Blackberry Internet Service
I have recently subscribed to the Blackberry Internet Service @ R57 a month, it has worked for 2 days. I contacted customer services and they told me. Oh in Cape town the service was and will be down for a while? and you will not be refunded for the service.

No Signal and Network Failures
I'm having network connection failures with my Blackberry & Whoosh Modem consistantly since end Feb 2011. I've complained NUMEROUS times to Autopage and Cell C, both say the problem is for the other company to sort out! Aaargh!!! Finally Vaughn, a super helpful guy from Autopage, arranged for Cell C technicians to come to my house last wend Sat & test the connection from my house. 4xTech's came & mostly sat fiddling on their laptops & chatting in a foreign language that I couldnt understand. When they were done they told me the following:
* I have very badno signal because the tower is too far away (I live in Newton Park, a business area four blocks away from the largest shopping centre!)
* The one tech apparently went to this 'far-away tower' & 'moved the antennae' so that it was pointing in my direction to maybe strengthen the signal (it didnt - absolutely no change)
* According to the Tech's, there is absolutely nothing Cell C can do for me now!
WHAT?! For over a month now, 99% of the time I have no signal to call or use my internet... but amazingly Autopage seems to think that its ok to still take their full R900 out of my bank account FOR SERVICES NOT RECEIVED! ***! A week has passed since I posted my last complaint on HELLOPETER and I still have not been contacted by a consultant regarding the problem! Even after Cell C emailed back to say that one would call me shortly! Maybe they cant get through to me coz theres NO FRIGGEN SIGNAL!!! I'm definately taking this matter further!

Speedstick Shmeedstick!!
Hi there,

Cell C advertised its “speedstick” data card as being very fast within the coverage areas provided on their coverage map, and ran a special for R2999.00 for 5 gb of data per month for 12 months. I checked the coverage area and based on the fact that I was in a high speed well covered area as per their coverage map I purchased a "speedstick" pre-paid bundle. However, no matter where I try to use this the service is very bad, and very slow, and almost impossible to use, you have to re-try many times even to send a 2kb email, and their service graph shows a speed of 1-2kb per second average speed. I have spoken to all my friends who have the same issues, and some have cut their losses and moved to another network. I tried to call cell c but they never answer phones and never respond to my emails. They are conducting business unethical and this needs to be addressed, as it is also false advertising and therefore should be considered to be fraudulent activity. My IMEI is 357893031905562. I am able to get other people to write in to validate that the service is terrible. I know the service is bad because I was with MYTN before. I don’t mind a reasonable service but Cell C has almost no coverage at all even in their so called and advertised high speed coverage areas.

To top it off, once you already purchased and paid for the data bundle, and then went home to open it, inside they have a disclaimer stating they offer no warranty on their service at all, this is unethical! I have already lodged my complaint with ICASA, and will continue to find all avenues against which to raise this issue.

Please can this be investigated, I want my money back!

Where do I begin
I received my Cell phone from Cell C on the 04th of February 2011. I called in to have the sim card activated. A week passed, nothing, I called in the next week and got shouted at. the agent dropped the call in my face, I then called back again, spoke to a Gwen. She told me the same thing all the other agents did; "take out the sim card and wait 24 hours before switching on your cell phone". Meanwhile I rather used my vodacom sim in my phone. I then kept checking my phone periodicall to see whether it was activated, nope, no activation. I got calls every second day from Cell C agents, the ask me for the number of the sim THEY gave me. How the ****** am I supposed to know the number of the simcard THEY gave ME. its not even written anywhere on the packaging they gave me. Then they tell me they will call back but dont until 2 days later. On the 24th of February 2011, 21 days (3 weeks!) after receiving my phone they activated my sim card. I then left out the simcard til the 01st of march 2011, just to prevent them from charging me for February. When I checked the simcard's airtime it said R174.04 (i'm supposed to get R175 airtime and 100 sms's). The agent I spoke to said I surfed the net, if the simcard was in my phone for less than a split second it means that i was charged 96c for surfing I dont even know of, that lasted less than a second??then I used my simcard in march, I was billed for 2 months yet received airtime for only one month! the agent Nosipho said they sent me airtime, yet i am still sitting on 26 sms's from the previous month. she then said no, sms's do not roll over from the previous month. so between the 15th of March and 25th March I used 74 sms's????lol. she also stated that I used most of my airtime for surfing (Hellooooo, I have a BlackBerry bundle on Vodacom). She also said that sometimes on a Nokia you dont close applications and it takes your airtime LOL! Really? WOW I only discovered The Cell Phone yesterday! i would like Cell C to stop *** with me and give me what I'm paying for!!!

Irate, Annoyed, **** OFF
I have no idea what the people at Cell C do, because they definitely don’t answer their phones (You get stuck on the voice prompts and then very professionally get cut off!), neither does anybody respond to the so called "customer service" e-mail addresses. However here I am posting yet another e-mailin the hope that someone will respond!

1. My phone has been lost for the past 5/6 months, I immediately reported this to the Cell C call centre who blocked the sim card.

2. After having done so, I sent an e-mail to the above addresses to ask if there was anyway possible to retrieve my contacts that were stored on my sim card and requested information on my upgrade.

3. It has now been 5/6 months and I still have had no reply!

However the PEARLER to this whole debacle:

Cell C very efficiently still sends me an account every month, charging me ZAR174.00 for doing nothing! No service, No phone, No e-mail, just NOTHING! Please can you tell me what I am paying for each month!

I have yet to renew my contract which has expired, Cell C however continues to bill me without an updated contract – THIS IS ILLEGAL!
I’ve repeatedly tried to contact Cell C to try and sort out the mess, but as you can see from my very friendly e-mail I am still not helped!

What to do from here:

Publish this whole sordid affair in the news papers
Twitter about it
Facebook about it
Tell all my contacts
Move to a better service provider

I suggest Cell C works a little bit less on stand up comics as they are looking like a joke more and more each day and rather focus on their clients who pays for them to exist as a company!

I am assuming that it is too much to ask for someone to reply and attempt to make restitution…….(I've given up on this one!)

If you are still reading the saga continues...

I eventually called the CEO Client Liason Office. Mind you I was trasferred to the local useless call centre twice before the very effeciant receptionist actually shut up and listened to what I wanted.

I spoke to a lady called Lethogonolo who seemed refreshingly helpful. However all she was authorised to do is say, so sorry- can I now upgrade your phone! Why in the hell would I want to upgrade and spend more money and another two years with such a useless company!?! I was very polite and declined the offer. In turn I sent her an e-mail saying that I would like to give a months notice to cancel my contract with Cell C with immediate effect. She replied back and said that she would forward it to the cancellation department. I has now been a month since the cancellation and still I have not received an e-mail back to confirm that my contract is now cancelled! End of March 2011 I was billed the normal ZAR174.00 for a piece of paper - makes me so happy!! I tried to contact them to confirm the cancellation - 15 minutes on hold for the call center and stil no answer! Called the CEO Liason office again wanting to speak to the CEO! I was told that in no uncertain terms that this was not allowed. Truth be told if my management skills was as ***** as his/her I would also not like to talk to my clients - who by the way is paying my fat salary - almost like working for the Government!

I sent an e-mail to Letlhogonolo to confirm the cancellation - but is seems that she has dissapeared.

I am now going to cancel the debit order with the bank and so help Cell C is they bill me for April!

To all the current & potential clients for Cell C, don't get out while you can! It is not worth your time or your money!
