I recently went on this cruise package that we got in the mail for 7-night deal (including 2 nights Fort Lauderdale, 2 nights Bahamas Cruise and 3 nights in orlando ). We thought it was a great deal but when we got to florida we had to pay taxes on everything!! 20$ USD per night at each hotel, 38$ USD for gasoline and taxes on the cruise which equaled $140 dollars extra and if you rented a car there would be 70$ taxes also ! I would never go on any cruise pkg from this company again!
We upgraded our 2-nights stay in ft lauderdale from Ramada to a hotel on the beach called Ocean Manor, that hotel was disgusting, there was hair on the sheets and pillows, the washroom was slimey and had hair in the tub and sink. I would rate this hotel a 1 star. We had some friends stay at Ramada and they didnt enjoy the stay there very much either.
On the second day of our ft lauderdale stay they scheduled us a resort tour that was suppose to be about 2 hours long, it actually was a times share presentation/tour which took anywhere from 5-8 hours.
It is terrible the amount of lies they tell you here.
As for the cruise, we had paid for an upgrade to have a larger room with a Queen bed. When we got to the ship we had the small 87sq feet room that originally came with the package. We told the complaints department for the cruise and they said they were overbooked and could not do anything about it. I mean by this time i was furous, this is my first vacation that i have been looking forward to for months.
There were also about 10 other people there waiting in line with the same exact problem. We tried to find a remedy for the problem in the line up of people by switching rooms but we could not. So the complaints department told us to come back at 5 PM to see if they could do anything for us.
We know a handful of people left the ship b/c they were so dissapointed with the rooms they were put in. We were very fortunate b/c we got the room we wanted at 5 pm.
The boat was one of the smallest cruises, but the entertainement and food was good.
As for the stay in Orlando, we were put in a Smoking room at Ramada Maingate West, which is quite far from everything. My boyfriend and I are both non-smokers and i had a hard time sleeping in the room but we put up with it b/c the front desk also said they were overbooked and couldnt do anything about it.
After the trip I called Carribean Cruise Line and complained, told the everything that happened and they gave me a fax number/ mailing address where i can send my letter to. The lady told me that it was my responsibilty to make sure i didnt have a smoking room ...hmm apparently i was suppose to call this hotel and make sure they put me in a non-smoking room. She explained to me that they had no power in what room we got... and i guess that is probabley why my room on the cruise was also not upgraded.
Well lets sum this up here. This cruise line is only after your money, they do not take any responsibility for the mistakes they make and they just put the blame elsewhere when they know they have made a mistake. I am definately going to write a letter to the compliance department. I would not take a cruise from this cruiseline again and would not suggest anyone do it either or you are in for dissapointment .
