I recently had a bad experience with a company known as Castle Windows based out of New Jersey with locations across the Northeast part of the United States. I live in Northeast Ohio. This is a legitimate company but their sales tactics are questionable.I thought at first that maybe it was the individual sales person that was just overly agressive, until I read some reviews and found out that I was not the only one that was subject to their tactics, and, several customers that did make a purchase complained about problems getting customer service and getting them to honor their “unconditional, ”no questions asked” lifetime warranty ‘, when they experienced a problem.
To make a long story short, I called on a few window companies that were advertising in the Yellow Pages to get estimates on replacing some older windows in my house. The salesman came into my home and gave his presentation of the company and their products. The presentation took about 45 minutes. I then asked him to give me a quote and I would let them know. He didn’t like that at all and got very aggressive telling me that I didn’t need any other quotes and that I needed to buy their windows right then and there. He proceeded to want to argue with me for quite some time. Finally, he took out a pen and paper from his briefcase and wrote down a figure.I thanked him for the offer and told him that I would call back should I decide to do business with them. He wanted no part of that, he then started to tell me about a special rebate that he “forgot” to tell me about which would save me a few bucks. I told him fine, but, I was not prepared to give him my decision on the spot. He started to push some more and then told me that since he thought was a nice guy, and, a hard working family man, that he was going to do something for me that he “almost never does”. He wrote down a quote which was a little bit lower and called it his “Exclusive One Day Only Sale”. He told me that I would be a moron not to sign a contract with him right then and there, because once he walked out the door I would be paying his original price should I decide later to give them my business.
I wouldn’t cave in and asked him to leave several times, but, he kept insisting on just a few more minutes of my time which eventually ended up being almost 4 hours. When he finally left he told me that I would be regretting it later that I did not do business with his company.
I have had dealt with quite a few home improvement contractors over the years and have never had to deal with anyone like this before.
