Will not help customers
I have Capital One Auto. Wanted to refinance, was told they do not refinance there loans, I wanted to defur
one payment. I was told no, so this made me fell behind one month. My payment is $479. The interest is very high. They call at lease 30 times a day. I also had a visa with them. Called for a pay off in 2008, paid it off and they still sent a bill for interest. When calling them to tell them I had no balance it was paid off, Capital one said they would fix it. It never happened. This when back a forth for 3 months, every month the charges got higher and higher . I will be paying off my car loan in July. I will never deal with them again. Stay away from Capital One no matter how good it sounds. Raleigh NC

Making GOOD customers pay for Bad ones
After 7 years as a loyal customer that ALWAYS paid on time and with a credit score of 765 I expected to be treated with the respect that my careful credit management deserves. BUT, that did not stop Capital One from sending me a APR INCREASE of 9% over my previous rate of 6.9%.
When I called to complain and request a reconsideration based on my RECORD and not on their balance sheet, I was told by some guy in India named Saron (ID#JAE169) that NO ONE at Capital One could do anything for me because of rules and regulations???
Aren't we all sick and tired of GREEDY corporations treating people like ignorant children?
Unless consumers STAND up and refuse to do business with companies that CHEAT good customers nothing will ever change.
Please contact your local and national government, media and friends and family and call for a BOYCOTT of unfair practices by companies.
IF we all stood together there is NOTHING we couldn't accomplish. Companies might actually learn that they have to treat customers with respect and not just as a source of revenue. PLEASE JOIN ME!

Interest rate increase
On 4/28/09 I utilized a check that Capital One provided in the amount of $13, 000. I called to verify that the rate that would apply to this was 7.99 % prior to using the check and was assured that it was for the life of the balance. Today I received a notice in the mail from Capital One that they were going to increase the rate to 17.9 %. I called and spoke to Bernard an Accounts Supervisor, employee reference number, ADC418. He informed me that the APR for the $13, 000 would increase effective 8/1/09 to 17.9%, which reflects 14.65 plus prime. I informed him that this was unacceptable and I have always been in good standing with the company. He indicated that was why the company sent me notice. I called another one of my credit card companies the other day and was told the APR would be 8.99 %, or 5.74 plus prime. Bernard went on to say how Capital One was still trying to do business in this economy. We used the money to purchase a travel trailer. The US people have been asked to stimulate the economy. We have done so, my husband and I both work full time and are considered upper middle class. We chose to utilize this check because the interest rate was lower than that offered at the RV dealer. This choice hss come at a great expense if we do not pay Capital One back prior to 7/31/09. Do I have any recourse?

Bogus charge on my account not authorized
I just looked at a detailed bill from a new Charge account with Capital One. On the statement, I have been charged every month since February of 2009 from a Creditinform vendor with the number 866-266-3745 for 8.99 each month. There is no mention of this vendor anywhere throughout my paperwork and as I dug a little further on some search engines, I find this is basically a European compnay with no ties to the Americas that literally allows and provides people to spy people financially for a fee. Who else has had this happen to them and what is or was your outcome? I am awaiting a response from the company and will keep you posted as to what happens, if anything.

LAYED OFF and replaced by FOREIGN GUEST WORKER
I am a Senior Technical Architect with two degrees in Computer Science. I have a Bachelors of Science Degree in Computer Science from the University of Minnesota and a Masters Degree in Software Engineering/Computer Science from Northwestern. I have worked as an Engineer, Programmer, Project Manager, Development Manager, and my last position was a Senior Technical Architect for Capital One. My position was eliminated and retitled about a year ago and given to an Indian H-1B visa worker from Bombay India. I had worked for my former company for 8 years providing them with quality results that were on time and on budget.

Capital One began a cost cutting program and eliminated 40% of it's technical workers. I was one of them. The company then hired 14 H-1B visa guest workers from India to fill in for the laid off full time American workers. They even had the balls to ask me if I would come in and train the H-1B visa workers on systems architecture and network design! I said I would just so I could go back into the company and tell my ex-boss and his boss to go and F**K THEMSELVES!!

I let my ex-boss know that what they did was immoral, downright weasel like, and probably illegal. I also let them know that I regarded their short sighted grab for profits by selling out American employees to be the ultimate sign of corporate malfeasance and cowardice. I said it loud enough so the entire department could hear me, including the Chief Technical Officer down the hall. I walked out of my ex-boss's office and through the main area in the IT department towards the exit. To my ultimate surprise, the IT employees came out of their cubicles and applauded me! The H-1B visa techies sat at a conference table in the main IT area looking utterly horrified at what they had just witnessed. My ex-boss just stood near his office silent, red faced, and apoplectic. Before I left I told everyone to remember that employee performance reviews were coming around for the management teams and to remember the poor management shown thus far.

I have complaints filed with the DOJ, INS, State of Virginia, Henrico County, and am contemplating filing a civil lawsuit.

Here's some news for those scabs-I worked 70 Hours plus per week as an exempt employee. I busted my ass 6 days a week to implement technical solutions your H-1B consulting companies wouldn't touch because of the technical complexity and need for real hard core technical smarts gained from experience, not just pumped into your head in a technical cram for the job interview. I have worked with some super smart H-1B software engineers in the past, I have also worked with H-1B visa 'Technical Engineers' who couldn't figure out how to subnet a simple IP based network.

Now its difficult to get back into the IT Field as more and more if your name isn't indian sounding you simply will NOT get that all important second interview. It becomes obvious when your interviewers are all Indians that what they are looking for is the one skill I do not possess.. that being, I am not an Indian!

