Castle Productions is a central Michigan DJ "service" ran by Chris Waite. We hired him to DJ our wedding, and wanted to let people know what they're getting themselves into BEFORE they pay the NON-REFNDABLE deopsit to this wanna-be dj!

We had paid the deposit back in February (our wedding was in August)when he told us HE would be the DJ for our wedding--which we should have gotten in writtng-- and when it came time to pay the remainder (which is required before the date of the event) Chris Waite was one hard person to get in touch with. After about a week of us calling him to figure out when we were going to have our final meeting, and leaving him numerous voicemails, he finally got ahold of us, and told us sorry, his phone was broken... Then he didn't remember who we were or the date of our wedding, and asked US what was on our contract, which all seemed a little shady.

Finally, he set up a time to meet with us to collect the rest of our payment, and went over final details with us. At this time we gave him an invitation to the rehearsal so he could get an idea of how and where to set things up on the day of our wedding. Everything was written out for him in a timeline we also gave him for our wedding, with TIMES to play and announce things. He had no other questions for us, so we were under the impression everything was set for our wedding, and we would be seeing him then.

The day of the wedding, I was getting my hair done, and Chris called me, trying to get into the wrong venue to set up. We had rehearsal the day before then went bowling after, and he went off of our rehearsal invitation, trying to set up for our wedding at the bowling alley three hours before our wedding (which, if he looked at the timeline we gave him, it showed where and when he was supposed to arrive and set up at our wedding venue) After calling my husband and I multiple times while we were trying to get ready for our wedding, it finally clicked to him!

Through all of these phone calls, Chris Waite never once bothered to mention to either of us until a few hours before our reception was to start that he had a "family emergency" and he wouldn't be able to DJ for our wedding. The replacement he sent was not dressed for a wedding, which was another thing Chris promised us- he would be wearing a tux, and bow tie... the guy he sent us had on black jeans and an old grey polo shirt. The replacement came up to us too many times to count to let us know they didn't have songs which they told us they would...we had to switch some songs minutes before they played them... this replacement had horrible breath, and mumbled into the mic so nobody could even understand what he was announcing... As it turns out, Chris Waite, our original DJ had another function to DJ at and lied to us about a family emergency, left us with an inexperienced dj, took they things he had put in our contract (hidden camera, bose sound system, fog, t.v. to play slidehow on, etc) to his other gig, and when we tried to confront him at the end of our reception when he came to clean up his "equipment" (which was all the old stuff he had before he upgraded) he called the cops on my husband because he felt "threatened"! What an *** to do that to someone on their wedding day, on top of already screwing us over by sending us some guy off the street to do a professional's job!

We waited until the Tuesday following our wedding to call Chris Waite to figure out how to work something out with him, since we were clearly NOT happy with the services we paid for- in full- before he screwed us over... After a day, he returned our call, told us flat out, he would give NO refund of any ammount... After threatening to take him to small claims court, he said, go for it, and he wouldn't fight it... We went and got the papers to file against him, but after reading through it all, realized even if he doesn't fight it, it is still up to us to get the money he would owe us, and the courts can't make him pay... (Also, you need his business, or home address, which he doesn't have listed ANYWHERE...some company!) We decided against all the hassle of taking him to small claims court, and still not getting our money back from him and decided this is a better way to get even with him... granted we wont get our refund, but hopefully he won't get any more business, which, in return is money to him.

If you are thinking about going with Castle Productions to dj any function, please shop around for a more reliable company... this one, ran by Chris Waite is a huge JOKE!!! (His number is (989)400-3881...if you're dealing with anyone with that number... be careful, unless you like wasting money on a crock!
