Bogus Employment Opportunities
I received a text message on my cell today from CareerNetwork. It says "Hi Brian _____, call me about the Aircraft Fueler Job you have applied for at 866-538-9449." I applied for this position on craigslist over a month ago and thought something was fishy. Especially when directed from the 'pre-written' email to apply online at quickstrikejobs.com. Contact info on craigslist was a gmail.com address, and I have seen many more in my search on there.
I called out of curiosity and the woman whose name I cannot recall now, immediately knew my name. She asked me some basic information confirming my address, email and phone number. I didn't really think much about it til she asked me if I was interested in furthering my education. I told her 'No I wasn't interested'. She then said ok and would forward my app on to the employer for consideration.
I checked this number on several sites, and read here about all the complaints, but unfortunately after the fact. Which I should have known better in the first place.
The other night I noticed on craigslist for my area that the same Aviation Fueler job was posted, but with a different name: abdulrosenbloom@gmail.com. My wife works at the local airport and checked on this person for me, and OF COURSE THERE WAS NO ONE ON THE ENTIRE AIRPORT PROPERTY BY THAT NAME. So I went into craigslist and posted a response for that job as a scam, and voila, not ten minutes after I posted that that job was a scam, the posting came down. The next day another job for warehouse associates was posted, so I checked it out. Another contact with a gmail.com address. Sent quick email saying only 'Hi', and prewritten response directed me to another site to fill out app for immediate consideration. It was the exact same site in design, layout and color, just a different name from the original quickstrike jobs. I realised that this was one of many 'shell-sites' these idiots were setting up.
I have since posted several notices in the jobs sections of craigslist warning other job seekers like me that this is a SHAM, a SCAM, and a RIPOFF. I don't know yet what they will do with my resume, cell number, email address and employment information, but my next stop after here is the FTC website... It's too bad that honest people seeking a job to support themselves/ families are being preyed upon by slime-bags and low-lifes such as these. I can only blame myself on this one for falling for it when I suspected something stunk in the first place. Hence the saying 'hindsight is always 20/20'>
