Unauthorized Fed Tax Withholding
When you setup a new Capital One Money Market account, there is a question that asks if you are subject to Fed Tax withholding, and if yes, you check the box. I have never checked the box, but now for the 3rd time on 3 different accounts, they have withheld fed tax. On one account, the only way I could resolve the problem was to close the account. I was told that I had to write a letter and ask to have the tax withholding stopped, I did that twice and they did not stop it. I was finally told by a CSR that the only way they could think of to stop it was to cancel the account and open a new one so I did. The next account that it happened on, I was able to get a CSR to stop future tax withholding but not until after tax was withheld. Now on another new account, they have done it again. I keep copies of forms so I can prove I never checked the box.

At first, I just thought they were screwing up, but now after a 3rd occurrence, I think it is a plan. I think what they are doing is withholding tax on your account balance, then they apply the interest you have earned. If anyone questions it, they say oops, sorry about that and maybe fix it for you but in the meantime they have used your money, then withheld tax that you didn't ask to be withheld so that they are paying interest on a smaller balance. For most of the accounts the amount withheld is probably small, in my current case, $2.32, nothing huge, more of a nuisance, but on hundreds of thousands of accounts, they are saving huge interest payments.

Is anyone else experiencing this?

High Interest Rates
Capital one is screwing people big time, good customers with very good credit are being hit with very high interest rates arbitrarely and when you call them they don't want to budge their only advice is you either keep the high interest rates, continue paying and shut up or, they will close your account (screw your Fico's) and lower the rate. So either way they screw you. New customers BE AWARE! THEY WILL LURE YOU WITH A NICE LOW INTEREST RATE only to raise it after a year or two and there is nothing you can do. They did exactly that to me and it will take me 32 years to pay them $15, 000 with a monthly payment of $400!!.
The government should take a look at this abuses and do something about it instead of fighting over health reform or anything else that is good for the people.

Never do any kind of business with the humorous attempt of the so called company Capital One
I have been a customer of Capital One for atleast two years and the way your customer service reps handle business is horrible. Last night i was on the phone with them for 4 hours. I talked to about 24 different people (no exhageration). I don't know how you train your employees but i can tell you from my experiance the value of your customers and customer satisfation goals are non existant. I was directly lied to, hung up on, and was spoken to the in the rudest and most disrepectful way than any company i have ever came in contact with. I have worked in the customer service industury for many years and i can honestly say i have never seen a company with such a disreguard to customer satisfaction until Capital One. The worst part was that the whole reason i had to deal with your so called "customer service" for so long last night was because Capital One was at fault. I am extremely and sincerely disgusted with the events that occured let me assure you that this will never be happening again because I am no longer a Capital One customer and will make sure that I NEVER am a customer again. Not only will i inform anyone i come into contact with about what happened and how poorly i was treated but you can be sure i will advise them to take their business elsewhere as well. Further more i am currently in the process of taking legal action not only for all the fraudulent services conducted but for pain and suffering of my step daughter for the consquences suffered on your behalf. I certaintly hope there is at least one person employeed who cares and respects your customers otherwise im positive the ignorance and negitive business practices your company portrays will directly result in much more detrimental loss of business.

High Interest Rates
With the way the economy is right now you would like that these credit card companies, all of them, would not raise their rates to 24.95% and higher. People are struggling to pay their bills and keep their heads above water and this is what they are doing. One would think that these companies would have some compasion for people who have lost their jobs and work with them so they can pay their bills off. But instead the opposite. They have raised the interest rates so high that many people are just saying who cares and filing bankruptcy to get rid of the credit card debt. I have written hardship letters to these people at Capital One showing them my financial status and asking them to please lower the rates back down to what they were originally so I can pay the debt off. Their reply was that I accepted the contract with them for whatever the rates were. I could cancel the cards and pay off the debt; use the cards until the term was up and pay off the debt; or legal action would be taken. I am just trying to protect my credit that I have built up and want to pay these people off but they are making it impossible for me to do so. Why can't they just decrease the interest rates and when the economy is back on its feet again raise it to where they want and then I can decide whether I want to keep them? Is everyone getting so greedy out there that they don't care about anything except the almighty dollar in their pocket!

