Terrible service
My bank used to be to North Fork Bank and before that was Greenpoint Savings Bank, now it is Capital One. Service in my bank used to be great, they catered to the neighborhood, but now everything has changed. They upgrade the banks look, but downgraded customer service. They completely change most of the employees. They do not have have a full time branch manager or he is just never there. They are looking to get you with every $35.00 service fee, they can possible get you for and if you call up to complain, they say that this is our policy, if you do not like it, do not bank with us. Greed is Good

ID Theft - Bank Teller Cover-up
On Sept. 26, 2009 a fraudulent Capital One Counter check was cashed at the Capital One bank in Babylon, NY . The check was for $4500 and was drawn on my Capital One account and made out to my son . It was obvious that the check was fraudulent . The forger even misspelled my son's last name . My forged name was a copy of my poorly scanned signature from my bank signature of 20 years ago . My signature only exist in that form in Capital One's computer files and on the forged check . It was obvious that a Capital One employee was involved . Capital One would not allow me to give their investigators the proof that I had that showed a Capitl One employee was involved . Suffolk ID theft told me that my son was the person that cashed the check and would arrest him if I did not drop the complaint . I did not drop the complaint . When nothing was done for almost a year to find the person responsible for cashing the check and stealing my son's Id . My son and I did our own investigation and gave our information to the 2 new detectives that were assigned to the case . They verified our information and arrested a Capital One Bank teller for ID theft and a class "D" felony . Capital One had fired the teller 2 months previous to the arrest but according to the detectives never mentioned it to them . Capital One let the detectives go on thinking that my son was the perpetrator . Turns out the teller is 5'-2" tall my son is 5'-10" tall . The teller was 21 years old my son was 31 years old . My son did not look anything like the teller . The teller still had my son's stolen driver's license when he was arrested . They may be more than one Capital One employee involved . The original ID theft detectives are being investigated by "Internal Affairs" .

Missing $100. in 2 deposits
I make deposits at the local ATM and just happened to look at the balance. Twice now ( that I know of) I have seen there is a $100. discrepency...My new balance is one hundred dollars less ! Honestly, I never even checked this out before, assuming an ATM could not make such a mistake, but there it is in black and white. In addition to this, I keep getting letters saying they are holding part of the funds when I make a deposit and will MY money to me in segments ( WTF?!?!?) It appears that these are random amounts. A man I know lost his brother and many friends gave the family money to help with funeral expenses. Turns out his check to the funeral home bounced, and about 4000. of checks he received were 'no good'. He is checking to see if the friends banked at Capital One and had their funds "held", just as mine are. I feel like this bank is doing the same thing to everyone, that the amount of complaints is worth the money they make on these 'overdraft bank fees' and 'held funds'.
I am closing my account with them and taking my business and my money elsewhere. I am tired of standing in line behind a bunch of customers complaining about the same thing, and having the customer service reps nodding in agreement that it is a screwed up new company that bought out Chevy Chase Bank.

postpone wire transfer for no reason
I went to capital one bank houston stadium branch yesterday to wire transfer my money, and the transaction actually confirmed and done when I was there, but some hours later I received call from the bank and they asked me to come back to the branch office, otherwise they would hold the money until I come. I told them that money was for urgent use and should be released immediately, I would go to their office once I could find time back there. The manager there oral committed me that they would wire transfer that money within today business hour. But the money so far still hold...
If I could not go back to their office within 1 year, should they hold the money for 1 year?! If they made mistake and missed the document for signature, why they did not send the missed document to clients and ask the postman bring back the signed document back? why client's time and urgent wire transfer should be wasted by their bad service and fault operation????

NSF Fees
Since Capital One Bank somehow took over Chevy Chase Bank, they first said they wouldn't be changing anything. Wrong. They changed everything! They run debits BEFORE deposits every evening run, and they do it in a way that they can bilk every cent from every customer they can get. One chaek for $125 resulting in a $12 overdraft, cost $70 in fees, as the very next night my paychexk went into the bank, and they ran debits before deposits, collecting again for online bill payments that normally would not overdraft my account. They do debits BEFORE deposits and by paying bills online, they get you every time. They are the scum of the earth, thiever and crooks.
DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THEM, IF YOU DO, FIND ANOTHER BANK, THESE THIEVES WILL EVENTUALLY GET YOU

Harassment 6 years later
Approximately in 2005 which is 6 years ago I had a checking acccount with this bank and I closed it as they charged me every day nsf check charges and did not notify me by letter or any other way in a due diligence timeframe. I was so irritated I vowed I would never do business with that bank. They are now saying 6 years later in Nov 2010 I had a safety deposit box which was free and if I did I never got keys or gave them back and they say my contract does not state I returned keys as I did not sign! I did not like the manager and he is no longer there. Now 6 years later I get a bill for the box!!! I never used it andit was supposed to be free according to an assistant manager June and I briefly talked to Dee Hammond new manager who said she would investiga the issue! 6 years and no bill! I stated anyone can sign a statement and if I even had keys they were returned and the manager obviously did not do his job! Perhaps I never got keys. I know there is nothing in the box as I made sure everything was closed out when I left that bank over 6 years ago and vowed I would never do business with them

Unfair increase in membership fees
To Whom It May Concern: That holds or has a Capital One Credit of any kind
If anyone in this world has a Capital One credit card account either a Visa or a Master card account. I suggest you stop doing business with them and to close out all your credit card account or banking you are doing them. Because if you don’t you are going to be in for a major surprise and taken for your hard money you make. So everyone, be ready to get an all notification in your mail boxes. Where they will and are going to try to charge people twice for annual membership fees to hold an account with them, even though Capital One has already charged you their one time a yearly membership fee this year.
On October 1, 2010, I received a small letter in the mail from Capital One Credit Card Company. That on November 14, 2010 that they are going to be increasing all credit card account holders with a new Annual Membership fee to have an account with them. They are raising their membership fees from $39.00 dollars a year to $59.00 a year. When I called nicely and ask them about this letter. They stated that they had ever right to increase the Annual Membership fee without justifiable reasons, because the way the economy is and said that our U.S. government has passed a new law. Allowing all the major credit card companies to charge all their faithful and on time costumers. Two annual membership fees a year to keep an account with them.
When I called to speak to an account specialist they tried to give me all this song and dance and excuses to charge me twice for a yearly membership fee and even though they already charged me $39.00 in a membership fee in August of 2010. They told me that they where going to charge me a second Annual Membership Fee on November 14, 2010 of $59.00 dollars unless I opted out of this change and the letter said that if I opt out of this new change that then they would close my account and they would stop reporting to the credit agency’s of all my on time payments I made to them after I closed my account and declined these new changes. When I called on September 30, 2010, I asked them that being. I’m closing my visa credit card account with them. Because I disagreed with these new changes and felt that they had no right to double charge me or their faithful paying customers two membership fees in one year. Because this is unlawful and a very shady business practices, I asked them if they would also be willing to refund this year’s yearly membership fee. Being that my account with them is going to be closed. They told me that it was past the 30 days and would not. I told them the yearly fee only is to apply if the costumer choices to keep their card open. But, they still refused to refund my membership fee this year even though my credit card account is going to be closed on November 14, 2010. They refuse to credit back the yearly membership fee that they charged me in August 16, 2010 and told me that they where going to charge me still the $59.00 dollar in November. Card holder beware and stay clear of Capital One.

Denial of access to my account
In the take over of Chevy Chase bank I was forced to be a Capital one customer.
Although I talked several hours with 5-8 representatives for several days the bank could not provide me an internet access to my account.
Till now I do not have such access, and I became a prisoner of Capital One bank.
