This Company has kept a number of peoples deposits over the last couple of years, theer is a new website that is trying to determine exactly how much this really is and not only keep a running total of the deposits kept but also centralise all avaialble information about this companies conduct so external investigations can take place. none return of deposit
On 19 Jul 2010 I took possession of a hire car From UK car hire at Gatwick Airport. The agent from UK car hire introduced himself as Michael and asked for an imprint of my credit card for security purposes in case of accidents. I agreed and michael stated the slip would be destroyed within 48 Hrs of return of the vehicle in good order. On the 21 Jul 2010 I noticed that the sum of 560 pound had been taken from my credit card account. I tried to contact the car company but could get no response . On 01 Sep 2010 I returned the vehicle to Heathrow Airport as arranged. I again rang the company at 1500 hrs and advised that the office was closed On my return to Australia in mid October 2010, I again tried to contact the said company, by phone and E Mail I got no answer from the phone calls only a recorded message. As to E Mails I received replies advising that the matter was to be placed with their accounts department and then another E Mail advising the manager would be handling the complaint. That was on 22 Oct 2010 I have tried to contact them by E Mail via their web site but they advise me the situation is closed.
The actions by this company in regards to returning deposits is out and out STEALING and their is no other word for it. Mr Michael Goodwin is a blatant thieve .
I am not the first person to be cheated by this man, and I doubt if I will be the last, he cannot help himself he has to cheat people out of their money How can he be able trade with his reputation It does nothing for the tourist trade. His web sight claims to have an office in Sydney Australia . Another sham just a recorded message to ring during office hours

Refund of money
As many others, my parents are waiting for a substantial refund from CarHireUK. They've now held the money for around three months, seven weeks since the car was returned and it is getting increasingly frustrating. They are not taking my calls any more.
I have reported them to Consumer Direct who will take it up with Trading Standards. All I can urge is to stay away. Do not rent from them as they are at best very poorly organised and at worst deliberately swindling customers.

Car-hire-uk (no refund)
Like so many others who are using this medium to complain about CAR-HIRE-UK.com refund I wish to share with all who read this that it happened to me too.
Having hired a car from this company and paid my insurance deposit and fuel excess amounting to 575 pounds i returned it half full and one month later after calling and emailing the company on countless occasions they still have not paid my deposit back.
Something should be done at Heathrow to ban this car hire company from its illicit practices. I live in South Africa and have little or no chance of getting my deposit back unless these fraudulent people are made to refund everyones deposit forthwith by the police or the standards board.
I would appreciate getting some feedback from other people who have been scammed so that i can know who else i can complain to.

Non return of deposits
In February of this year I rented a car and a 500GBP security deposit and GBP 50 fuel deposit were deducted from my credit card. The car was returned in good order and full of fuel but to date despite repeated attempts to contact customer services to obtain the refund. they will not reply.

Retention of Deposit
I rented a small Ford Kia from Car-Hire-UK for a period of 8 days at 122.20 UK Pounds. They deducted a security deposit of 561 UK Pounds stating that the deposit would be refunded once the car was returned in good order, clean and fully fueled, which it was. The car was returned on the due date at the long term car park at Heathrow on the 26th May and they are now stalling on the refund of the deposit. This is fraud with a company operating out of London Heathrow airport and is a disgrace to UK tourism for this to be allowed to continue.
I now see on a seperate complaintswebsite that Car-Hire-UK are doing this on a continuous basis to their clients.

Non Authorised Credit Card Transaction
Through a live chat window I booked a hire car with Car-Hire-UK. I gave them all my credit card details. After that I googled their company to find this website. I told the person I wanted to cancel the order and he said that I could not do so. I argued that he hadn't confirmed with me that the car rental had been approved, but he told me to check my email. He said that a 500 pound deposit needed to be made 4 weeks before the hire as an insurance deposit. Realising this was a scam I finished the chat with him and rang the bank straight away. The company had already charged AUD$755.29 to my credit card with no authorisation. It is still 10 weeks before my holiday so no deposit or anything should have been charged. I am not waiting for it to be disputed through the bank. DO NOT BOOK WITH THIS COMPANY