Obama should do something to put a STOP to this racism towards American workers on our OWN SOIL!!

illegal Treatment of Mititary Forces
My Son Vincent Anthony Martone has a credit card with Capital One.
> Vincent joined the Marines to serve his country on January 20th, and
> since that time has been at the US Marine Corp. Training Center at
> Paris Island South Carolina. During the time that a recruit is in
> training with the Marines, he does not have access to his mail,
> checking accounts...nor does he have the ability to pay his bills.
> Before He left for Paris Island he mailed out a Government form that
> informed your company that it is illegal to charge late fees and
> interest to recruits while they are in boot camp and that his account
> should be frozen until he had completed his training. Since then Capital One
> added over $250 in Interest and late charges to my sons account,
> and sent him to collection. We tried to communicate and explain to
> the customer services representative ( now that is real joke,
> because these people do not have the slightest idea of what customer
> service is all about), to no avail. I was just on the phone with the
> so called customer service department, and after being bounced around
> like a ping pong ball for 30 minutes I asked to speak to a supervisor.
> I offered on a number of occasions to pay my son's balance as it stood
> at the end of January before all the late fees and interest charges were tacked on, and he informed me that he could not approve that.
> He indicated I would have to pay the full amount, and had the nerve to
> lecture me that my son had a responsibility to pay his bills on time.
> I informed him once again that my son could not pay his bill that he
> was in a Marine Corps Boot Camp and had no access to the outside world
> until he graduated, and that what Capital One was doing was illegal.
> I asked him if he was ashamed of taking advantage of a 19 year old,
> who had decided to serve his country. And his answer to me was, and I quote:
>
> " I really don't care, you are talking to Capital One's service area
> in Canada, he's not serving my country"

This company should be put out of business.

Overcharged
I just received a notice today that my rates were being raised by 10% on my Capital One credit card. I have been a customer for about 8 years now with no lates or overlimit charges and yet they raise my rate by 10%. When I called and asked for the reason the person continued to give me a read response of due to market conditions... So what your telling me is that others are not paying their bills and since you have been paying yours on time for so long we figured we would let you help pay their bills to!! This is not what they said but in a round about way what she was trying to say. Even after talking to a supervisor I was told to pay off my card and use the opt out and then in about a month to apply for a different card and I could get one of their promotion rates. What kind of BS is that.

Anyways after looking at Capital Ones home page new customers are getting rates as low as 9.99% well over what they are trying to change my rates to. This is ridiculous that they are doing this after receiving $3.55 Billion from the government. I can no longer continue to take the greed of these financial company's. They wonder why they got in this position this is why by purging the loyal paying customers and keeping the toxic ones. I am closing all my accounts with this company and will no longer have part in a company that does not care for itself nor it's customers. Their greed has deepened much like the oil companies hopefully our government will finally take a step back and let them fail to prove a lesson.

Overcharged
I had an overlimit fee in February 2009 due to a past due fee for January 2009, which was in turn due to the change in APR - from 14.99 to 23.15. They increased my APR because 'due to current economic condition'. Obviously, they think that we, the people who are suffering from job loss and cut back hours just to still be working, ought to pay for their lost in profits. This is my first overlimit and past due in more than 2 years. I try to keep my payment on time (automatic online payment) and more than the minimum.

While I would admit that it was my fault not to check the notification of the APR change, and I was fine accepting the overlimit fee of 39.00. My minimum payment that Capital One requested was $145.00. I paid $168.00. I thought that Capital One would have included the overlimit fee and the past due fee into their calculation of my minimum payment (which was increased from 73.00).

I just looked online tonight and saw that they have charged me another overlimit fee of 39.00 and my balance is indeed still $72 over the limit. I am not sure how they calculate this and am now trying to research this and figure it out myself, before talking to them.

I doubt that Capital One is doing anything illegal, but I believe it borders on scamming and robbing customers. Is there something that could be done to credit card companies from abusing their client base? It is obvious that something or some laws and regulations need to be administered to this credit card company.

Payment Protection
NEVER get the Capital One Payment Protection Plan. Although they take money out of your credit card each month to pay for this, it has so many loopholes that you will get royally screwed if you ever have to use it. First, if you have it and it and you become ill, it won't pay your balance like it says cause it will become a "preexisiting illness". Then, no one knows what is going on even though you become permanetly disabled (of course not of choice), and you really need it you have to start the "notice of claim, 6, yes, I said six weeks after becoming permanetely disabled. and even though it doesn't mention this 6 weeks in the disclosure notice and of the hell you are going through because you are SICK. You must have the correct date of disability or 8 years later they of someother hellhound credit bureau will sick (sic) a lawyer on you for full payment, take you to court and, or take all the money out of your checking account that was meant for medicine, rent, electric., etc. So never get this farce of a program because no one ever is benefited by it unless you fall into a perfect course of dates and then you are archived untill it goes throught 3 other "sister companies" (or Mother companies) 8 years later and you are screwed worse than ever! Thanks Capital One, I will be recommending your card to lots of other people!

Collection Calls
Capital One is so out of control they are truly becoming comic! First they called at 9:53pm (a major no-no), then they call like every 30 minutes and fail to leave voice mail messages. I email them after every call they make and they fail to respond to any of my attempts to contact them. I have filed a complaint with the FTC against them (I somehow doubt that I am alone here).

Interested to know if there is anything that I/we can do to harass them like they harass us!
