My disabled son and I both had our name on the Carroll Elec. account for the house we own together. He has lived there alone for 2.5 yrs. My son's name has always been primary on the bill, and mine was listed second. Our levelized billing was about $48/month. Bills were always pd on time, and we even ran credit balances. He wanted to pay by himself, so last month we went in and took my name off. No one there warned us what would happen when he got the first bill. FYI, there has been no other change--location, usage, etc. in 2.5 years. On my son's first bill with his name alone, Carroll Electric then raised the levelized billing to $106.00 month, over $50 more than what we paid before. I called the local office and the headquarters and neither would do anything because this was a NEW ACCOUNT and they had to assess usage for a year before it would level out!!! My son lives on disability, and this was a crushing blow to have the company be unable to see how nonsensical this action is. I even asked to put my name back on, but then THAT WOULD BE A NEW ACCOUNT!!! I feel certain that a person with compassion exists at Carroll electric, and that this person knows how to resolve this issue. I have been unable to find that person. If you have someone's name, I would like to know it. A disabled man is in a CATCH 22. It would have made him feel important to have this in his name, now all he feels is abused.
