold, I'm stuck with a car that the trade in value is $10, 000 less than what I owe plus taxes, the good thing is the dealer is on my side, and wanted to call Capital One and they said they will have them buy the car for giving me a bogus approval or else, Porsche vs. Capital One.
I hope they get what they deserve, after reading all the comments here, I called my attorney as well, we are giving them until Friday to make it right, after that. all hell breaks loose. suckers!

Money stealing company
This company needs to go out of business!! We hit a deer with or vehicle that is financed through them. Our insurance company made the check out to them and us. Their policy of course. They will not endorse the check and send it back so we can fix it anywhere we want. Their customer service is horrible they do not want to listen or help their customers what so ever. They just want to steal our money. I also did complain to the BBB and others should too!! They are rip off artists and do not care about any thing.

They call me several times a day
It's either Capital One Auto or Chase Auto. Out of about 100 calls one person told me and I'm not to sure which they said.
They call me several times a day, treat me with no respect. Don't answer my questions. They ask for someone I've never heard of before. They say they will remove me, it's been 2 months. A minimum of 4 calls a day. I ask for there supervisor and they don't connect me, they DISCONNECT me. I went along with them once just to find out who they are, cause they don't give any information. I am tired of being lied to, I am tired of hearing my phone ring at all hours of the day. I am tired of getting wakeup calls at 8am on a Sunday when it's my only day off! Sunday is a holy day and it should not be used for these *** people to call. Why don't they do there research to find out who they are calling and be polite rather then get angry. I am reporting them to the BBB and will file for harassment very soon. I would love to file a class-action lawsuit against them just for not having there facts straight.

Refusing to goto arbitration!
Capital One Auto Finance stated 12/07/2007 via UPS they will refuse any arbitration of any kind this is a direct violation of the FAA act of 1921 I filed arbitration claims against them 4 times 3 times with the National Arbitration Forum file# MX0711002018527 The reasons are the following
1). I have been mailing my Car Payments Certified Return Receipt and they are claiming this is in Debt Collections I have made over 2 years of Car Payments 205.35 at 19.99 percent even though my credit score the past three years is over 650 meaning the rate should have been 10.178 percent
2). I bought the car through Tacoma Auto center and they had this listed under WFS and or Onyx I was not aware that this was a subdivision of Capital One Auto finance if I knew this I would have walked out.
3). The Contract is Notarized and Apostilled.
4). The affidavit is Notarized and Apostilled arbitration.
Capital One claims there is no arbitration clause so when I have any more Financial deals please exclude any offers from Capital One divisions subdivisions. If I buy a New or Used Car Please exclude Capital One they are unfair in their dealings.

Rip off!
My husband purchased a 2005 Chevy Silverado in the fall of 2004 with an auto loan from out then bank Hibernia National Bank. In December of the following year Hibernia sent out 'skip a payment' coupons to all customers who were in good standing. Basically it was a break from your car payment at Christmas with only interest to accrue for that month. Capital One purchased Hibernia National Bank sometime in 2006 (??) and transferred the auto loans to Capital One Auto Finance in 2007. In August I began to receive letters about a 'skipped' payment. I went to the branch to try to clear it up-I had all payment coupon recipes where the payments had been made at the bank branch. After sitting for nearly 2 hours with a personal banker-I was told that the best thing they could figure out is that my Christmas offer to skip a payment from several years ago was being considered a skipped payment and penalties were applying. The branch was unable to do anything to help. Capital One began calling my house daily. Each day I would explain what happened. Each day my account was being turned over to 'Special Ops.' Or that the Hibernia accounts were not completely transferred over yet,etc.etc. After 3 months, more phone calls than I can count with special ops, unanswered e-mails to Capital One and Capital One calling my home as many as 13 times daily I finally received a call from a human in Special Ops. The call came to my cell phone while I was at work. The person left his name and number with extension. Not surprisingly the number does not work, the extensions is non existent and not one person who answers at the 1-877 line can connect me to this person. I was finally forced to take a loan on my home equity line of credit and pay the extra payment to avoid the harassment of the phone calls. Also, now the penalty and late fees for every single month after my complimentary skipped Hibernia payment are added to the remainder of the loan. I was told in no uncertain terms by the personnel at COAF that it was not Capital Ones policy to let anyone skip a payment and even though they purchased Hibernia and their contracts it does not appear that they must abide by guidelines of the contracts they purchased.

Scam and cheating!
Since the onset of my Capital One Auto Loan (March 2005) I have made monthly payments ($587.23) on time, never late. Actually, I’ve always paid at least 2-3 week prior to the scheduled due date. On 8/27/07, I made the 9/22/07 payment. Then, on 9/25/07, I decided to make an additional payment ($5,000) as a principal only pay-down. I called Capital One Payment Processing Center to verify the correct address for this additional payment. The $5,000 was sent according to their instructions. Since Capital One had ceased to mail out monthly statements to me, I went online to verify the payment had posted to my account. My account reflected the extra $5,000 had been applied to my account as principal only. On 10/11/07, I made my usual monthly payment ($587.23) due 10/22/07. On 11/16/07, I made my usual monthly payment ($587.23) due 11/22/07. On 11/17/07, I decided to check my account activity online. Assuming that all would be in order, I got the shock of my life. Capital One had reversed the $5,000 pay-down and applied it toward (2) so called past due late payments and the difference was applied as interest. I went to the local Capital One bank seeking an explanation and was told it appeared to be an error but that they could not fix the error. The bank clerk told me it could only be fixed by customer service via the payment processing center which can only be contacted by phone. Since 11/17/07, I have made numerous calls trying to get my account corrected and have been told a different explanation each time. First, it was a computer error which would be corrected within 2-3 business days. Nothing happened. Then I was told I didn't €™t mail the $5,000 to the correct address which probably caused the confusion but that the error would be fixed within 72 hours. Still, nothing has changed. All of my payments were made via on-line bill pay through a checking account I have at another bank, I called my bank and they looked into the matter and also found the error to be with Capital One as they had sent in all payments as directed. My checking account reflects the same. My bank contacted Capital One and was told the error had been corrected as of 11/16/07. Of course this was not true as I am still trying to get my account fixed as of date, 12/19/07. I have a print out from Capital One with dates (9/25 thru 11/16/07) showing back and forward reversals (debits and credits) of my regular monthly payments including the $5,000 principal pay-down. Capital One has totally taken advantage of my principal pay-down amount and are now stating they have an extra monthly payment amount floating around which they are trying to figure out where to apply the funds but that my account still shows I have (2) past due amounts. Now, as of date, Capital One has finally told me there are no errors on my account and it stands as shown. This is unbelievable and illegal as my payments have never been late and the $5,000 pay-down is gone with the wind. As a high school history teacher, Capital One has caused me and still causing me to be under extreme stress do to this problem.

Ruined my credit
I transfered my car loan to Capital One Auto Finance in November of last year. I paid my payment on time every month. I have not been late with a car payment ever! Suddenly, I get a notice on my credit report that I am 90 days past due. Then another one saying I am 60 days past due and lastly 30 days past due. I had been reported 3 time to all 3 credit bureaus. When I called to get this straightened out they were like oh, you have never been late with a payment. But still kept on reporting me as delinquent. I have called several times and have been told it has been corrected. Still showing on my credit report. THEY ARE SCAMMERS. I HAVE PAID MY BILLS WITH THEM ALWAYS. BEWARE!!!
