Do Not Call List
In my quest to find employment in Indiana, I’ve posted my resume on Careerbuilder.com, Hotjobs.com, Indeed.com and Monster.com. While these sites are free for resume posting and seeking companies who are hiring, I’ve recently started getting mass amounts of calls from Companies selling services and/or products. Under a diligent research, it appears that thousands of other people in Indiana also have received these same calls from companies want to sell something or a service such as higher education, building a better resume, or pay them to find a job for you.
While I may not be a lawyer, I know the Law pretty well in Indiana to know that unwanted soliciting calls from people who are registered on the Do Not Call List is illegal and unethical. New Horizons Computer Learning Centers, Inc. is the main company going on line to these free employment search engines and obtaining names, phone numbers and addresses, then calling these people offering services such as obtaining degrees in the Medical Field, or computer programming or multiple other services all at a cost.
Laws have been implemented in this State to prevent companies from making unwanted soliciting calls to people about services and products. In the past 5-working days, I’ve had 11 calls from New Horizons Computer Learning Centers, Inc from there Indianapolis, Indiana location (317) 575-7600 wanting me to sign up for a medical certificate. I’ve advised these solicitors numerous times to remove my name and number from there list, but every call is from a different sales associate who also found my information on Careerbuilder.com and started calling me.
Another company is following the lead of New Horizons Computer Learning Centers, Inc and Career Choice Network. A call is made, and the person on the line is selling services. Those services are to pay them to find a job for you. RL Stevens and Associates are another company that makes numerous calls to people offering to find them jobs if paid to do so. May I please add that the Internet shows that the owner of Career Choice Connect has been investigated for criminal fraud for taking money to find jobs, but never providing those jobs?

These are illegal practices that border corrupt business affairs. Where is the liability, the companies making these calls, or the companies who have these sites, and allow companies to register in order to obtain this personal information to solicit people their services? These companies offering services must register first in order to have access to obtain persons information. So the question is, which company is committing the crime?

Its sad that in today’s economy companies are going on line and soliciting service to people unemployed through free website. The main fact of these activities is that it’s illegal to do so. My Civil Rights have been violated, and I believe that other State Constitutional Laws have been violated as well by these company’s activities. I m on the no call list, and I’ve receiving calls daily from the above named companies. I’ve already written a compliant with Monster Worldwide, Inc, Yahoo.com, Inc, New Horizons Computer Learning Centers, Inc, Careerbuilder.com Inc. and Indeed.com Inc. An injunction should be filed along with a Class Action lawsuit preventing companies from soliciting people in this State by obtaining their information over these free website offering free employment searches.
I’m asking for your assistance in this matter. I will cooperate in any manner necessary to investigate these allegations and with any legal proceedings that you may deem necessary against these companies.

Unauthorized charge on credit card
I was looking at CareerBuilder.com for a job. The Web site was very well laid out and it pulled me in pretty good. I was even considering purchasing the service. They did not tell you the cost of the service until after you put your credit card information in. When I found out how much it was ($89.99), I changed my mind and totally closed the Internet Explorer browser. I thought that by doing this I was ending any association with CareerBuilder.com and the transaction. A few days later when I was looking at my online banking account, I discovered that CareerBuilder.com just went ahead and charged my credit card for $89.98. When I called them for a refund they told me I was only getting back $29.99 of the total amount because they already sent some of my resumes out. I said, ” I did not ask you to or authorize you to do that." They told me that because I put my credit card information in, that gives them the right to sign me up for and charge me for their service!!!

Bad service
I posted my resume on Monster anonymously (hiding my eMail address using their private link eMail) and received no spam.

Two months later, I posted my resume anonymously on Careerbuilder.com using the same methods as Monster. In 2 weeks I am getting over 500 spams a day.

I believe Careerbuilder SOLD my eMail address to companies.

There is no other way these spammers would be getting my private eMail address. AND, it all happened the very next day after posting my resume on Careerbuilder.com.

Is there a way to sue Careerbuilder.com

Unauthorized charge!
On 3/6/08 BSM/Grant search from Las Vegas Nevada charged my card $7.95 for something I did not order. I was looking at a jobsite, Careerbuilder.com, and the charge appeared shortly afterwards when I happened to look at my bank statement. There is no contact information for this business for me to dispute the charge. Had I not looked at my bank record I would not have noticed it. I will contact my bank about this.

I did not purchase anything through this website.