Dear Mr. Fairbank:

As a customer, I find it very troubling with attempts to reach one of your office subordinates via telephone and US Mail almost impossible.
Since February 22, 2010, I made numerous attempts via telephone and US Mail to report and on-going issue with my account and the unprofessional conduct by your debt collection staff located at your Knoxville Tennessee and Plano Texas Call Centers.

I received the attached letter dated March 8, 2010, signed by a William Shank responding on your behalf with instruction to contact him at (800-946-0332. In that letter, please notice a number of handwritten names and phone numbers that I spoke to in the search of William Shank who never gave a telephone extension or employee number etc. After an exhausted 2 hours on the phone with a number of rude customer service agents, I was told no one with that name existed within the Capital One System. In addition, I received a generic second attached letter dated March 9, 2010 threatening with repossession of the vehicle. This I consider to be in retaliation for my attempt to report the Call Centers employee’s unprofessional and unlawful conduct to your office.

On March 31, 2010, I took the entire day off, for the sole purpose to resolve my on going issues with Capital One Auto Loan. I started the morning by trying to call your cooperate headquarters direct phone number (703)720-1000 only to received the following messages, “The switch board operators are not available please leave a message”. After a number of exhausted calls I was able to reach Mr. Scott Meadow from treasury department. Mr. Meadow apologized on the behalf of Capital one, for my endless unsuccessful attempt to resolve my Auto Loan issue and unable to reach your office, he promised to have some one from VP of Customer Relations level contact me immediately.
I received a phone call from some one identifying themselves as Narada ID or employee number VCL764 approximately 30 minutes after ending the call with Mr. Meadow. Mr. Narada took down my loan number and promised to call me back within an hour, I requested his phone number or extension he told me he did not have a call back number. It should be noted, neither Mr. Narada nor any one else from Capital One has yet to contact me as of April 4, 2010.

It is refreshing to read as a stock holder, and customer that Capital One has been widely recognized for its entrepreneurial culture, progressive work place, and community engagement.
Nevertheless, I find it quite disturbing for a company of such enormity can have so many identical complaints from hundreds of its auto -loan customers posted on several on-line forums.

It appears Capital One Auto-Loan has complete ignore what I am trying to accomplished as a consumer and rather engaged in intimidation and threats in an attempt to collect a debt that is less than 25 days old, therefore, triggering a direct violation of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA), 15 U.S.C. § 1692 et seq.

While I would appreciate a timely resolution to this matter, I will not be subjected to the unprofessional and unlawful conduct by Capital One Call Center or Debt Collection Employees.
I can be reached at xxx-xxx-xxxx only to discuss the forgoing matter. I do not wish to be bombarded with any harassment phone calls at my place of employment.

Sincerely
Braden March 30, 2010
Outrageous rates
Capital One and their rates are outrageoulsy high. Yes I was late on my payments, but the past due was more than half of my mortgage and I was still under my credit limit!!! They would not work with me in any way for a reasonable payment plan that I could afford. They also called 2-3 times after I made payment arrangements.

If they are calling your job send a letter in writing (Cease & Desist) for them to contact you by mail only!that last thing anyone wants is collection calls at work which puts your business out there.

