Refuse to cancel -auto year renewal
I originally sign up with APEX for 36 months. The equipment stopped working properly the second year. For a fee they (CastleRock) would fix it but I moved and wanted to cancel anyway. To my suprise, First they didn't inform me that with my upcoming renewal date I need to inform them 30 days prior to cancel. Even though I was about 90 days prior telling them I wanted to cancel. They asked why, I said it wasn't working anyway and they said they may be able to fix. Well what the heck my contract was up in a few months anyway. They never noted that I wanted to cancel and they never informed me to send in writing that I wanted to cancel in order to cancel. So the date comes two weeks prior to end of contract and I call to make sure it will be cancelled. That's when I'm told they will make note for next year on that date to cancel. CS still never said it has to be in writing. I said excuse me but I want it cancelled immediately. She tells me then it must in writing 30days prior to contract date. I was 15days before my date. Now I'm stuck. They keep sending payment notices, threats of sending to collection. Rude, fast talking individuals. Someone needs to stop them. This is bad business. Why should we be stuck paying them for a whole year? Who does this. They say this is done so people won't lose their service without the auto renewal. Why not just have a month to month after the initial contract until the customer cancels like they do in rentals. Not trap someone in a long year contract. I don't even live their anymore and they are contantly billing me. How fair is that?
