My 11-year-old son lost his permanent front tooth 3 years ago, so last year, when we arrived to the Killeen/Temple area, we paid $3000 to Carus and got braces to maintain that space for a future permanent artificial tooth. A year later, the braces did its job so it was removed by Carus and they made a retainer with an artificial tooth on it (to mainain the space) for my son to use. The retainer was too loose so it kept falling off, so 10 days later, I took my son back to have it adjusted. The orthodontic made adjustments to it, but made it too tight this time; and 2 hours later, when my son tried to take it off to eat, the retainer broke. They offered to "repair for free this time", but it took 5 days to get it repaired. In that 5-day-period, the empty space in my son's teeth closed up, so when we picked up the repaired retainer, the retainer/artificial tooth wouldn't fit. So the orthrodontic decided to "grind" the artificial tooth so that it would fit. Well, he grinded down the artificial tooth so much that you could see a large gap on the left and right side of the artificial tooth! So I complained and they said, "It happens." So if they knew that "it happens", why didn't they inform me and use some kind of temporary fix until the retainer is fixed? They had two choices: fix the retainer quickly or use a temporary fix until they get that retainer fixed. The dentist/orthodontic actually told me that, if I'm unhappy with it, I needed to find someone else! What a dumb group of orthodontics/dentists/dental assistants!
These guys know what they're doing ... this is how they make their money ... knowing exactly what the outcome would be if a certain a step is missed: the clients keep coming back for fixes!
Choose your dentist wisely and DO NOT choose Carus!!! The Carus group has bunch of unprofessional and unqualified dentists/orthodontics!