prepaid card
I recently started to use Capital Onecard prepaid as a secondary source for my paycheck direct deposit, since I get paid on Friday and my bank wachovia does engage in the practice stacking your debits, thus I was incurring overdraft charges. the first time I used the Capital one card was Friday payday, and i made two purchases. By around 7 pm that night, my card was declining. I called them and they stated that I needed to go thru verification by faxing my social security card and drivers licence, and that they did not know when I would be able to use my card, I could not use my card until Monday afternoon. The next payday, they did not get my direct deposit available until 830 pm stating there was a problem with the direct deposit. I would not reccomend this product to anyone!!! You have a multi-billion dollar bank/credit card issuer that thinks it is ok to tell a customer "we are working on it, and I do not know when you can have access to your money"Just because you use a prepaid card doesnt mean you can be walked over. i have used prepaid cards in the past to help manage my spending, and to help me not incur ridiculous overdraft fees from wachovia even when i have overdraft protection...but thats another story. Netspend is a great card that i have used in the past, but I was trying to see what capital One had to offer... nothing but problems, excuses and no access to my hard earned salary on payday. Stay away from this product...Customer service closes about 8pm, and they are in Utah and advised me my money would be available by 12 pm their time which is 3pm EST...it was still not available until 830pm that night after 4 calls, and my car insurance due. They will leave you in the lurch with no recourse and it is your monry. I can see why citizens do not trust the banks.

Annual Interest Rate Increase
I received my March 2010 from Capital One and found my APR has gone from around 10% to over 17%. I have been a member of this Bank for over 10 years and have had savings in excess of $60, 000 and a credit line around $20, 000. Never missed a payment and have paid down my credit debt to zero several times. I called and asked why the increase in interest and without any prior notification and was told the company is in tough economic times and it had nothing to do with my good standing with respect to my account and furthermore; we see you have been paying above your minimum payments. Furthermore, Capital One informed it's credit card customers in February of 2009 that there may be an upcomeing increase in interest rates! I have always planned to close my account when that happens but am now told that since I have used my credit card since then, that I must pay the 17% interest on the balance. I was also told Capital One is not willing to work with me on this matter.

Payment plans
First of all I am appalled at the employees that work in your call centers at Capital One. Not only do they not listen (or care to), but they are completely unwilling to be helpful or even kind. My understanding of a “Customer Service” Rep was just that – to help customers. Apparently this is not the case at Capital One.

I recently got a 2nd salary cut ON the same day my Capital One raised my interest rate to 22.9%. I had been going thru a hardship for almost 6 months now. I have mortgage that I am trying to modify and now my 2nd salary cut that I am trying to deal with. I have stopped using the card as of Dec 2009.

On March 23rd I spoke with Neele and told her I was unable to pay the minimum payment at such a high rate and would need to discuss a payment plan with someone. I told her I was only able to afford $100 a month. She said that was fine and would adjust the account.

On March 26th I went online to pay and payment was still $195. I called again and spoke with Anna (R4aE015) who wasn’t listening to what I was saying and was robotic in her answers. She said there was nothing she could do and transferred me to an Account Manager

I than spoke with the rudest, unhelpful employee I have ever dealt with, John (PKX791 – he was hesitant to give this to me by the way) who was not listening either. I explained my situation once again and told him I was being proactive and trying to set a payment plan so CP One could get there money. He informed me that if I didn’t make the minimum payment of $195 – EVEN IF I MADE THE EFFORT TO PAY AT LEAST $100 – after 90 days my account would be considered delinquent. I wanted to clarify this with him, because I can’t imagine ANY company not wanting to work something out with a customer WHO was at least trying to pay off her debt. He clarified that there was no point in me making a partial payment, since if I didn’t pay the minimum my account would still be delinquent.

After that, I realized that there was no point in wasting my lunch in talking to someone as unhelpful as John, and that is why I am writing a letter to CP One and the OCC.

I can make $100 payments until the account is paid off. I have been a member of CP One for more than ten years now. At the time with a mortgage and a car payment, I can’t afford anything else. I am trying to do the right thing and pay off my debt, but at now making $20/hr – this is all I can afford at the time. My other credit card Bank of America was more than willing to help me out and put me on a payment plan.

If Capital One refuses to work with me than I don’t know what else to do.

want me to pay for
My credit cards were ran by for over 30k. Citi bank notified us and removed all charges and so did capital one who removed all but one charge for $1400 and simply they want us to pay for it.

Its all in black and white, I have all documentations etc and I have proved it to them but they said we don't care, they want my company to pay for it.

Its total non sense, they filed on my credit report and got me frost raided and I have no choice but to file a law suit against them.

any one has any idea how I can take a harsh action against their malicious behavior ?
