Carmel Financial has been calling us to set up a payment arrangement because we've fallen behind on our payments. I have explained to them that I don't have the money to make a payment, I don't know when I'll have the money, but as soon as I'm able, I will contact them. After I explain this, I hang up (as per instructions from my attorney) and they call back to yell at me!!!
If I hang up on them they call my cell phone, my husbands cell phone and then my husbands office phone. If he doesn't answer that, they start calling the reception desk to be transferred to him.
They called me 13 times yesterday (I talked to them on the 1st call) and when I demand to speak to a supervisor they hang up.
We mailed a harassment letter from our attorney stating our rights as a consumer and asked that they only contact us once a week (which, according to the FTC website, if they receive a request written or verbal they have to follow it) and they snicker and say "we can call as often as we want" They also claim they "never got the letter"
This company is shady at best and needs to be shut down. Their Customer Service Reps obviously aren't familiar with collection rules and regulations and they choose to try to bully their clients.
