Contract Cancellation
Sent information for services to be cancelled. They wrote back and said we were under a contract to only cancel at the time of renewing of the contract. They never explained this to us, nor did we ever received any information about this. Then they sent the letter to us where we signed the contract back in 2007 with another company, and it was highlighted under a section regarding the payments about the renewing of the contract. At the bottom of the letter where it states about cancelling the contract, it didn't say anything about this had to be done at the yearly renewal of the contract. This company is misleading people. Don't sign anything from them on the day they come out, you need to look their paperwork over closely. They will take money out of your bank account and will not stop.

Contract Scams
They tell you one thing on the phone and when you follow their instructions exactly they turn around and screw you! First of all I never signed a contract directly with them. They work with other low life security companies like APEX Security that sells you some 75 dollar piece of crap that can be bypassed by a two year old. Then this company dumps all the contracts down to Castle Rock without your knowing or permission! If everyone was given the chance to investigate this company they would see that they have a F rating by the BBB and they would never allow them to take over the contract. That's how these scammers operate! So beware and never sign a Home Security monitoring contract. It will most likely end up with some bottom of the barrel company like Castle Rock!

Refusal to Cancel
I continue to have the same cancellation problems as listed below. Back in 2007 I sent a letter to cancel service and was told I had 2 years left on my contract. I instructed them to keep the letter to cancel upon completion of my contract (May 2010). I have been trying to get them to cancel ever since. They told me that it auto renewed and I am stuck until ay 2011. I am on the phone with them again as I type this getting yet more run around. DONT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY.

Forced renewals
Dreadful customer service. Forced contract renewal. Blatant disregard of individual customer concerns. Sign up at your own risk. When my contract is up I will say Hasta Nunca!

Automatic Withdrawal
We were recently disputing a false alarm claim with Castle Rock. After many times of being put on hold for half an hour, promised they would call us back and not doing so, the bill passed its due date. We expressed concern about late fees but were told we had an extension. They then used the direct transfer agreement we have for our monthly payment and took the $150 fine out of our account without our permission and without warning us, and before the matter was even settled (the only reason it wasn't settled being their complete failure to help us). If you use them, DON'T GIVE THEM ACCESS TO YOUR BANK ACCOUNT. They will take whatever they want without warning, and that's just scary.

Contracts
Numerous allegations of bad faith regarding automatically renewing contracts (and a refusal to notify or cancel them) have been noted here. That alone should be reason enough to think twice before using or staying with Castle Rock. Howerver it gets MUCH WORSE.
Castlerock Security of Arlington Heights, Illinois used to be called Security Associates International (SAI) until it was acquired by Castlerock in 2008. http://www.hoovers.com/company/Security_Associates_International_Inc/hjycyi-1.html
In 2007, SAI (which in NOW CASTLEROCK), was accused of IMPROPERLY RESPONDING to a California FIRE ALARM. 2 firefighter and the 2 residents DIED!!! Here is the COMPLETE REPORT from the local fire department spelling out Castlerock's misconduct. http://www.cccfpd.org/press/documents/MICHELE%20LODD%20REPORT%207.17.08.pdf
Here is a story about one of the firefighters widows who sued
http://articles.sfgate.com/ 2008-08-21/bay-area/17123494_ 1_fire-district-firefighter-s- death-fire-department
Additionally, SAI and Castlerock Security have Better Business ratings of D- and F respectively.

Please keep these unpleasant facts in when deciding if you want to use Castlerock and feel free to pass these important facts around.

contract
My husband and I were fooled into signing the same dishonest contract in 2007 with Firstline Security. I couldn't honestly say that the thing worked correctly or not. But when we unplugged it nobody seemed to notice that we were off-line. Anyway...we knew that we had to pay for 3 years and so I just let them continue taking the $44.99 from our account. This summer we knew were getting close to the end and I wanted to talk to somebody and find out what month. Well...little did we know, Firstline is bankrupt and I had no way of contacting anyone. I had to have my bank research who was taking the money. Found out it was Castle Rock gave them a call and found out about sending in the stupid letter prior to the expiration of the contract and that we didn't make the dead-line, therefore we're locked in for another year. The next day I put a stop payment on the little blood suckers and have ZERO intentions for paying them another dime, especially after reading these posts. I'm fling a complaint with our attorney generals office here in Wa state. Does anybody here know anything else that can be done? We are clearly being stolen from and it's just plain wrong. I'm fighting back and or taking this stupid thing to my grave, cause they WON'T see anymore money from us!!!

Contract
Just like many of you the college student comes in sells the alarm system the alarm monitoring company changes hands several times. Castle Rock ends up being the last one the contract lands with. 3 Year contract with the 49.95 lined out at 44.95 wrote in and intialed by the salesman. I read the bogus 30 day prior part of the contract and said no way no how and he lined through it as well and initialed it. Three years later here we are saying stop billing us we have cancelled and they send it to collections. We have our attornies draft a letter the collections says uh oh we are out and gave it back to castle rock. What is needed is a law firm with the brass to go for a class ation suite here. By the looks of the complaints my family is not the only one... speak up! I have taken it to NBC news with an investigative reporter. They are PIT BULLS. God Speed to one and all

Will not cancel
WOW! We are not the only victims. Our original contract was with Pinacle then to our surprise SAI and now Castle Rock! We were not satified with their service at all. Who wants a home security company that will take over 15 minutes to call your home after your alarm sets off? We wanted to test our system so we purposely set off our alarm. We expect to receive a call from our home sercurity company within a reasonable amount of time - 15 minutes (what seems an internity) after setting off the system is not acceptable.
Because of that we called the company to cancel our service. Like everyone, we were told we could not cancel our service because we signed a 3 year contract. To get out of our contract we had to pay the remaining term of our contract, which was a little over 2 years.
Our contract ended June 22, 2010. We called a few weeks prior to cancel and was told it was too late because we did not submit a our request in writing. We faxed them our request (signed, "i" dotted and "t" crossed). A few days later Castle Rock called us back to inform us that they received our request and they would honor our request. But of course they continued to charge our credit card for their service we did not want. We called them back and was informed that our contract was automatically renewed. We told them that we provided our request in writing (faxed). They told my husband that the respresentative that called us back has given us the wrong information.
We contacted our credit card company and filed a dispute with Castle Rock. In our favor, our credit card company remove the charges. But of course we are now recieving bills and phone calls. Why would we want to pay for service we do not want or are just useless. Funny, we disconnect the phone from the control box...hmmm...shouldn't Castle Rock be concerned as to why they are not recieving any communication with their system and our phone line? Wow, I feel "Safe" with Castle Rock monitoring my security alarm...NOT! With all these complaints I am SURPRISE they are still in business.
We want to get out of this contract. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

fraud, poor customer service
We signed up prior to moving out of a home we shared with family. We still had to pay for the alarm system since we originally signed the contract for 3 years. Our relative was listed on the contract as well and still dwells in the home. After numerous phone calls we finally fixed it so that the monthly fees were deducted from her account. Now we are getting the bills coming to our home and our sister has noticed that no fees are being taken out of her account. So we are trying to get this straighted out. Then they renewed our contract without any notice and the unprofessional customer service representative stated that someone called once to ask if we wanted to renew and was told that they had the wrong number which could not be true because that is still a working number and our relative still lives there. So because of this they automatically renewed us without even notifying us by mail. Then because of the mix up with the previous payments they are now taking us to collections so now we have to try and fix this mess. Do not get signed up with these people they are crooked. The company was originally Pinnacle Security and got bought out by these crooks.
