Apparently at Carolina Hospital Systems, you have to go out of your way to get a bill and pay it. I've had the money set aside to pay them since I had the procedure done. I paid the requested portion upfront and waited for Insurance to pay their portion so I could find out what was left. After this I never received a bill. Then I got a call from them asking about my address. The hospital said they didn't have it. While looking to see what why she was calling the operator found my address and said she would copy it over and send me a bill (apparently they use so many different systems they couldn't remember to put it in the right place). A week passed and I called back asking about the bill. Awhile later I called again. And again. After 4 phone calls I never got a bill (I was having to call on my break at work as I work during the hours the billing dept is open).
Today I received a notice that they had sent it to a collections agency (from the collection agency, still nothing from the hospital). I've been informed that unless the validity of the claim is disputed they will report it to the national credit agencies (I have over an 800 rating at this time). So somehow they could get my address correct and mail this to me from out of state, but the hospital on the other side of town couldn't find me.
Again, I tried to call the hospital, and all anyone can tell me is that the billing department is closed.
